this is a sugestion i have to all members of this board ,members from all over the world, to let the victorian government in australia know that the world is concerned about protecting the children of victoria ,and theirby setting a precedent for the rest of the world, who are interested in the outcome of the criminal charges against the religion of jehovah`s witnesses in refusing to abide by the legislation to get "working with children checks"when required to do so.correct me if i`m wrong but i think if all of us sent letters to the newspapers here in australia ,the different members of parliment here,we would demonstate that the victorian judicial system here is under scrutiny to do the right thing in the eyes of the world.. we all complain that the wtb&ts/jehovahs witnesses is a cult religion that sucks,destroying family relationships,here is a chance to do something about it.

whether you agree with steven unthank or not,here is an opportunity to stick up for the children of jehovah`s witnesses and every other child that a witness calls on in their door to door ministry.. what do you think ?.

Help with talking to JWs in the family

Welcome to the forum bblightnin and I am sorry that you have very few options with freeing your wife's family from the WTBTS. The first thing is do not discuss doctrine with JWs. Invite your wife's family to go on outings with you and email/mail them pictures of you and your wife having a wonderful time as family. I would recommend that you read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves"), to visit Steve Hassan's website www.freedomofmind.com, visit www.freeminds.org, and read other authors that write about how to communicate with members of cults. The WTBTS is a dangerous cult so if your wife's family is indoctrinated into it, then will need to change how you communicate with them. If you would like to find out if your wife's family has doubts, ask them simple questions and see how they respond. I would recommend asking them, "Why do you look so tired?" to see if they may have doubts with WTBTS doctrines. Many JWs are under a lot of stress so that is an easy question to ask.

Your other options are to educate people, news organizations, and politicians in your area about the WTBTS being a dangerous cult. The WTBTS preys on uneducated people (i.e., people who do not understand the Bible) or people who are depressed. If more people learn the thought reform techniques that the WTBTS uses, then fewer people will join the WTBTS.

court case against the wt in belgium.

you may recall that sometime ago i posted an information about it.. jacques lejeunes case, ex jw, who had won an appeal against the adverse second level judgment, will be heard for the last time in front of the mons court on october 18th.. this case is emblematic as it is the first time that the violation of human right against the wt will be heard.. jacques is determined to go to the european court of human rights if this last case will end up in favor of the wt.. whoever wants to join me in attending the trial in support of jacques is welcome.. believe that jacques deserves this support.. the case will be heard on october 18th at 2 p.m. and is planned to last 4 hours.

both jacques and the wt have already presented their memorandum which is available online on my website, but in french only.

My wife's sister (lengthy but I need help)

a month later, i met her sister anahi.. zuly is younger than anahi, and is the only one in her family to have never conformed to being a witness.

in fact, she just today told a guy in a santa clause costume that she had no clue about the outside world until she met me, and that she realized her family had been demonizing everything for nothing.

@ABibleStudent I've read "Combatting Mind Control," as well as "Crisis of Conscience" (very emotional read, that book) as well as Robert Lifton's "Thought Control and the Psychology of Totalism," and a host of other thought control books. The odd thing was that I read them before I'd ever heard of a Jehovah's Witness.

Hi arko_n9ne. Although you stated that you read "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Crisis of Conscience" before your personal experience with JWs, it might be worth your time to reread those books because very few people have total recall and your perspective has changed since you last read those books. I also encourage you to read Steve Hassan's book "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves". Steve Hassan wrote "Combatting Cult Mind Control" before he had worked with JWs, and "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves" includes some insights to communicating with JWs.

By the way from your additional description of Anahi's cult persona, I would doubt that Anahi will ever recover her authentic persona unless you are willing to spend a lot of money for professional help for her. Her cult persona may be working overtime to punish her for perceived transgressions. I hope that you and your wife have a fantastic and wonderful life together and that your frustrations about Anahi do not adversely affect your lives together.

Hi arko_n9ne and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry for you and your wife's loss of Anahi's authentic persona. You and your wife do not have many options. I would recommend reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves"), visiting Steve Hassan's website www.freedomofmind.com, visiting other websites that discuss improving communication with cult members like www.freeminds.org, read Raymond Franz's books (ie., "Crisis of Conscience"), do not discuss doctrine with Anahi, continue to send Anahi emails/notes with plenty of pictures of you and your wife having fun together, and invite Anahi to join you and your wife on outings. You also have other options like sending anoynomous emails like I wrote about in http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/211893/1/Youe28099ve-Got-Mail-TM, and when you see Anahi asking her "How do you feel you look very tired?" and then listen to what she says.

My JW sibling & his family are coming over friday night

so, at my house we have a christmas party annually.

i told my koolaid drinking bro that i'd tone down the xmas part if he and his family would come and they said 'yes'.. my parents and other siblings are very merrily shocked.. my question to this board is....what should i do or say or not do or say to keep the peace should jw topics arise?.

i guess i'm looking for advice to get them to think without scaring them off.. thanks,.

Hi TTWSYF. I agree with the other posters. Focus on having fun and building your relationships with your brother. If you want to talk them into something, ask your brother if he would like to plan an outing or vacation with you. Take baby steps to reconnect with him first before asking him questions that may cause him doubts. If you cannot help yourself to ask him a question, than ask him "How are you feeling because you look so tired?" then let him talk about how he feels. If he has doubts about the WTBTS, those doubts will come out and then you ask him more questions about how he feels - never disagree with WTBTS doctrines.

After reading www.jwNews.net I was inspired to write to Dateline to ask the producers to expose how dangerous cults operate, like the WTBTS. I know that JWs will probably not watch Dateline, but maybe converts and exJWs or their friends and family will. My main objective is to educate the public about dangerous cults and to build support for enacting legislation to eliminate government tax deductions and support for dangerous cults. Encase anyone else would like to write to Dateline, I am including an email response that I received from Dateline when I sent them an email and a letter that I mailed to them.

Dear Producer,

Please consider producing a multi-show expose about the dangers of belonging to destructive cults, as well as, how governments inadvertly help those cults to thrive. The expose would be a public service to remind people about the dangers of belonging to cults such as the Peoples Temple (i.e., Jonestown) and the Branch Davidians. Nobody wants to join a cult, but many people are recruited to join them through deception. The shows could highlight the following:
• identifying the characteristics of cults;
• showing how pedophilia, child and spousal abuse, and basic human-rights abuse and other life-threatening and dysfunctional beliefs thrive in cults;
• identifying increased costs to governments and society;
• showing how governments inadvertly help some cults to flourish; and
• showing where and how former cult members get support.

I was inspired to write Dateline because of your slogan “We're a newsmagazine dedicated to investigative reporting, mysteries, and social justice”. Dangerous cults use thought reform techniques, “love bombing”, shunning, etc. to control thoughts and behaviors of their members. From my personal experience, the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (WB&TS) uses Theocratic Warfare Strategy (i.e., lying) to deceive prospective converts about the WB&TS during the recruitment process.

NBC reporters Lisa Myers and Richard Greenberg just scratched the surface about the social injustice that the WB&TS has committed in November of 2007 when NBC Nightly news ran a story about the WB&TS protecting pedophiles (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21917798/). Would Lisa Myers, Richard Greenberg, and/or Australian affiliated reporter/cameraman be willing to investigate allegations of pedophilia in 2011 in Australia (www.jwNews.net)?

If you would like additional information about dangerous cults, I would suggest contacting Steve Hassan through his website www.freedomeofmind.com and searching for support forums for former cult members using internet search engines. To obtain additional information about the WB&TS, NBC reporters should visit and ask for assistance from members of the following support forums: www.jwsupportforum.com, and www.jehovahs-witness.net. Also, many ex-Jehovah Witnesses (JWs) post youtube videos about their lives as JWs and how they have been shun by JWs as encouraged by the Watchtower, which is printed by the WB&TS.

The Real Purpose of Shunning Holidays

the watchtower endlessly prates on about pagan traditions in popular holidays - while the bible itself is loaded with subtle pagan religious ideas - such as wicked spirits being cast "into tartarus" (a pagan greek place in which the rebels against zeus got imprisoned) or "sacred secret" - a term the apostle paul likes that was adopted from pagan 'mystery' religions.. then we can throw in the reference to being divinely 'called christians' in acts - which uses a pagan term that refers to demonic oracles of the day.. of course, the watchtower has no objection to accumulating millions of pieces of paper that feature occult symbols (any dollar bill!).

in recent years, for good measure, they have added birthdays and thanksgiving to the official banned list, despite the sketchiest justification for doing so.

if birthdays are wrong simply because they figure in two negative accounts, then it makes much more sense to ban dogs as pets because of all the negativity in the bible about them!.
