Found another JWN-like forum in my language!
by ohnightdivine injust a few minutes ago i found out another ex-jw/jw forum online in my native language.. i am soooo happy because i thought there was very little hope of ttatt reaching these people.
as you can see, very few speak english fluently in my country.. but, yay!
the forum is so alive and up-to-date, just like jwn, and i even saw copies of the menlo park congregation docs.. there is still hope after all.. i'd be glad to see even just one member of my congregation wake up to ttatt..

How can i continue my fade vs the rubber band theorem that pulls my wife in

im beginning to feel that my oppurtunities to get my wife out are waning.
weve misssed many meetings she still smokes a cig a day.

Shunning: How would You Overcome it?
by ABibleStudent inafter reading the thread soon to be 18 and quit speaking to her mother- suggestions?, i started thinking of how to use the wtbts's doctrine to help jws to see what is the real purpose of shunning for the wtbts.
hopefully, some good ideas will be posted to this thread and may help exjws and jws to maintain relationships with each other instead of shunning the non-jws.. how would a jw react to the following?.
do christians shun or not associate with non-jws to help non-jws believe that the wtbts has the "truth", to keep the cong clean of non-believers, or to not be shunned?

If you are a Christian, please show me in the Bible one example more than I can show you the oppisite of Jesus Christ shunning or not associating with non-believers. If you can, I will return/join the WTBTS. If you cannot, than how can you justify the WTBTS promoting shunning or not associating with non-JWs. (pause)
If you cannot defend the WTBTS-s doctrines and still shun or not associate with non-JWs, how can you call yourself a Christian?
How would you interpret Jesus Christ's intentions after reading Mt 5:43-48, Mt 9:9-12, Mt 21:28-31, Mark 2:13-17, John 4:7-9, Acts 10:28, MT 15:21-28?
How would you try to reason with a JW about shunning or not associating with you?

Hi hokeypokey, I'm sorry that your life has turned into an emotional rollercoaster for you. DITTO what others have recommended to not tell your wife what you feel and think about the WTBTS. Do more research about the WTBTS by visiting websites like www.jwfacts.com and researching what BITE control techniques that the WTBTS uses to victimize JWs by visiting www.freedomofmind.com before making any life altering decisions.
If you are not financially secure enough to talk with a cult-exit counselor, keep on posting on JWN to vent about your feelings and to ask for more detailed advice about helping your wfe and children to critically think for themselves.
Anything that you can do to encourage your children to make more non-JW friends and to play sports will help you and your wife to meet more non-JWs and to build-up your non-JW support network.

A story about Reggie and Reginald... and why it makes me cringe... more vomiting
by confusedandalone inso i grew up in new jersey in a very urban part of the state.
i literally only saw white folks if they were in a police car or if i went to the assembly.
the funny thing is at the assembly there was still a level of segregation as well although it was self-imposed.

Hi confusedandalone, As a white guy, I apologize for how you were treated by the white A$$hole JWs when you were younger. They were just scared of you and other African Americans. It is sad that some people think that the only way to feel good is to put other people down.

Welcome clycleng , College is a great time in your life to make new friends by opening your mind to discovery how other people think and exchanging ideas without appearing condescending. A good way to appear less condescending is to ask more questions of other people and give short answers when asked questions until you have formed a relationship with other people. Once people like you for who you are, then you can open up a little more about your feelings and beliefs.
How would you describe yourself? Are you an active, "Spiritually Strong" (non-thinking), "Spiritually Weak" (still thinking), or inactive JW?
You may find many answers to your questions about making friends in college by reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasingt the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs), visit his website www.freedomofmind.com, or watch his videos. If you don't have a lot of time to do social research, I would recommend that you watch the following video by Steve Hassan: Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23).

Pronger1 - There is a difference between encouraging independent thought and deliberate scheming as some have suggested. It is far better to set a loving positive example than being deceptive or manipulative. All that would do is feed into what the org says apostates do. Frank open discussions and acceptance of whatever she decides is the mature loving course.
Welcome Pronger1, You do make a good point about not scheming to get someone Df'ed, but depending on the circumstances of a relationship it may be difficult to have a frank discussion with a person whose cult persona is controlling their thinking.
