I am more myself. I was always there, just held it in. I am far more happy, much less purposeless guilt, and I try to make more of an effort to be kind and make someone's day if possible. I probably did that to an extent before, but I think the lack of church goin' has me making goals to "pay it forward," which is far more significant.

How do you tell a co-worker NICELY that they have a B.O. problem? (please read)
by Joliette induring a potluck for the hotel where i work, two housekeepers got into a fight because of some petty stuff thats been going on (so ready to quit but havent been job hunting like i should).
anywho, the head housekeepers starts bitching at the housekeeping supervisor and then bust out the other lead housekeeper, saying that she smells like a bag of onions!
i did not attend (i work third shift, and only attended event at work the first year that the hotel opened (2008).

I absolutely cannot think of a nice way to tell another woman that she has an oooudour problem. I could easily tell a guy pal, or a child. But another woman, wow. If she was unlikable and truly did reek, then I would probably say to her once day, "Sweetie, I care about you and hate to tell you this, but sometimes it seems like your clothing might smell like food, perhaps onions, or something like that." She should get the message. Some cultures have certain smelling food they cook all the time. I wonder of those cultures are aware if they are in that certain population that fits tht profile?

Did therapy help you?
by gutted ini am considering going to a therapist.
even though i believe i have gotten better and made some progress (it has been roughly a year since i stopped attending meetings, doing anything jw-wise), i still have a lot of negative self-talk which is hard to overcome, especially during off days like today.. i find the hardest things for me is low self-esteem and social interactions/anxiety.
i'm sure some of you can sympathsize, and though i am not fully blaming my issues soley to my jw upbring (born-in) i know it compounded those issues.. .

Yes, it was helpful to talk to a professional who put words on my feelings and helped put things on perspective. It further cemented I was doing the right thing. It helped my daughter also. We are all doing great.

Had the magazines left at my house today and wanted to "SCREAM" after reading this article in the May 1,2011 WT
by StoneWall inthe article that caught my eye as i was thumbing through it was on page 18 entitled "a peaceable people defend their good name".
this was all about the issues being addresssed in russia and how the j.w.
's were being oppressed/repressed.. but if you look in the box to the left under "a note to the citizens of russia", you will see that they quote the scripture in luke 12:2 "there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.".

I wonder what the detailed reasons of the Russian Govt are for this concern? Any more info anywhere?

Welcome! How are things between you now? Sounds like you have a balanced perspective. Can you tell me the explaination she gave you about being at a night club? That is a no-no. Were you ever able to get her to see any other ideas? Or is she entrenched?

How was your Mother's Day?
by journey-on inmine was terrific.
loving visits, cards, dinner, and togetherness.
i know if i had remained a witness, at least one of my children would have left the borg, and we would probably not have the beautiful relationship we now have.

Great! Took my girls to a hotel last night to spend the night and swim. Just for the novelty of it. I bought all kinds of snacks and movies for them. They had a ball. Had breakfast at the hotel this morning, and let them do cannonballs some more. They were crying when we had to leave lol. Later on, we had dinner, and stayed home, but generally had a good day being together.

Everything is "Satan" ... Now what?
by roxanesophia infirstly, i'm a study who initially believed every word of the jw's.
figured "no other religion takes the time and effort to help people understand the bible by publishing the watchtower and the other literature" not realizing that all it does is pick and choose scriptures to suit whatever sentence they'd just written, which can be done using any book, not just the bible.
i felt foolish, after that.. .

I think you have made up your mind already. The hard thing is you have history with these people, and it is hard to break the ties, especially if you feel guilty or obligated somehow.
I might approach it rather firmly, but kind. Say it with a smile. If she offers to keep coming, say, oh that is so nice, but no thank you. Your initial conversation with your conductor might be very simple "I appreciate the time, and right now you need some time to yourself to consider. You are at a cross roads, and have reservations that the magazines simply cannot convince you of and you don't want her to waste any more time while you are mulling over your options here."
Just be honest. You know it is not the truth. So you invested some time and you now are very well educated on what they are really like. Devote that energy to find your own personal truth and your own life path. Good luck! Hope to hear more soon.

Perhaps some helpful advice. My rant on the JW mindset.
by garyneal inpride and prejudice abound in the watchtower religion.. i go to the assemblies and it becomes very clear that the speakers are so proud of the fact that their religion is the one true religion and that they are so much better than the other churches out there.
the amount of pride i heard coming from the platform is astounding.
astounding still is the fact that they cannot see it themselves and at one point in time, i could not see it either.

I completely hear what you are saying and agree with your logic. It is spinning our wheels to think that most JW's will be able to take the blinders off to believing they have the holy grail for right and wrong. At least you are able to be married to a JW, and hopefully she is a good wife, despite her refusal to look past the blinders. I take my hat off to ya for listening to the garbage at the assemblies, which are usually the most nauseating.
