Ohh, you are in Africa?
For some reason I thought you were Canadian. lol
i recently moved to another province/state, after i got a job there.
the sister of one of the elders who were on my jc (about 8 years ago) also got the job around the same area about two weeks ago.
i could'nt believe my ears when i got the call from that elder asking me to accomodate her sister in my spare bedroom, until she finds her own place.

So he is reinstated from 2008? He just made up the recent DF story? That makes more sense if an elder was calling him to house his sister. If he was still DF the elder would never have the guts to request a room.
On a side note, I think it is DELERIOUS and CRAZY to ask someone to house their sister until she finds a house. Does anyone else think that? I have never heard of such an arrangement. Usually when people get a new job, they get an apartment before they start. Family is one thing, but random friends of friends. No way.
Yes, they turn a blind eye to many inbalanced, and human based rules they promote.
Consequences, they themselves suffer too. I think many of them are embarassed at the rules they have to follow. I think most humans are kind and nice, and to be forced to shun is unnatural. Some do not like confrontation like I believe one person in my family, so it is easy for them to continue the shunning because they don't have to deal with THINKING FOR THEMSELVES. The Watchtower makes it easy to exist, you just follow their ever changing rules and you are fine and dandy in and gods favor.
ok lets say you get disfellowshipped and because of a disagreement with your "home elders"; you move to another congregation ( i already know about the "rule" where your publisher card stays with you old congregation ).
now lets say you want to come back, but your old congregation keeps rejecting you request for reinstatement ( 3 or more times ).
is there a rule that says that after the fourth rejection the decision to reinstate goes to the new congregation ?
Your dad might be speculating. But overall, if the elders don't feel you have been punished long enough, they will keep that label on you as long as it feels right to them. Remember things are about APPEARANCE a good deal in that organization.
i've been reading this thread for some time and finally had the opportunity to create an account.
i am anxious to meet you all and have a support group/active audience over the next crucial months and years following.
background: long-time doubter, giving way to frustration and skepticism beginning about 10 years ago and finally to total admission that this is a cult and that atheism is the way to go.
Welcome, looking forward to hearing more of your perspective!
if the carrot and stick aspect of being jehovahs witnesses upset you how do you reclaim your desire for reward?
i'm assumng that you all agree with me that feeling rewarded is a basic human desire.
how much effort do you think we should put into trying to make our lives rewarding?
Self respect
Being my authentic self
No more fear
I have more satisfying relationships
Gobs more fun
Happiness!
hello there everyone.
i remember reading a while back about someone on here ( i think) that wrote a letter to the body of elders & headoffice that they should not take any action to disfellowship them as they would be distancing them from friends and relatives and would proceed to take legal action if the body of elders went ahead.. if anyone has that link or can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate that..
CHG-I am sure he is pretty embarassed now that he has been called out! Good job. You deserve your privacy!
Yay baby! Love these progress reports!
No complaints! Still coming for more.
ok.... looking for some logical explainations.... my daughter, ali, who i've been posting about on the forum...who has developed congestive heart failure.... has had some spooky experiences lately in her house.
here are a few of the things that happened:.
about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.
Ah I see Coffee_Black. Where I come from, one floor houses with shallow attics are called a ranch. No matter, it just stuck out in my head when you mentioned the layout of the house. :)
I hope these things STOP, it must be really scary to be a single gal in a house that has mind of it's own. Keep us updated and see what you find out. I think more often than not, jerky people can mess and invade privacy for devious reasons. But I do believe in spirits of the dead too.
You are a good mom for being so concerned.
