  recently...my nephew confided that he doesn't want to go to the meetings anymore.

  he told his parents.

  reply from dad - typical party line - "live in our house - attend the meetings - or leave".

  Yes Wasblind... it is very sad... I know from experience.... it's amazing how free you can feel once you realize you can be free. Amazing to find out how much there is to learn. Amazing what simply studying religion in University can do for the awakening of one's soul.... Amazing what quiet meditation about NOTHING can do for inner peace. Amazing when you finally understand all the guilt imposed upon you and realizing that you don't need to own the guilt any more.... so many amazing, amazing, amazing insights..... I wish these for my nephew and all the others who want to know the power of what TRUTH really is.....

  Good suggestion Satanus. We live too far away but your idea might work. School's done in two months so expect he can stick it out until college (that we can help with) but it's not easy... and I also wouldn't want to see him become a lost soul..... seen far too many that never find their way back to live a full life. Particularly after the double secret life.... damaged, damaged, damaged.... really.... is this what a loving God wants? I don't think so...

  Recently...my nephew confided that he doesn't want to go to the meetings anymore. He told his parents. Reply from dad - typical party line - "live in our house - attend the meetings - or leave". (Same thing mine would have said to me if I'd had the courage to actually say what I thought when I was 17.) My sister is torn between her son's happiness, her husband and what she thinks is serving God... and my nephew....He's so confused. Just a teenager trying to figure out life.

  So ... he goes to keep the peace and just zones out for the time imposed. He will end up so damaged by all of this even if he stops now. It's just so sad....

  Why, Why, Why, Why, Why.......?????

  Wow - so needed to see this video today. The whole poem is so insightful - and you don't need to be single or alone to appreciate the sentiment. Sometimes finding a way to be alone when surrounded by others is a gift. The final words resonated strongly for me....

  "If you have an art that needs a practice, stop neglecting it, if your family doesn’t get you or a religious sect is not meant for you, don’t obsess about it.

  You could be in an instant surrounded if you need it.

  If your heart is bleeding, make the best of it.

  There is heat in freezing, be a testament.

  Thinking about the "two witnesses" rule for disfellowshipping -

  it just occurred to me that very possibly the jws are violating their own rule of "two witnesses" to convict a member of sin.. they have also long held the rule that if a man and a woman spend the night alone, this is evidence of adultery - but are there really two witnesses to adultery?

  at the most, it would mean that there could have been two witnesses that they stayed under one roof for the night - not necessarily that they did the deed.

  i personally know of certain cases where people have been dfd on this kind of "evidence" even when they protested that no sex took place.. what it made me think about is the greatly restrictive rule on proof of child molestation - here it is practically impossible to obtain their standard of "two witnesses" - in this case, the witnesses have to effectively observe the actual act of molestation.. is this a double standard?

  Thank you for that - you are absolutely right... and the rules change based on whether anyone knows, who knows, or the matter is "secret". Things are done for acceptance by men... not GOD.... and they are judged by Him too ... not other men.

  What have you achieved after leaving the Watchtower Organization?

  i was curious to read what you have achieved and accomplished since leaving the watchtower society?.

  in your opinion are you heading toward the success of your goals?.

  personally i am determined to have something near the life i was meant to have before the watchtower organization got a hold of my mind and bent it towards their own purposes and uses.. i think many here would be overjoyed to hear of your successes!.

  My father told me to find a good husband and pioneer.... I tried that for awhile but never with much success - my heart just wasn't in it.

  I subsequently went to college, then to university where I achieved a BA, then a Graduate degree.... have 3 beautiful sons (removed soon enough they are not fully damaged), their wives who continue to be shocked an appalled by the behaviour exhibited by some of my JW family, one beautiful grandbaby, and a supportive husband who still has some (but very, very little) contact with the ORG. Still quietly working on that....

  Most of the rest of my family is still INSIDE and they are seriously messed up. Those on the outside - we have become closer than ever. Have a good job.... will have a good pension (glad I didn't pick up on that pioneering track-I'd starve in old age). I abandoned "GUILT" and have felt more free than ever before..... I have taken control of my life. There are still some days when the sadness of my family being ripped apart overwhelms me but those days are not often... .and I have the support of understanding friends and the family that is left so at the end of the day... I am blessed.

  Long Distance Adultery and Other Issues

  allow me a moment to introduce myself: first of all, i am not a member of your faith as surely can be garnered from my choice of user name.

  i joined this forum with the intention of getting some information on a situation i'm forced to contend with that concerns my son.

  my questions are not designed to bash your beliefs, regardless of my personally held opinions and i hope that any discussion can be conducted without contention.

  The woman is lying - the only reason anyone (elder or otherwise) would tell her to keep in contact is in order to "convert" your son in an effort to salve her conscience. She is committing the equivalent of adultery and should be reported to the elders where she lives if in fact she practices as a JW. Feel free to send a letter to the local congregation. You can usually find an address on the internet. No repercussions for you - you are an outsider. Your son should run for his life because this will surely ruin it whether he ends up with this woman or not.

  My family has been destroyed because of this religion.

  so... if there's anyone from bethel or an elder who could comment on this question i would appreciate it.

  i am beyond understanding this..... my sister's daughter - (my neice - not a jw) is getting married to a young man (not a jw) in a few weeks.. her dad is df'd - so is our brother.. apparently my other sister and her "elder" husband can attend the wedding if the bride's df'd father is in attendance but not if her df'd uncle (our brother) is there.. please.... i just don't get it!!!!

  Thanks all for your kind words....and support.

  I expect my kind, gentle brother who loves others without conditions attached will step back and not attend because he loves my sister and our niece so very much and wants their happiness more than anything. My neice (who had to make this choice in order to see her only girl cousin) will make it through the day but the sadness is overwhelming. It should be the happiest time of her life - instead - this!!! I expect she will be angry, very angry later but not now - they are just trying to survive for a couple more weeks.

  The odd thing about all of this is that up until a few weeks ago everyone in the family freely associated with our brother - by making a personal decision that it was okay. They all attended my son's wedding (not JW) - I have pictures.... and - are you ready for this - my brother's wedding - and he was DF'd. WTF!!!

  Has some new LAW been announced recently? Nope - it was that someone outside the family became aware they might attend a wedding with DF'd uncle (not apostate-very sad story there) in attendance. Somehow the DF'd dad not an issue... I'm weary.

  Certainly can't criticize any of the stupid decisions they are making - well I can criticize my sister for being stupid - just not the organization that makes them do it! Honestly - I am done with them.

  I appreciate this site ..... between this and some therapy maybe I'll be okay.... we can only hope.

  PLEASE.... I just don't get it!!!! There's DF'd and then more DF'd???? Her dad continues to live an immoral lifestyle - her uncle does not - he just chose not to return to JWs.

  Our family is being ripped apart.
