Welcome y'all from JWR - any questions?
by Simon ini just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.

Why won't they simply change policy on sex offenders? Will they?
by punkofnice inwhy won't they (the wbt$ head honchos), simply change policy on sex offenders?
will they?..especially after the arc for eg?
it seems that with all the bad press and now the arc among other institutions that are exposing the wbt$ for a haven for paedophiles, why hasn't the wbt$ simply changed it's insane policy?.

"I just wonder if it's only we ex-JWs that are interested in the ARC though."
For whatever it's worth. Our "worldly" friends who helped us through the early stages of leaving JW world are really interested. This couple said they normally pick a tv series they haven't watched like "Game of Thrones" to watch during the winter, but they were hooked by the selected short snippets of the ARC that we sent them and plan on watching the commission proceedings first.
The wife is a lawyer so she's especially interested.

This question is for Elders and Ex Elders
by Iamallcool inwhen you have elders meetings, what was being said behind closed doors?
do you remember any statements from the elders that you find petty, stupid, strange, etc....?
what were they arguing about?

Snickering about peoples problems and failings during the meetings. Discussing at length why someone didn't' qualify for some "privilege" but never actually telling them and helping them to "improve". Ugh! I could go on and on. Gifts in men my ass...

Fun dinner tonight with ex-JWs
by Hortensia ini got to meet some real live jwn posters tonight, they stopped here and we met for dinner.
i was nervous about it, but they are a lovely couple, very intelligent and fun.
i am sure i talked too much, it was all so interesting -- swapping stories about our jw histories and how we got out and what we're all doing now.

Hortensia,
Please be careful!
Did this couple have a small cute mammal with them?
If so, beware!!! It's a scam!
These people very recently plied us with wine, while their "stud" seduced our cat (they're not even the same species...disgraceful!!!).
This "creature" even ate her food, and drank her water!
They pretend to be a "lovely couple", so that their "beast" can take advantage of your pet.

Today's Puzzler: Why did the SUV just stay there?
by Open mind inon my morning commute today in a residential area, there was an suv driving in the same lane i was in, but about a block ahead of me.
the suv pulls over just past a bus stop where a young lady is already waiting for a bus.
the suv lets off a passenger who starts walking back to the bus stop.. .

I definitely didn't object to time wasting witnessing toward the end. I would also "place" magazines in the garbage and count them as placements. Probably, should have at least recycled them!

"What a complete waste of time, gas and energy".
Even when I was "in", I thought about that a lot. I've often wondered if someone did a comparative study of the different religions' carbon footprints, what would they find?
My guess is the JW's would be on or very near the worst. Just think of all the paper products, toxic printing chemicals, fuel used driving in f.s. and driving to assemblies and conventions.
The Watchtower likes to point their finger at the rest of religions grand buildings in a negative way, but these buildings generally last for hundreds of years. On the other hand, your average Watchtower building is either remodeled or replaced every 15-20!
