New simplified Watchtower
by alanv inbeginning with the july 15th 2011 edition of the watchtower, the society are producing a simplified version of the study copy.. this is apparantly for the many people whose first language is not english, and yet they live in a predominantly englsih speaking county.. the normal study edition will still be produced but it looks like the cong.
will be able to ask for a supply of the simplified version each month.. this simplified version can be downloaded from the watchtower site.. http://www.jw.org/index.html.

Since the whole issue is about money in the end, you can be sure that the WTS will throw a big hissy fit about it. They will probably even go as far as stating a new rule in Australia where witness minors can only have contact with adults when supervised by their parents or legal guardians before they will pay up. If you study the history of the WTS, you know that there is one thing they won't do and that is pay anyone anything, taxes or otherwise.
Except of course when it comes to settling child abuse cases. Then they will gladly hand over millions of dollars to keep people silent.

Even if I am a bitter, obnoxious apostate, it doesn't mean I can't make good arguments.
Of course in JW-world, the "bitter apostate"-classification is used as a thoughtstopping technique so they don't have to worry about any arguments we make. Mix in a good measure of demonic influence, and no matter what evidence we come with is invisible to the witnesses.
I have to admit I'm pretty bitter though. It will probably fade in time.

Yes but you see, a thousand years is as a single day, so we have only waited two days! Thoughtstop successful.
Of course this is a dangerous argument, because that may mean it will take another thousand years for armageddon to arrive, so you will have to follow up with some more doublethink, fear and lying such as "But conditions in the world were never this bad!" and "But Jesus arrived invisibly in 1914" and "We don't know the time and hour so you better be ready for armageddon or you will be cast into the lake of eternal fire!" and "One thing is for sure, the world never has been this close to Armageddon and every day brings it even closer".

How much do you believe in God's blessings?

yesterday i had the #3 talk at the hall.
and because my family has that "perfect family example" status in the hall, i got all the comments about how wonderful i did and how fantastic it was for being a young man(20)....yada yada yada.

It's a very simple concept. Everything good that happens to you is because of God. Everything bad that happens to you is because of Satan. If something bad happens to you, God made sure it was not even worse.
Tada! Suddenly you have tons of evidence for the existence and influence of God and Satan.

No shortage of prophecy

i came accross this site http://www.prophecynewswatch.com and realise ( well i knew already) that there is no shortage of prophecy, or prophets.. in 1970, i was just a boy, i remember hearing on the radio.
"by 1978 there will be no water left that is fit enough to drink, but we shouldnt worry because by 1977 the air will no longer support human life".

When the GB talks about pestilence post 1914, it is so incredibly ridiculous, when you look at diseases like the black plague where half of the entire european population died off. It was so terrible that in many cities a horse and carriage would come by daily to collect dead bodies.
Can you imagine over a four year period, half of the people you know dying to a disease? You can't. People living today simply can't imagine that.
How can you know this and still have a straight face when you tell people that we live in the end of days and the world has become worse since 1914. You simply can't. And this is just one of many terrible disasters humanity faced before 1914.
What does the society say about issues like this? Nothing. Just like on how many animals were in the ark. They don't say anything about stuff like this because they know it disproves the entire bible and their whole scam. They know, because they have people who spend their entire lives researching the bible and answering questions from readers. They are not ignorant. They know they are wrong.

Hiding from witnesses

they were out in full force placing memorial invitations.
instead of answering the door, i felt compelled to pretend to be not home and waited for them to leave.

Answer the door and ask them if they think Jesus wanted us to keep refusing to take the symbols in a remembrance of him. Yes this very very important celebration, the most important one in life, for which Jesus personally left detailed instructions. But he kept out he part of "respectful bystanders". How come?
