Yes...I read that quote the first time. It does not state the belief that Jael was taken to heaven, however. I can't explain it any better than Leo already did above. (It is a somewhat misleading sentence though...particularly for someone not familiar with the peculiarities of jw doctrine!)

Jael With The Nail..
by Englishman inthis little snippet from the survival book intrigued me somewhat:.
>>>>>>13 some 180 years after hobab decided to go with israel, one of his descendants, a man named heber, was living with his wife, jael, not far from megiddo.
heber had separated himself from the rest of the kenites and had entered into peaceful relations with jabin, a canaanite king who harshly oppressed israel.

I can't imagine the WT says Jael ever went to heaven....the dubs' "heavenly hope" wasn't open when she died.

Is your family close??...
by Hecklerboy ini was talking to a good friend of mine the other night on the phone and i was telling him about my wife wondering why my family isn't very close.
when we started thinking about it we both decided it was because we grew up jw's.
i would love to be closer to my family, but it just seems we have nothing to talk about.

No...and I very much agree with you that it is, at least in part, due to the business of being jw.
Although, very much to his credit, my dear departed father did make sure we had vacation time together as a family. I think it was the one time he felt free of his elder responsibilities and could really be with us kids and his wife. We did have wonderful times together then. We traveled all across Canada and the U.S. Later on when only I was at home still, my mom, dad, and I went to Mexico, then all over Europe together. After I left home, my mom and dad went all over Asia together. Sadly he died shortly after that. He lived long enough to see "brother" Tanaka, who came all the way from Japan just to visit him while he was sick.

I THREW THEM OUT OF MY HOUSE.
by bebu inthey came back.
p and her first partner, s (who, by the way, was not the friend of my jw friend after all).
p and s told me that there was no reason to be upset about all the comments given (see below, added information); it was just a matter of misunderstanding ("like john and james, who thought that they were going to be sitting next to jesus.

bebu - that was AWESOME! Do you have a link to the previous thread(s)? You should embed it here because you did so great!
I remember being on a "call" with my mother...must have been at least 10 years ago...she was studying with a woman named Daisy, (who we later found out was schizophrenic, poor dear), and she was very calmly telling my mother that the bible stated that Jesus' body was raised. (Sorry, I can't remember all the details of this particular bible story and the Tower's spin on it.) I just remember her reading a scripture from her bible and my mother reading the same scripture from the New World Translation and neither of us could come up with an explanation for what was so clearly there. We looked at each other like deer in headlights but we just mumbled something about how it meant something different than what it actually said and that we'd do some research and get back to her (classic jw line!). I never forgot that.
When you are a faithful witness, you just can't possibly imagine that the organization could be wrong. Your mind always finds a way to justify - mind control at its finest. It's very scary.

My brother has been trying to get my mom to read 'The Beak of the Finch'. (We just came back from the Galapagos and I guess that's why he thought of it.) I'm curious as to why, as from the brief reviews I have read on it, it seems to support evolution, but at a much faster rate than previously thought. Guess I'm trying to figure out where my brother's head is. He is still jw, but he was never super-zealous. (there's a word you only hear in jw circles!) Has anyone read this book?

I went to the memorial service for Talia Balletti.
by hubert ini sent a pm to one of the forum assistants telling him this, and he said i should post and let everyone know how it went.. i didn't want to do this until mario posted first, because it's about his daughter, not mine.
but, i know all you wonderful people out there are waiting for some news on the memorial service, and i think mario is too grief stricken to be able to write right now.
sometimes these things hit you harder after it's all over, because now you have more time to think about it.
