There is no evidence that Jesus as portrayed in the bible ever existed. So no, it means nothing to me. I haven't committed any crime that is deserving of death and if I did, it would be immoral for a judge to allow someone take my place and not punish me for my crimes even if someone volunteered.

Before anyone says that God says I am sinful and deserves death, they would have to establish first that this god even exists. And in the history of humankind, not one person has ever been able to prove beyond a doubt that any god of any culture in recorded history has ever existed. Belief in the god of the bible is based on nothing but hearsay, indoctrination and personal feelings that are based on the indoctrination.

Just because YOU call a judgment of God atrocioous doesn't make it atrocious.

Wanna bet. I am not only using my own moral compass to determine, but our society even contains laws that would punish a person doing the things god did in the bible.

You are placing yourself above God.

Every argument I've seen you put forth is nothing but illogical and completely hypocritical. You have to go against what you would consider immoral in order to justify what god has done in the bible. Would you stone your child to death for talking back to you or being disrespectful? At one point god thought it was okay to do just that. Would you like to own another human being as your property? God thought it was okay.

Many western culture laws are based on the principles in the bible silly.

Some are, most of them aren't. Our laws are far more superior to what is contained in the bible. Besides, nations had laws way before the bible came along and some of them were superior to the bible. Women in ancient Egypt were treated a lot better than how the Israelite women were.

We don't justify the bible's laws, they justify ours.

That's all you've been doing (justifying the bible's laws), because the laws and punishments in the bible are considered barbaric and inhumane by todays standards, so they have to be justified or else you would have to admit you worship a tyrant.

There is no rape condoned period. No matter how much YOU want to superimpose modern culture on the subject, it doesn't exist. There is no way you could have read the link I posted. Read the link then come back with your informed response.

I read the links and they were nothing but weak justifications in order rationalize the irrational behaviour of god in the bible. The arguments are no more valid than what the WTS puts out there.

Like AK-Jeff said, there's no point in arguing with a delusion.

It is hypocritical to call God's judicial penalties murder while at the same time remain silent about our own societal death penalities.

No it is not hypocritical. People who commit atrocious acts in our society are punished. Even leaders and judges vwho commit atrocious acts can be punished. But when god commits atrocious acts, it's fine because he says so and cannot be questioned. That is a tyrant.

If you are going to use the word "God", then you must use the definitions that are common with that word.... like JUDGE.

I do not have to use any definition you think applies to god. I am going by what is written in the bible and if someone can justify even the laws he gave to Israel does not give a crap about whether something is inhumane or not, only whether god says something is right or not.

Also, You'll be happy to note that there is no rape condoned in the bible .... period

Keep telling yourself that. What would you call a man forcing himself on a woman.
Plus you said nothing of slavery. If someone can justify a human owning another human as property, then they are beyond any sense of humanity.

aren't you just assuming that women in general were treated "well" by their own people?...that may not have been the case.

So that makes it okay. You have got to be kidding me with this statement as a justification for slavery and rape. History tells us that not all women were treated well. But there were a lot of societies where women were treated a hell of a lot better than the Israelites. The ancient Egyptians treated there women better that god commanded the Israelites.

Do you really think that is the point anyway. If women were being mistreated, does that give someone else to right to come along, slaughter their entire society and take them for themselves and view them as property to be done with as they please. I don't think so.

In the bible god ordered the slaughter of these people, not because they were mistreating women, but because they had a different way of life. This is a moot point anyway as evidence shows that Canaan was not invaded as the bible shows.

I'll put it in a very simplistic manner. Hitler and his henchmen slaughtered Jews including women, children and old people. What you think if the Americans had of come along and killed any women that had been already married, the old people and babies, but kept the virgins so that after a couple of months they could legally marry them and have sex with them whenever they wanted, instead of just coming along and freeing them from their oppressors.

I can look past a lot of things people say out of ignorance, but I will NEVER stand by a let ANYONE dare even think that they can justify slavery or rape under ANY circumstance.

And the guy had to wait a month after the battle to marry the captive. This was not for rape, but was for a LIFELONG marriage. It was a very serious commitment to this captive woman and to all of their future children together. Those are the facts, you cannot change those facts.

Congratulations, you have just successfully justified slavery and rape in the one sentence. The captive was taken against their will after all their family and friends were slaughtered at the command of this god. Do you honestly think a women would WANT to marry and have sex with their captor under any circumstance short of self preservation. If someone believes that this is a good way to treat others is as sick as the person who would actually do it.

If you say whatever god says is right, then you have no moral compass with which to determine anything for yourself. Hitler got his followers to believe what he was doing was right as well. Go figure.

Imagine a WT Paradise Earth with over 100 Billion People- Not!

for years the wt has claimed that only 20 billion people have ever lived on the earth- in 1988 they claimed that there would be 1/3 hectare of every person who ever lived, which they said was enough to grow all the food that was needed.

a more realistic number by the population reference bureau is over 100 billion.

life in the wt utopia would resemble living in third world slums with just one bowl of food a day.

Number one: Jehovah deluged the earth. He is God Almighty. If the idea is to restore the Earth to paradise....Then the water canopy would return and the land currently covered by water would be exposed then. No more huge bodies of water on Earth.

Number 1: Jehovah never deluged the earth. There is no evidence whatsoever that even comes close to proving that claim.

Number 2: If the earth had a water canopy, it would super heat the atmosphere to the point where humans, plants and animals could not survive.

Number 3: the oceans are an absolute necessity for sustaining life on this planet.
