Does the Christian message fall apart without a literal interpretation of Genesis?
by nicolaou in.
what's the point of jesus if adam & eve did not 'fall' and condemn us all to sin?.
-
Shrek
"I used to wonder the same thing as a jw. I was told to pray for forgivness of sin, on a daily basis."
Additionally, I wondered why I still needed to pray for forgivness if Jesus already died for my sins a couple thousand years before I got here.

Who Moved My Cheese?
by mrsjones5 ini'm reading this book 'who moved my cheese?
' and i like it.
i have friends who are the mice (which i think if funny) and i think i've been hem for too long and now want to be haw.. has anyone read this book and what did you think of it?.

Interesting responses. And I do agree that it is excessively elementary in its writing style. But...
When I read it, I thought that Hem (the little guy that didn't want to believe the cheese was gone) was a lot like the GB. They keep doing the same things, using the same methods, going back to the same places, and are having less and less success. They just won't admit that the old ways are not working anymore and accept that web based resources and social media are the future. Just print more books and knock on more doors.
Did anyone else get that from the book? (I hope?)

Sayings of Everlasting Life heard "Nowhere Else" but in JW Organization?
by InterestedOne ini just finished reading the 9/15/2010 wt study edition article for nov 8-14, and the last few sentences of paragraph 7 on page 18 jumped out at me.
referring to the "one association" which i assume means the jw organization, the author says "... where else can we turn?
nowhere else can we hear the sayings of everlasting life.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this site, but it helps me a great deal to separate the facts from the bs, which is exactly what you are being confronted with. http://www.jwfacts.com/ It very systematically goes over the teachings both past and present and lets you see for yourself what this group is about.
And welcome!

It's OK Lurkers, Paranoid former JW's, and even you current JW's....
by AllTimeJeff init's ok.... to post here on the internet, on jwn, and other jw related forums.. first of all, as we all know, the governing body doesn't provide a forum for jw's to "associate" with their brothers and sisters.
i'm just guessing, and i could be wrong, that its harder to control the flock when they have free access to information and each other.
damn electricity and the technology it brings..... anyway, i realize that for anyone leaving, or for practicing jw's, to post is a nervous thing.

OK, I'll give it a try. Not much for posting on any forums I join, just like to read, I guess.
I learn alot from the back and forth debates from the 'apologists'. To me they represent what the argument is going to be coming from the elders one day when the inevitable show down comes, helps me to be ready.
