at the meeting last night i was approached by an elder and he asked me what my schedule was like for the next week or so.
i told him im not sure ill have to tet back with him and i asked why and he said kindly but in an odd sort of way "for a visit".
my wife and i have not gone out in field service and have been missing meeting left and right mostly due to sickness and family.
HI DS211, Send the elder an email/text to notify him of your position so that you can prove that you notified the elders. Would the following message help your situation?
"Dear Elder, Thank you for your concern. Please notify all the elders that I'm am feeling very stressed and please do not contact me nor any of my family members without contacting me first by phone/text/email. When I need your help, I will contact you or the other elders."

today my mom called me three times at work to tell me how "worried" she was about my spirituality.. i so wanted to tell her some ttatt but just said, "mom, i am fine spiritually.
if i am ever in trouble spiritually, i will tell you.
meanwhile, i would really appreciate it if you left my relationship with god a private matter.".
Hi ILoveTTATT, Would you feel comfortable asking your mother to watch the following video by a psychologist (i.e., Steve Hassan): Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23)? Just tell her that after watching the video, it removed all your doubts about the WTBTS.

it was 11 days after i received the email from my sister, informing me that she is no longer going to communicate with me.. i was never a jw, so i don't fully comprehend this decision, nor do i understand the games jw's play.. i talked to my mom yesterday, and she (baptized within last year) is getting more and more fed up with the nonsense.
she has been trying to get everyone to come together, and she is seeing more and more extreme behavior from my sister and her husband.
my mom is blaming my brother in law, but my sister has clearly spoken up and said she is speaking for herself also.

The movie is in Danish with English sub-titles. It is actually a very balanced portrail of life as a JW. You could ask her if the movie portrays how JWs act?

am i the only one that finds it funny that the organization's campaign this month is to offer a printed magazine that is simply an ad for a website?
what's more is they have printed close to 50 mil copies which will be delivered by an army of volunteers who drive minivans and knock on the doors of empty houses repeatedly until they find someone at home...... can you imagine facebook going door to door to spread the word about how awesome their site is?.
I wonder if the WTBTS will be changing their business model to include internet advertizing revenue.

I know that you are probably going through an emotional roller-coaster because of the WTBTS, but at least you are working to be mentally free from the WTBTS. Rant on!!

I hope that everyone asks JWs if they can give them something in return and carry a Sharpie or pre-printed, permanent labels with QR codes with them. After overcoming JWs objectiosn of not being able to accept religious material, write www.jwfacts.com, www.freedomofmind.com, or some other reputable website or attach labels on the advertising and then hand back the flyers to the JWs.
Worst case is that the JWs will run away and may never bother you again. Best case is that they will not be able to count placing the flyer and may even visit the website.

P.S. - If JWs do a drop and run, write the website on the flyer and then paper the local KH's front door with flyers.

I hope that the Russian government just takes away any charitible perks (i.e., non-profit tax status/government funding) from the WTBTS instead of banning its literature, as well as all organizations that can be classified as dangerous cults. It would be a waste of government resources to ban the literature.

just got a call from my daughter that she got word that the jw honeywagon (literature stand) has set up in the university she teaches at.
one (and there are many) of the reasons we left was due to the stance on higher education, she was persecuted by the elders for attending the very university they are now set up in.
my daughter eventually got a masters degree overseas and now teaches at the same unversity, is self sufficent and will not have to eke out some pittance of a living while fighting a very delbilitating health condition.
Hi Simon Morley, Your daughter deserves a and a BIG "GO GIRL!!"
If she cannot educate her university's officials about the WTBTS's stance on education as well as that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult, I hope that she can at least get the university to allow BIG posters with www.jwfacts.com and www.freedomofmind.com with QR codes and with Raymond Franz's books to be located adjacent to the cart. A couple of well placed posters might make the JWs run away.

Except for your parents raising you as a JW, it sounds like you had a very idylic childhood being raised by your parents. From stories of other JWN members they were not as lucky as you.

Hi ILoveTTATT, Make a plan with your Dad to help your Mom to critically think for herself. Help you Dad to learn how to confront without being harsh or abusive first. Has he read any of Steve Hassan's books? If he can critically think for himself, he may be able to help your Mom to critically think for herself? You and your Dad's plan, can be as simple as:
The bottom line is that once you leave your parents home you will have less chances to help you Mom to critically think for herself and it becomes your Dad's problem.
