I believed when I was young that I wouldn't die a natural death. In my mind I was either going to live forever or be destroyed at the big A.

Did you at one time Believe-that you were not going to die. Does your still in JW spouse still believe?
by pistolpete inthis magazine says it all!.
and many of the older jws believed at one point in their life that they would make it through the great tribulation and into the 1000 year reign of christ without dying.
which is why so many jws stayed in so long.. is the main reason why jws ignore all the child abuse, the end of door to door service, and the closing of kingdom hall for almost two years----because they still believe they will not die?.

The "Trinity" is not Biblical.
by Revealed insimple.. you cannot find the word there (or many of the comical variations such as: a triune godhead, the triunity, co-equal god beings, godhead, a hypostaic union, divine essences, divine natures, a god-the-son, a god-the-ghost, hypostasis, homoousios, perichoresis , a godman, omnipresence, incarnation, a god who is a sacred mystery, a god 'in three persons', dual natures, a reincarnate god, a first person of the trinity, a second person of the trinity, a third person of the trinity, godness, a tri-unity or a multipersonal god), or any of the so-mentioned aspects.. jehovah identified himself (not 'themselves") as on one god, as did jesus and all the prophets.
.
so, come, let us know of the simple twists of the clergy!.

Have you Witnessed a Change in People's Life-Style / Behaviour where you Live?
by smiddy3 ini certainly have , over the normal week i go to one of two clubs where i have two beers over a couple of hours ( i pace myself ) and catch up with a few friends .
one of the clubs every hour goes around to disinfect everywhere people make contact with pokies /machines or whatever we might touch.and they also now have limits as to how many can be in a certain area at any one time.and that applies to both clubs ,except one does not disinfect every hour.. today, their were far fewer people in this particular club that i attended that is usually bustling with patrons on a saturday either drinking gambling and socializing .not today.
and a strict rule of how many could be in a certain area at any one time .. and i agree with all of this , its necessary .and i will be monitoring my own activities as need be.. what have you noticed in your neck of the woods.?

Here is Australia, everyone is going to have to adjust now. All cafes, restaurants, clubs, gyms, pubs, cinemas, theme parks are all closing from midday. Restaurants and cafes can only do takeaway and delivery, no dining in. Going out socialising is a no no know. Long lines to the centrelink offices now with all the people out of work.

Marvel's new characters XD
by LoveUniHateExams inluckily for me, i'm not interested in marvel at all - i never read the comics as a kid; i haven't seen any of the films as an adult.. but, i still think some of their new characters are worth mentioning.. here are two: snowflake and safe space.
no, i'm not kidding.. here's a little vid by a youtuber called just some guy.
he's a keen comic reader and loves that kinda stuff … but not the latest characters.. he's spliced clips of ricky gervais laughing his ass off with an interview with marvel writer and balding, bespectacled beta male, daniel kibblesmith.. enjoy!.

There really is nothing worth saying to someone who's brain is that fucked up to think this way.

Suggestions for horror/supernatural movies
by Addison0998 inhey guys, so now that i’m pretty much atheist and i’m not scared of demons or supernatural things, or bring them into my house by watching movies or reading books about them lol, i defenitly want to watch a few scary movies.
i’ve always loved scary movies, but as witness, you don’t get to watch many since they need to be pg-13 and have no spiritism in it lol.
does anyone have any suggestions?

Dinosaurs in Paradise
by The Real Edward Gentry ini'm so thankful for sites such as this.
i realise it's our imperfection but god's organization is not always open to 'outside the box' thinkers such as ourselves.
i've been researching dinosaurs and god's reason for not preserving these beasts beyond the flood of noah's day.

An honest question for those who were "born-in"
by stuckinarut2 injust wanted to ask a question of those who were born in as i was.. how did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - the truth"?.
did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?.
how did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the truth"?.

How did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - The Truth"?
No, As a small child, ironically, it made me feel safe and protected. Nothing really bad would happen to me or my family. When I was 8 years old, most of those things had gone, but I did still feel a bit special, despite what was happening.
Did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?
Confidence? No. Proud? More embarassed really once I started high school. Arrogant? Not in the way I interacted with my 'worldly' friends, but I'd been indoctrinated to believe I have been given all the answers to life and the future, so that does make you feel a bit special, not to mention, in my mind I was either going to die at the end of the system or live forever. I wasn't exactly a model teenager.
How did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the Truth"?
I didn't think about it. Throughout school, only 1 friend of mine ever asked what religion I was, aside from that I never told anyone. I didn't view other people as being fit for destruction, except when I was around witnesses or at the hall, giving the token answers, which any born-in knows exactly the right answers to give. I have to say, even though the paradise and living forever sounded mostly nice, I didn't want this system to end (except to get rid of mean and cruel people who hurt others). There was too much fun to be had with all the things humankind have discovered and built. I mean come on, who would really want to see Disneyworld destroyed? I actually started becoming envious of people who weren't born into "the truth" because I felt they were enjoying their lives more than I was.
As a child, did you ever question these things?
I didn't question anything I was being taught as a kid and by the time you're a teenager you've already learnt to 'wait on jehovah' for any doubts and pretty much self regulate your thoughts to keep them in check. Even though I believed completely, I didn't share the watchtower view of the world around me. For the most part growing up, I just considered myself wicked, because I enjoyed so many things in this system, I hung out with the friends I wanted to hang out with, did the things I felt I could get away with and then flip the good witness switch on when at the hall or social JW events.

Do all Christians/JWs/Mormons really believe the characters in the Bible were good as gold?
by booker-t inone thing i have always felt even as a devout jws was that some of the bible characters were probably scandelous like anybody else.
how do we know there was not a good amount of adultery, homosexuality, fornacation, drunkardness, wife swapping, etc; religous people always try to make it seem that some of these people slipped up a few times and was "perfect" forevermore until they died.
how do we know peter was not in an adulterous affair, or that paul was not engaged in homosexuality.

One thing I have learned since being out is that a lot of the "righteous" characters "slip ups" found in the bible are nothing short of criminal. If they were committed today, they'd be thrown in prison for a very long time and in some places the death penalty.
Believers who justify the bible characters actions are just parroting what they have been brainwashed into believing instead of using their own rational thinking ability.
