Last nights Zoom meeting: Watching a nine year old on stage reading Bible passages
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy nephew called me sunday night to tell me that his nine year old son was giving his first talk.
he gave me the zoom i.d.. and password for his congregations in-person tuesday night meeting.. i haven't been to any meetings in nine years.
many things have changed.

One of the positive things that I gained from being a JW was being comfortable with public speaking.
I gave my first talk at age six.

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
by Simon inso the marvel multiverse ... it's a bit of a mess.. there is another multi-verse move though that's worth checking out.
michelle yeoh is brilliant and kind of half plays herself (you'll understand when you see it) and so is key huy quan who is the now grown-up actor who played the little chinese kid in the indiana jones movies.. it's funny, it's moving, i've seen it twice and, well, i still can't really describe what it's about or fully understand it.. the description used while it was in production was that it's "the story of a woman struggling to do her taxes".
which is technically accurate, i guess.

I went to the movie because some friends invited us. I really had almost no idea what the movie was about, just that it was scifi-ish.
I'm not all that impressed by most movies that I see, they are usually too predictable. Holy crap! This movie sure has hell wasn't!!!

New JW.Watch Website - Plans, Ideas & Submissions
by Simon ini want to create a new site to help people leaving the wts.. the idea is that it will be curated content of articles and videos on specific subjects such as how to fade, how to handle family, personal experiences of leaving, mistakes to avoid, plus practical life matters impacted by the wts such as how to create or rebuild a career, planning for retirement, getting counselling, making friends etc.... the idea is that it should be lots of voices to share the love and promote lots of people's channels so it becomes a more effective resource (hopefully there will always be something informative and appealing to the people visiting).. if you have a youtube channel that you would like featured, or maybe have some specific video or series that would suit, i'd be happy to include them.. likewise, if you have a subject you'd like to write about and can share some practical knowledge and guidance on, or have a life-story you'd like to share because your experience could benefit others, please let me know.. i bought a domain and setup some placeholder content:.
https://jw.watch.
please message me or post here if you have any questions or ideas..

Reading people's personal experiences, choices, good and bad, on this site, helped me save my family from JW land.
Recently, I said to my wife, "We're pretty lucky to have so many amazing people in our life."
She said, "Lucky? That's bullshit! We worked hard together to get this, that's not luck."

How far do we get away from 1914
by PimoElder inhow far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

No need to admit anything. Just let it slowly disappear like the 7,000 year long creative days.

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

During the initial part of a long conversation with an elder/substitute circuit overseer about beards, I got him to admit that it would be a spiritually "weak" person who would be stumbled by a brother with a beard.
Toward the end of the conversation, I asked him directly, "Bill, will you be stumbled if I come to the meeting with a beard"? He said, with no hesitation, "Yes, Queequeg. Yes I would."
All I could do was smile.
