Rode my bike all around the seawall this morning in Vancouver. Nothing to report. Saw a few zombies however if that means anything.

The reason I just can't believe in god
by jambon1 infor the first time in ages though, i actually re-evaluated my position on god/wt.. i had attended a few funerals in the spring and had also reignited some friendships with people from the hall.
but actually, i just keep going round in circles in my mind.
i cannot back an organisation with such a flawed past and one that endorses such policies as shunning & blood.

Could Assemblies Be Wrecked?
by metatron inassemblies at the reading pa. assembly hall are getting disrupted repeatedly by somebody who keeps pulling fire alarms.
many witlesses blame it on "apostates" - rather than the dissolute teenagers who used to do such things in my day.. there are lots of things that so-called 'apostates' may do to disrupt assemblies including bomb threats phoned in, swat teams called, printed green insults stuffed into collection boxes etc.
add prohibitions against strollers and you have lots of reasons not to attend and thereby avoid the annoyances.

Views on the Creation of the Universe
by simon17 ini was thinking the other day about the fascinating dichotomy of how the creation of the universe plays a role in the belief system of believers and non-believers.
it is the difference between a top-down vs. bottom-up view of reality.
in this post i'm mainly disucssing highly rational, scientific type believers and non-believers, open to fully exploring their belief system, of which i have talked to many.. to the non-believer, the creation event, the big bang, is the one utterly unexplainable event.

I think regardless of any evidence available, many people find it absolutely inconceivable that the universe did not have some supernatural cause. Many will use the (various iterations) trite analogy of who/what built that house/watch, ad nauseum.
Granted, I still struggle with the very concept but that is how my environment shaped my thinking. Cars, houses, watches, computers etc, are material things that began as an idea and eventually unfolded into a tangible object.
But it still doesn’t justify making a huge leap into saying that therefore something supernatural created the universe only to assuage my own uncertainty.
At the end of the day, it’s incumbent on me to be intellectually (yes, that word) honest and not default to the crude rumblings of my primitive brain. -

Why I truly come in!
by justmom inhello everyone.... i would honestly like to share why i come to this site when i am able to.. i too, like many here spent my whole life inside the wt along with my husband who was born in.
(i was 6) we have raised three wonderful sons now 27, 23, 21 who the youngest was almost 7 when we left and we were disfellowshipped.
(for so-called apostacy of course)and since then all of us partake of the christ by eating and drinking the manna and his blood.

As an observer of these certain kind of threads, I have one thing to say: If you have an established persona on an online forum - expect for people to respond to that persona.
It doesn’t matter who or what you are in the real world, all people see is what you are typing out on the forum. Just because several people know this person in real life and see something totally different means absolutely nothing here.
If I come across as an arrogant megalomaniac, I will expect any comments towards me to reflect that persona. Why would I be surprised that would be the case? Why would any so-called supporter of mine be surprised if that were the case?
Character references from other users, in my opinion, are useless. You can only respond to what you read online. If you feel this is unfair, then all the poster has to do is pay closer attention to what he/she is typing. As for the supporters of said poster, don’t conflate your real world knowledge of this person with the forum persona. They are in actuality, two different people. -

You CAN continue associating with wordly/disfellowshipped family members AND get a higher education
by Anony Mous inquotes:.
-- therefore, explain that a parent's decision an a child's associates would not be based on religion, but on the young one's conduct ... it will probably help if you acknowledge that this does not mean that all other youths whom your children are around in the neighborhood or at school are no good.
some of them may be pleasant and decent, as some of your neighbors, relatives, and workmates are.

Churches are dying
by StopTheTears inmost churches today are apostate.
using corrupt bibles, singing worldly christian rock music, teaching psychology instead of preaching the word of god, endorsing godless political leaders, et cetera.
i recently visited a baptist church where the pastor wore blue jeans to the pulpit, spoke psychology instead of preaching, the music was worldly, the niv was their bible, most of the women wore pants, and the only invitation given to lost sinners was to follow jesus.

while hundreds-of-thousands of dead churches all across America sit idle and do absolutely nothing about it.
Umm..maybe they can't do anything because you said they are already dead?
