January 2012 WT Study edition on PDF pulled from JW.org website
by bnybyt inthe wt study edition is getting a facelift for the new year.. the january issue had been posted on jw.org but.... the boes hadn't received notice by letter of such a change.. the wts likes to play up every opportunity to have a new release.. this time the jw.org techies jumped the gun and went on to post.
the issues for download according to their established schedule.. unfortunately, they went ahead of the fds/gb who too late .
realized the cat was out of the bag, sort of saying.. well, it got pulled off the website, for now at least.. what's so secretive about it?.

If they simplify too much they can just reprint last month's WT over and over again.

What exactly are men at the back of the hall taking care of?
by howdidtihappen inonce people have come in, and the doorman and the mic men are in place, why are there a few other suits scattered about at the back?
i saw a guy get up, sit down, get up, sit down, get up and when i looked what he was up to he was reading the noticeboard and looking around, waiting for a bus.
i figured he wasn't doing much at that point, but anything to not stay seated.

Would you hire a JW?
by MrFreeze intasked with hiring a new employee, iff you were looking through potential employee candidates and you were asked to pick one to hire, would knowing one is a jw put that candidate in a negative light?.

the-illuminator81
If I could make the decision, no, I want to keep clear of JWs. Also they are numerous downsides like being told biweekly that working hard or making a career is going to end you up in a fiery lake of eternal destruction. That doesn't really motivate people. They don't have spare time for getting more education, which nowadays is a must in any serious job field apart from window washing.

How do you know when the Governing Body speaks for itself, and when it is supposed to speak for Jehovah?
by dgp inin the catholic church, the pope is considered "infallible" when he speaks ex cathedra.
that is to say, he is not infallible when he speaks about things that don't have to do with religion.
for example, he may say whatever he pleases about economics, but no one will hold that catholic economists will have sinned against god if they consider that the pope is wrong.. the important point here is that the pope is thought to be infallible only when he speaks about matters strictly related to the church.. the wikipedia has this:.

It's even worse, because even if they are wrong, you still have to obey them.

Jehovah DOES hear and answer our prayers...........
by punkofnice in.........the same way pink spotted unicorns do skip in my garden!.
now i'm not saying a god does or doesn't exist but the brand name god of the watchtower certainly doesn't exist.
he is the magic imaginary friend in the sky that jws talk to telepathically.. .

God made me score that touchdown.. thank you God!
@cantleave: That's right, a cultish practice to make sure any failure is to be blamed on the follower.
Q: God doesn't hear my prayers?
A: You must be practicing secret sin
A: You're doing it wrong!
A: You should wait on Jehovah
A: You're asking for something selfish
A: God only gives you the tools, you must do everything else yourself
A: Continue asking, someday he will hear you!
A: While waiting on God's answer, why don't you spend more time in field service?
A: The answers are in the literature, study more!

Question for IT experts.
by badseed inassuming that everytime i connect to the internet i'm in a different location ex:starbucks, mcdonald's, coffee shop, etc.
i then get a different ip address everytime (right?).
ex: i go at starbucks, get an ip address, sign into google using [email protected] (send a few emails, post a few comments) then logout and go to the mcdonald's a few blocks down the street and connect.

If you're logging into the same google account, google of course knows you are the same person.
Sites can track you based on a couple of unique identifiers sent by the browser. The browser tells a HTTP server what screen resolution you are running on, what version of the browser you have, what OS you have, your general location by IP address, browser plugins you may or may not have loaded and fonts available to display text. Certain browser settings can be tested for with javascript. All this information can be used to uniquely identify you even without cookies. Then they can also pattern match with your behaviour online. They may know you always visit a couple of sites in a certain order or at a certain time. They know what user names you log on with if you dont use SSL/HTTPS.
All this information is only used to display the right advertisements but still.. the authorities could subpoena this information. Luckily the WTS can't.
Another thing that sites can use to track you is flash cookies. Be sure to kill your flash cookies as well, or disable flash entirely. You can delete them here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

Employees have certain rights and freedoms. A JW has no rights and zero freedom.
Employees get paid for their time invested in the company, JWs get nothing.
Employees can leave whenever they want, a JW gets threatened with eternal destruction and shunning if they want to leave.
Employees can do in their spare time whatever they want, a JW is under control of the WTS 100% of the time.
Employees can take blood transfusions. JWs are left to bleed to death.
