  Unwritten Rules

  we all know jws must live by many rules.

  mostly they are called "principles" because the wts doesn't want to appear to be like the scribes and pharisees that christ condemned.

  so they renamed them as something other than "rules".

  Buy a 4 door car.

  Wear nylons with your dresses/skirts. No bare legs.

  You should answer at the meeting regularily. If not, you are viewed as a weakling.

  People that go out mid week in service are better than those who just go out on weekends.

  Is there no hope? (daughter getting baptized)

  i'm really distraught about the fact my 23 year old daughter is ready to abandon a potential career in writing where her talent lies, and become a jehovah's witness.

  i banned the study being held in our home, but it only hurt my relationship with my daughter, who screamed at me "i pay to live here and i'm not hiding, you're sabotaging my relationship with god!

  " so i gave in.

  Is there someone else that could possible pursuade her to slow down? After all, wouldn't "Jehovah" want her to "count the cost" and "make sure of all the important things?" Being her mom, and she is at that age where she might want to assert her own belief system, see if you can find someone else she looks up to and trusts to tell her to take it easy. She seems easily influenced. Hang in there, it sounds very stressful. Either way, you will always be there for her.

  Wifes leaving their husbands

  this year alone, three wifes in my congo left their husband and da with jws (all of them have kids).

  similar cases are seen in nearby congos.

  its striking that far more women leave their man and the jws then man do.. i would like to know, whether this observation can be made in your area too.

  I also divorced my husband, left the religion, took my kids and started a new life. Why? I hated the religion, I knew it was full of lies, and I wanted my kids to grow up more balanced and not face the hardships of being a JW and wasting ones life away. My marriage was awful, we were roomates, I had zero respect for him. He had a hair trigger temper, had gotten violent, and spent zero time with me. He was selfish. I knew that there was a better life out there.

  Best decision I ever made. I landed on my feet, did fine, very happy and fulfilled. My life is full of great people and family. I am learning new things every day and experiencing things I never did before. My kids still see their dad, but they can see the hypocrisy, even at a young age and have no desire to be JW's. They placate to their dad and pretend to like JWness when they are with him. But they make comments about how they don't want to be JW's when they are older.

  Yes I think so. I probably have some scars that rear their ugly head from time to time. But for the most part, I say BLESS YOU when someone sneezes, and I thought about donating blood today.

  I am more cautious here. IRL I am more outgoing and friendly. I type alot of posts and end up not submitting them for some reason. Maybe because I am not super close to anyone from here besides a few I would consider friends. I am on FB, and have JWN buddies on there. It is my real identity too, so those of you on my FB know what I look like and what I do because I post pics alot, etc.

  How should I start a brief conversation with her at the Self Check Out Lane especially when I am busy?

  few days ago, i went to the grocery store, i was busy scanning my grocery at the self check out lane, then there was a gorgeous lady scanning her stuff beside me and she smiled at me.

  i never smiled at her back or say anything to her because i just do not know what to say to her especially when i am busy scanning my grocery.

  how should i start a brief conversation with her when i am busy in the self check out lane?

  Just be direct. Chances are she has a man already. But what do you have to lose??

  Say something like "Hi, I apologize for being so up front, but I really think you are just beautiful and was wondering if you would be interested in getting a coffee with me. Would you mind if I gave you my email, and you can send me a note if you would like to talk a little more." I would not find that too creepy and would be slightly flattered. So go for it!

  so any of yall going to be in brooklyn, queens, jersey city or oklahoma city this weekend?

  maybe brooklyn, queens, jersey city, portland (or & me), green bay, west palm beach, sacramento, long beach, bakersfield or san diego weekend of 5/27.

  JWs and the Family Unit - Calling Maze to defend assertions

  in the thread about the wt in russia, maze made the assertions below.. .

  jehovah's witnesses as an organization acts as a protection to the family unit.

  andthe lie that jehovah's witnesses ruin families is apostate poison.. to aviod derailing that thread, i ask maze to defend them here.. my experience is that the jw religion destroyed my brothers' marriage.

  I love it how supposed JW's constantly quote WT articles. When will they ever have a single idea of their own? It makes reading any JW's posts on here quite boring. I want some thoughts of their own. That would be far more thought provoking. Maze, why are you on a non-JW website anyway?
