inspired by minimus's latest thread about controversial topics, i thought it would be interesting if we brits could have a nice friendly non-confrontational conversation about politics without getting all hot under the collar, thus teaching our more boisterous american counterparts a lesson in how to be dignified in these matters!.
i'll start the ball rolling.... my political persuasions are not very well formed yet, since i'm still only fairly recent in exiting the witnesses and giving serious attention to these sorts of things.. i think if i had been involved as a voter in the last election i would have voted conservative, but i'm dreading the next election because i suspect my options may be more limited.. there are many things i like and admire about david cameron, but also things about him that irritate me.
i like the way he sticks to his guns and doesn't give in easily on issues he cares about, but this can also make him unresponsive to the national mood at times, making him appear somewhat out of touch with reality.
i have a theory that each party that has been in power for a few years--wants to lose the next election before their policies bite them in the bum.
so what better way to lose an election than front up a leader that no-one would vote for

and the opposition party let a no-hoper front the party in the in-between years--

he will be dropped before the next election. trust me.

.......because i was raised a jw and not allowed to do anything like birthday parties and the like.. i was ridiculed because i was dragged around on the 'ministry'(tm) and my class mates saw and laughed.. i wasn't allowed to go into school morning assembly even though it wasn't religious...just in case.....so i used to get beat up in the cloak room.. i tried to fit in but had too many guilt trips.. i now loathe the god concept and the gb!.

i went to an all boys grammar scool in birmingham---UK. think of it like a cross between a PoW camp and a borstal.
there were about 1000 boys there--aged 11---18. i was taken out of the religious assembly each morning--& had to line up outside the door together with 3 jews and 2 hindu's. the catholic boys had their own class. after the ridicule wore off--i was just regarded as a bit odd--quite rightly so !
what really pi55ed me off--was years later--at a neighbouring circuit assembly--i found 2 other dub kids--both born-ins---but they never stayed out of the school assembly. 1 of them was in the same class as me !!----i real moron too. a few years later--his ugly sister married one of my dub--pals.

if they are employed by the watchtower society---how many hours do they work?----are their employers exempted from then minimum hourly rate LAWS ?
if they dont pay NI contributions--they could fall back on social security---or pension credit if over--62 (?) now----( all UK residents qualify--regardless of NI contributions )
----which means this evil system which they await the destruction thereof---will keep them.
