All of my friendships, either inside or outside The Truth TM , have been transient and temporary. The longest a friendship would last would be a few years... then they'd move out of town and drift away. Anything even close to being a "Best Friend" would be few and far between. Now that I'm swearing off being a JW forever, I'll need close friendships more than ever, especially considering that I might stand to lose my family at some point...

I think what Miz meant by "ruining" a woman was that if a guy dates a woman (and maybe marries her?) and makes her life miserable, when he continually lies and manipulates, it could make her feel devastated and incurably cynical, especially when the relationship fails after many years. It has a lot more to do with than just sex, sweetie...

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?

it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

It is true that men's reasons vs women's reasons for waking up are often on opposite sides of the logical/emotional continuum. Perhaps it's true that the ratio of men vs women waking up first favours the masculine side of the scale but I doubt it's quite as lopsided as it would seem to the mermaid. We DO see ladies waking up because of being excluded from the group, being the outsiders in their own congregations, usually through no fault or doing of their own. Men on the other hand, usually become at odds with the congregation and/or the WTS because of things of their own doing. There are of course statistical outliers on both sides who end up being the opposite of what's typical of their gender, but, all-in-all, we are all individuals and we all do things for our own reasons...

they had just paid $3.34 for a gallon of gas, which, here in britain, is remarkably cheap.. doing the maths;.
1 gallon = 4.5 litres.
