I didn't know him, of course, but I wonder if he would say that the GB had no choice because brothers and sisters today seem to have lost their zeal for Jehovah.
Blame the JWs, not the organization!
my late grandfather believed he was one of the anointed.
that aside when asked about whether the jw organisation would last, he would pull out the attached wt magazine (the second edition) and say "if the day ever comes when the organisation asks for money outright, it will be proof that jehovah is not it's backer.
" that's how convinced he was that such a thing would never happen.. i often wonder what my grandfather would make of the modern organisation today..

now covid restrictions are over, they're pushing on with watchtower museums at many locations through out the world.. looks to me as if they'll be pretty boring.
a few old bibles and photos of the witnessing work from way back when.. one things for sure is they won't include anything relating to constantly changing doctrines or have libraries full of old publications that have since been swept under the carpet..
jws see shunning as a loving provision.
but if a mennonite gal is shunned by her parents and friends for converting to jwism, would this be seen as a loving provision or as evidence of persecution?
how about parents beating a daughter who converted to jehovah's witnesses?.
Of course they would consider that persecution.
i remember years ago hearing an audio recording online of a district overseer talk regarding 1975. he said something along the lines of “allow me to put my notes aside” and then went off about how the end was coming in 1975. does anyone remember this?
or know where i can find a recording of this talk?.
As I recall, Sunutko's talk started out by disclaiming any certainty about what 1975 would bring and then spent the balance of the time urging JWs to talk up the possibility that 1975 would bring about the destruction of the wicked system ("it will be gone... down!") and start of the new system.

I can't find the reference, but didn't the WT condemn excommunications by the Catholic church?
Of course, the WT religion is "the truth," so whatever they do is loving, right?
jws often try to justify their religion as being the only true religion.
questions like.
which other organization is doing this or that?
"For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths."
That's exactly what JWs think all of Christendom is doing, but, of course, not Jehovah's theocratic organization.

I think we need to come up with short replies to WT thought stoppers.
One might be, "I don't understand why you call your religion 'the truth' when so many of their key teachings have changed just within our lifetime."
I'd like to hear others' ideas.
“1975” still marks 6000 years from the creation of adam in wt calendar.
according to “all scriptures inspired” book, there is a gap between the creation of adam and the creation of eve and her marriage to adam.
it was at that point in time when eve was created that marked the end of the 6th creative day and the beginning of god’s rest, the 7th day as recorded in genesis.
I think the WT dropped the Adam-Eve creation gap explanation a year or two after 1975.
They didn't announce it, of course,
They just stopped mentioning it and hoped the 1975 fiasco would fade away.
hey.
does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.
literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..
Jesus said to eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of him.
The Watchtower tells 99% of JWs to refuse to eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of him.
i can agree that satan doesn't see god as a good ruler as stated at gen 3:1-5. he doesn't seem to see gods laws as right or good.
but whether there is an understanding/agreement between god and satan afterward to the effect that he can take the mantle of rulership to show whether his style is best is doubtful.
that conclusion is probably reached because god hasn't destroyed satan, and he is also called the ruler of the world in the bible.
The Watchtower uses the sovereignty issue to keep JWs in line.
