Gay and proud for a year
by TimothyT inwow... i cant believe it has now been a year since i accepted that im gay.
it has been the best year of my life for so many reasons.
i have met my boyfriend who i adore, i have stopped lying to myself, my family and my friends, i am doing really well financially and spiritually, and of course, i am no longer a part of a deluded and oppressive religion.. it feels so good to be free!

i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

It's completely devastating when you find out the truth about the truth. I've have holded back to revealing much to my ailing mother. It might just push her off the edge. Recovery will take a while. That's what we're here for. Don't fret.

Bathroom too close to the bookstudy?
by i_drank_the_wine indid any of you ever have the bathroom for your bookstudy too close to where everyone was sitting?
i had one bookstudy like that.
i never used the bathroom there except for one time when i intentionally went in there to make as loud of a poop as possible as an act of rebellion.

We had book study at an old MS's home, he would barely turn on the AC and have a rickety fan running with the windows open in the den. All this in the nasty florida muggy summer nights. The restroom was right behind the last row and we really tried to avoid using it, as it was kind of rudimentary, the whole portion of the house seemed like an addition. The door was thin and every single thing could be heard. The study conductor elder speaking almost at whisper level was quieter than the noises. Not to mention the older brother adjusting his hearing aid and all you could hear was EEEEEEEEEEEK coming out. Haha the memories.. not.. I was about 10 and nodding off desperate to get back home.

JW-by-numbers software - have you encountered any?

has anybody had any experience with them?.
i'll set the ball rolling with a program called service meetings study (i have a copy of version 3.8.5 - having been given it years ago).

Unsafe Cars in Field Service

i used to get quite pissed when i was pressured to ride in an unsafe vehicle for fs.
when my daughter was little, i was under constant pressure to let her ride without a car seat.

Crazy stuff. Most of my ex-congregation have had dinged up/banged up cars. There was this particular elder that always offered to give me a ride to service on his tattered F-150. First I usually struggled or over-hopped to get inside, banging my head in the process, the door step was completely gone. Not to mention he was quite an agressive driver, (as he was always running late to meetings for service, being an elder mind you!) so the whole family including myself shifted left and right with each turn. Not just an unsafe situation, but his whole family was quirky.
Another case was this old ministerial servant widower around his 80s and almost deaf. He was a pretty unsafe driver, everyone would rush in order to avoid his car, and skip a parking space at hall. Everyone would wait until he was done parking/leaving to even move an inch. He was stubborn and wouldn't let go easy of his car until that same elder I mentioned banned him from driving (haha!) after he banged up a sister's car in service, later another worldly persons car. He had rides to and from hall.. But at one point he began driving again, taking a study home a few times! The study must've been crapping himself!
