okay so i'm dating a born-in jw woman, she's younger than me and has no kids.

Hi jonza, Would God put the lives of your children at risk to help your GF? If she is not able to help herself and your compromise would be putting your children at risk of being victimized by the WTBTS, who should you be more concerned about keeping safe? If you are a christian, than have you read Mt 15?

NIV Mt 15:13-14

He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

IMHO Jesus Christ was just being very pragmatic about the probablity of helping the Pharisees and teachers of the law to overcome BITE control in Mt 15:13-14. He was not being cruel to not help them. He just felt that there was nothing he could do to help them to love God more than the Jewish religious laws and leaders.

If you do marry your JW GF, please do not trade the emotional and mental health of your children to seal the deal.

Please I need help

so my doubting spiritually weak girlfriend talked to some spiritually strong christians and decided we should breakup.

she said she knows breaking up is probably a mistake, but she has a troubled conscience.

she says she truly loves me, but i was causing her to doubt more and more.

Hi kneehighmiah, Can you send an email to your GF's father, brothers, roommate and close friends asking them to ask your GF to watch Steve Hassan's video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23) without your GF learning that you asked them?

Your best approach is to help educate your GF's non-JW family and friends to learn more about helping your GF to learn to critically think for herself and let your GF go. Focus more about implementing your plans to successfully fade from the WTBTS and hopefully getting more education/training to qualify for a well paying career. If your girl friend chooses you over the WTBTS, FANTASTIC!! Otherwise, you will find someone who you can love eventually and hopefully free from the WTBTS.

Welcome jonza, Unless you and your GF can view and openly discuss Steve Hassan's video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23), run away and find a non-JW, who you love. I know that my advice sucks, but can you imagine your GF believing that she can recruit you into a dangerous cult that will suck out your heart, mind, and soul because she loves the WTBTS more than you.

I was once in love with a "Spiritually Strong" (non-thinking) JW and I believe that she loved me too. As soon as I did not progress with my second Bible Study (indoctrination) with a brother, she stopped associating with me. She was more afraid of being shunned by her JW family and friends than she was of my loving her unconditionally. If we had gotten married, it would have been a ménage à trois relationship amongst her cult persona, her authentic persona, and myself. I know that you love your GF's authentic persona. How do you feel about her cult persona? Do you think that you can ever get her to critically think for herself? Are you willing to risk your emotional health and financial security on your feelings that you could get your GF to financially think for herself?

Ding Dong . . .

h'mmm, it is almost 11:00 am on a wednesday.

i wonder if it is a jw.. to the best of my knowledge the following happened, but i did get a little excited during our intial conversation and what transpired later so i may not be recounting the facts correctly.. i went downstairs with my trusty sharpie in my pocket to answer the door.

at the door there was an older (~75 year-old) man in a suit and appeared to be in good health.

@ scary21, What transpired was kind of funny in a Keystone Cops kind of way. Oh well, compared to someone with lots of JW family and friends may be I am lucky that I do not have plenty of opportunities to interact with JWs.

Change of mindset.

i have been a witness for a long time and still serve as an elder.

there have been a lot of changes to deal with in the last six months or so since i stumbled on this site due to questions i had about all the recent changes in understanding published in the wt.

many posters here talk about a cult personality and a real personality.

Please either read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest books) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs) or watch Steve Hassan's video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23) to understand how BITE control technics, cognitive dissonance, hubris, and phobias can create a cult persona.

Hi redvip2000, I agree with you that I did not successfully achieve my goal of planting seeds of doubt in JWs, but at least I helped to make the complex neater looking. I wished that the JW just said that he was cold and I would have offered him some tea and girl scout cookies to delay him from passing out more phamplets. I wish that he would have accepted my offer of giving him a gift in return of www.freedomofmind.com written on the Memorial invitation. I wish that I hadn't been confronted about picking up the Memorial invitations from my neighbors by the JWs. I wish that I could have asked better questions of the JWs when I was confronted.

Since the condominium complex I live in has no soliciting signs at street entrances, JWs should know not to solicit door to door in the complex. While I was picking up the Memorial invitations I was also considering picking up other advertisements from real estate professionals that were left under mats or near front doors - loose papers make the complex look trashy. Since most people in the complex don't really use the front door because they enter their condo from the garage/carport in the back, papers will collect around front doors.

What would you have done that would have been more effective? What have you done to successfully plant seeds of doubts in JWs or protect non-JWs from being recruited into the WTBTS?

Anyone Else Feeling Forced to Go to the Memorial?

i refuse to go to any meetings, assemblies, conventions, special talks or the like...however, i get coerced into going to the memorial every year.

because it keeps the peace at home with hubby and also makes my parents, who live elsewhere, have hope that i will come to my senses and become an active witness again.

there is no chance in hell of that happening, but it prevents the ties to my family from being severed.

For all you Memorial goers, have you thought about eating the bread and drinking the wine? I know that they both probably taste terrible, but have a martini or two before you go. If anyone asks, just say your one of the anointed. You probably won't be pressured to attend next year.

i'm almost 20. i've been lurking and i've seen a lot of posts about elderettes.

Welcome mellojello, Have you heard of the saying, "A happy wife. A happy life."? I sometimes think that if more elders' wives started to critically think for themselves, there would be a very few elders.

The Searcher and ILoveTTATT, thank you for reading and for your kind words.

My frustration is from my lack of thinking on my feet - it sucks! JWs are not allowed to critically think for themselves, so I feel compasion for them. I know how to recognize confusion in a JW and to continue to ask more simple questions, and how to overcome most thought-stopping platitudes when I write on JWN, but I do not do it very well when asking JWs simple questions.

P.S. - My hunt turned up more than 50 invitations. Some of the invitations were blown from under a mat or out of a door jam and laying on the ground. I plan to write an email to the complex's property manager informing them of the situation.
