i just spent a few days with my oldest daughter..i had a good time..bu wanted to come home today so i could have a good cry.
two weeks ago today my dear hubby passed away.
my grandson copied a card one of his classmates gave him and i wanted to share the poem in it with you.. you may have heard this before..but living with a jw i didn't get to hear too many things like this.... god saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be.
Hi Snoozy...I'm so sorry that your husband passed away. I don't know your story...forgive me please? Was it cancer? My father died of cancer when he was only 52. My father also had "hard working hands". He also had an amazingly brilliant mind.
I think you should keep writing your journal to hubby. It helps so much to put our thoughts into words...and I think that somehow, they get heard.

My mom and I recently spent a weekend together in a villa on the beach where I grew up. We had a number of glasses of fabulous red wine. 
We talked about many subjects and many memories. My mom, (and I by default I think), has always been a real nutrition fanatic. I mentioned that in Okinawa, they live really long lives, have very few wrinkles or grey hairs, and that apparently they do not even have a word for menopause. All of that because they eat so much soy (supposedly). That triggered a very early memory for me and I said that I remembered how she used to cook soy beans for me all the time, and how much I enjoyed them. She said, 'acch...that was because we had a huge sack of them in the attic...well, Armageddon was coming you know. Soy beans are a complete protein and we wanted to be prepared.' Here I am revealing my age, but at the time that I was being fed soy beans, it was 1973 - 1974. I just looked at her and thought in vino veritas. LOL LOL LOL!!
i always loved little animals, and i always will have one.
i noticed that most families do have pets.
for people living alone, a pet is a good companion.
Important?? Of course. My two black cats are my babies. I just have to look at them at the end of a hard day at work to feel a swell of love and gratitude. Then, there's the added deliciousness of petting, holding, kissing, playing, and purring (the cats do the purring, not me :) ).
And of course the borg looks down on pet-ownership...takes away time and money that could be better spent in peddling mags service of Jehovah, don't ya know? I think that that's why I was only ever allowed to have cats growing up. Cats do not require nearly as much care as do dogs.
Was I the only child filled with dread at the thought of the ever-imminent Great Tribulation where loyal drones servants of Jah and, by default, their beloved pets would be starved or nearly starved to death? I had horrifying visions of my family killing and eating our pets out of desperation. After all, the bible talks of women who ate their own children under similar circumstances. What is a cat or a dog in comparison? I couldn't bear the thought that my animal companions might meet such a fate. *Shudder* Glad that those mental ghosts have been banished forever!

Our congregation was once "privileged" to have one of the higher-ups from the Toronto Bethel come to visit us. He gave a special little talk at the end of the service meeting one Thursday night. I think that it was meant to be encouraging or something. Anyway, he proceeded to spew out what I thought at the time was one of the stupidest things that I had ever heard from the platform when he announced with such pride that "we have the cream of the crop at Bethel". How could anyone with a modicum of functioning brain cells look around at a full KH and tell them so directly that they were the less-thans? Of course, to complain about what this idiot said was tantamount to grumbling against one of the holy ones of Jah, (especially if you happen to be female). <gag>

"O Holy Night"...most definitely. Even though I'm waffling between agnosticism and paganism, that piece of music and its lyrics still give me goosebumps and bring tears to my eyes.
When I was taking voice lessons in my early teens, my parents were late picking me up one night. The girl whose lesson it was after mine began singing "O Holy Night". It was the first time that I had ever really heard it. I felt such a thrill at the beauty of it and wished so badly that I could sing it too. Of course, I flogged myself mentally for this guilty pleasure later. lol

BacktodaFront...are you talking about Resident Evil? If so, I totally agree. I was SO disappointed in the movie. It didn't capture the mood or the intrigue of the games at all.

And to think, if I were still a dub, I'd have to give up all of the pleasures of Resident Evil! What an awesome game series!! It's good to be free of mind control. :)
