I hope that Steven Unthank and the Australian government continue to prosecute the WTBTS, because the WTBTS is probably trying to demonstrate temporary compliance until the heat is off. Does anyone remember what happened when the Bulgarian government tried to negociate with the WTBTS about not Df'ing JWs for accepting blood transfusions? The answer can be found on jwfacts.com: http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/bulgaria-blood-transfusions.php . Why won't the WTBTS do something similiar in Victoria, Australia? Pretend compliance for a year and then forget about doing it.

How many double agents are there?

how many are there on this board that are also still in the society, especially acting in a position of leadership?

i think it's pretty funny they always talked about how "jehovah would root out the wickedness" yet theres people on here getting invites to "zone visits" that many other blind and faithful people weren't invited to.. .

if any of you are on your way out and have the ability to give a talk before you go, you should cratifly morph a talk into discussion about the origins of the society, by the time its obvious what you're doing you will have given 100-150 people seeds of doubt before they yank you off the stage, and the fact that they would be physically escorting you off the stage when you were simply talking about the "founder" of the society should be alarming and suspicious enough to those watching.. .

Darth Rutherford - . . . The only problem is: I finally have reached the point in my "fade-out" that the elders have totally left me alone. Getting reactivated would put me back at square-one again... and it would give them all hope that I've been redeemed. As I refaded, the relentless phone calls and emails would start all over. I just am not sure I want to go through all that again. . . .

Hi Darth Rutherford, do you still have those elder's email addresses? If you do, you could return their love by sending them anonymous emails like I wrote about in the thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/211893/1/Youe28099ve-Got-Mail-TM . If you do not want to send them anonymous emails, then I would be glad to send them emails after sending you an email for your review first. I am hoping and praying to send an anonymous email(s) with information from the Victoria, Australia hearings when information is published in a newspaper and/or arrest warrents are issued for GB members and posted on an official government website.

ExJWs don't have to be double-agents!! They just have to care enough to take action! They can always use their brains to plant seeds of doubts in JWs and write to newspapers to cover news worthy events, write to legislators to change tax/charity laws, and write loving and joyful emails to JW family and friends.

Band on the Run - I vowed I would never be such an adult. My neighbor is a strange mix. She visited me with her teenage daughter and announced what a potty mouth her daughter had. How she better cut out the potty mouth. The girl reacted the way I did. She smiled at me but it was not a true smile. I joked that she should not embarass her children, esp. in front a stranger. I tried to grasp for some way to signal my horror. Next, I also said, half-jokingly, that my parents did it to me. Despite their commentary, I've done all right. I felt if I directly confronted her mom in front of her that I would only add to the girls' discomfort. The neighbor just told me more tales out of school. She is not a family member or a close friend. Why should I care about a trait of her daughter's.
I am curious how others would handle the exchange. My overall feeling is that no matter what I said the situation was all wrong.

Hi (((((((((((Band on the Run))))))))), you did great!! At least you got involved without being confrontational. You cannot tell people how to behave nor how to correct their children. You can plant seeds of doubt and encouragement with humor and relating your personal experiences.

last week i had a visit from two sisters from the old hall i used to attend.

and i showed them acts 1:8 where jesus tells the apostles to be witnesses of him (jesus).

they showed me isaiah 43:10 where isaiah qoutes jehovah saying "you are my witnesses".

Is There A Nice Way To Say, 'It's Dying?'?

i got into one of those extended conversations with relatives i haven't spoken to in ages.

it was full of things unsaid and careful avoidance of saying too much about the organization.

lots of nice social hypocrisy, so nobody gets upset in the fairy-tale world of watchtower-ism.. is there any discreet, tactful, inoffensive way to tell them, "the organization is dying"?

metatron - . . . Perhaps this way................ "The Organization is becoming obsolete" That carries a degree of ambiguity as to exactly what is meant and what will emerge to replace it. And it might easily fit the current developments in Watchtower-Land, in a manner that's understandable. . . .

Hi metatron, your idea might work if you phrase it as a question and add something from WTBTS lore to keep JWs' shields down: "Is the Organization becoming obsolete because the end is so near?" It might be a good way to get JWs to express their doubts to you and to use their brains to think.

When is it time to fully open up to a spouse

recently my very active jw wife has been more critical of the wt and some of their stances.

she has particularly been critical of topics that hit home to some of the things going on in lives of our families.

i am still going through the motions as an active servant, but i am mentally out.

Hi ihadnoidea and I wish you lots of luck with your wife. I agree with the other posters to listen and ask simple questions like, "How does that make you feel?" Also, I would recommend reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., Combatting Cult Mind Control and Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves), visiting Steve Hassan's website (www.freedomofmind.com), and planning fun outings with your wife that initially don't interfere with meetings and then partially interfere with attending meetings. When your wife would rather go on a fun outings with you than attend a meeting, you will be able to ask her questions about how does she feel about WTBTS' doctrines when she knows that you love her more than anything else and she feels safe telling you how she really feels.

Worldly Kids at a Bus Stop - I see why JWs home school!

this morning as i was driving back home from putting rug rat #2 in pre-school, i saw one middle-school boy throw another kid into some thorny bushes at our local bus stop.

the kid sailed through the air and landed face down.

i stopped to see what had gone down.

Are you sure leaving is a wise decision ?- Lurkers think twice- Part 2

in the previous thread of this series, i called lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating an exit from the jw religion.

i mentioned that the thread was borne as a result of the general observations i made reading old posts here and discussing with many ex-jws and their lives have gradually turned out.

that thread alone was visited more than 2,980 times and graced with 204 contributions.

Here in Northern Europe, we have received reports of many ex-Jws who terminated their lives because of the difficulty of coping in the outside world., these reports are becoming numerous lately and I wouldnt want anyone to walk down that hideous path because of an aggresive need for ”freedom”. I repeat again, of what value is that freedom if it comes along with loneliness, depression, sleepness night and many horrible circumstances?. Please tell me what is the big deal about that freedom?. You may think there is light at the end of the tunnel, but you may not even survive the journey to see that light.
Unfortunately for most of these victims, their therapist had little or no knowledge about what really goes in the JW religion, so the assistance they offered didnt prove very helpful, they were completely handicapped in helping the matter, they couldnt comprehend what such terms as armaggedon, inactive publishers and many more mean, so their help was not so practical.

Hi mankkeli, where are you getting your information from? Is it only from the WTBTS? If you cannot prove what you say with quanitative and independent evidence, then you are as trustworthy as the WTBTS and just as informed as a talking parrot.

The WTBTS is a publishing and distribution corporation that enslaves its members with thought reform techniques. That is not just my opinion but is based on knowledgable people (i.e., Steve Hassan) independently researching dangerous cults and having open discussions about dangerous cults with other people. I would love to see an open and honest discussion occur in a KH about blood, child abuse, shunning, etc. Why would anyone want to waste their lives slaving for other men? Life is too precious to waste!

Unconditional love?

whatever happened to "unconditional love"?.

why is it today so many are willing to shun a friend or relative because they are just too much trouble or they do something that irritates them.... they claim that the other person is "not healty for them" or "harmful to their mental health" be it a relative or a goof friend.

too ready to write them off so to speak.. what happened to the kind of unconditional love that loves in good and bad times..... i don't get it... i guess "unconditional love" doesn't exist anymore.

@ Snozzy. My relatives are all pretty easy going, so I have not noticed them being intolerant. I'm very picky about who I'm close friends with, so my friends are also pretty easy going and are tolerant of me as I'm of them. The only intolerant former friend that I have is a JW, and she is the one that doesn't want to be friends with me probably because I'm not a sheep (i.e., will not blindly follow the WTBTS). I can sometimes be too honest when I'm told b*llsh*t.

@talesin. I'm sorry that you are sick and not doing well. I'm unemployed also, and it does take lots of effort to maintain relationships with people, who I use to work with. I feel that close friends will/have not abandoned me, and co-workers are not abandoning me when they are busy working and living their lives. Since I'm unemployed praticing and refining my networking skills has become even more important. I hope that you feel better soon.
