That three WT elders have God's authority to act as judge and jury; to decide guilt and determine repentance

What is Your Favorite WT Lie?
by Sea Breeze ini would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.
surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.
my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

Yes that they have the keys of the kingdom ad of 1919.
Dug this up on line a while ago.
The Watchtower claims the Slave has been given all authority.
"The facts of modern history show that in the year 1919 [Jesus] revived these much afflicted disciples and gathered them together in a united body. Then he appointed them as his “slave” class “over all his belongings,” that is, over all his royal interests at the earth." Watchtower 1971 Dec 15 p.750
This is not what was intended by the Scriptures. The Bible states that the appointment over all the belongings is made after the master arrives.
Matthew 24:46,47 "Happy is that slave if his master on arriving (erchomai) finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings."
The master has not yet arrived, as the memorial is to cease on his arrival, and so the Slave has not been appointed over all the belongings.
1 Corinthians 11:26 "For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives (erchomai)."
The leaders have prematurely seized control for themselves, and consolidated that control. The 2012 version of the doctrine leaves Christians uncared for between 33 CE and 1919 CE, and elevates the exclusivity and importance of Governing Body. This is in contrast to the parable, which indicates that at this time the elders are to be shepherds of the congregation.
One would expect that the definition for one of Jehovah's Witnesses to be a person that worships Jehovah. However, the defining concept to being a Jehovah's Witness is not worship of Jehovah, but rather following the "faithful and discreet slave." In a judicial committee, the foremost question is not whether a Witness believes the Bible or worships Jehovah, but whether they believe God is using the Watchtower Faithful and Discreet Slave in our day. If a person believes in the Bible and Jehovah, they will still be disfellowshipped as an apostate if they openly confess that the Watchtower leaders do not represent Jehovah's slave.

Yes, but remember the Watchtower magazine consistently reported the parousia occurred in1874 and Christ's enthronement in 1878 right up to the 1930s. Further, when Armageddon didn't happen in 1914 or 1918, the F&DS, appointed in 1919, proclaimed that 1925 would see Armageddon and the start of the general resurrection. Why in 1926 you would be able to call Abraham in Jerusalem and ask that granny be raised if you built an extension onto your home for her.

Here are two of my favorites as reported by Goles Grey:
Here is a lie made by the Society in 1993:-
“The Watchtower has consistently presented evidence to honesthearted students of Bible prophecy that Jesus’ presence in heavenly Kingdom power began in 1914.” Watchtower 1993 Jan 15 p.5
However, the Watchtower once claimed that Jesus took up his kingly throne in 1878:-
- “… 1874 as the time of our Lord’s second presence as Bridegroom and Reaper, and to April 1878 as the time when he began to exercise his office of King of kings and Lord of lords…” – Studies in the Scriptures – Thy Kingdom Come (1911 ed.) p.150
- “The spring of A.D. 1878 (three and a half years later) corresponds to the date at which our Lord assumed the office of King…” – Studies in the Scriptures – The Time Is At Hand 1915 ed. p.235
It’s not clear why the writers of the 1993 Watchtower lied, but there is it in black and white.
.
.
Here is another lie:-
“Jehovah’s witnesses pointed to the year 1914, decades in advance, as marking the start of “the conclusion of the system of things.” – Awake! 1973 Jan 22 p.8
This claim is also provably untrue.
In the decades leading up to the year 1914, Jehovah’s Witnesses taught:-
- “THE ‘Time of the End,” a period of one hundred and fifteen(115) years, from A.D. 1799 to A.D. 1914, is particularly marked in the Scriptures.” Studies in the Scriptures – Thy Kingdom Come p.23
- But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of troubles.” – Zion’s Watch Tower 1894 Jul 15 p.226
- “In view of this strong Bible evidence concerning the Times of the Gentiles, we consider it an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the Kingdom of God, will be accomplished at the end of A.D. 1914.” – Studies in the Scriptures – The Time Is At Hand (1889) p.98-99
Decades before 1914, the Watchtower taught that that date marked the ‘end of the conclusion of the system of things’ with the war of Armageddon, contrary to what was stated in the 1973 Awake magazine.
It is particularly satisfying that their lies have finally caught up with them.

Meeting attendance
by Farmer Jim1 infor those still in the organization what is your meeting attendance like these days?.
when i left in 2017 there were around 80 publishers and the average meeting attendance was 70..

Just picked this up about the decreasing number of new publishers. See the chart below.
The last report by the coward organization was 70,000 are disfellowshipped a year, with 2/3 NEVER returning after freeing themselves from the cult and its false doctrine. Also, 65% of those born into the cult will leave, never to return, after educating themselves on the evil practices of the cult, many being victims of the abusive cult. Their controlling practices through FEAR and HATE only work on the weak minded they prey upon, leading the cult to be three times more likely to suffer from mental disorders such as anxiety, depression and schizophrenia, as shown in many medical studies. This high volume of mental illness has lead many mental health professionals to specialize in helping cult victims gain mental clarity and freedom of their fear and hate towards their fellow humans as well as help them adjust to a life in the real world.

Historian and former JW Jim Penton dies
by slimboyfat ini don’t know a lot about james penton but i think he deserves a better thread than the one currently on offer.
james penton, who died recently, grew up in a jw family in canada and served as an elder.
unusually for a jw, he studied liberal arts at university and became a history professor.

I'm doing fine thank you.
I hope you are right because I am used to seeing more positive well thought out comments being expressed in your posts. I actually thought for a second that someone might have stolen your identity. 😎

Trump wins
by gavindlt ini am non political and have never voted but nonetheless i have been keenly watching to see how the trump presidential race unfolds.
i believe that his involvement in propelling or influencing a leaning toward bible prophecy will unfold.
how, i can’t say but something tells me that this anomaly and outlier being trump is highly signifiant!

Absolutely nothing about the UN, Trump or the US elections in Bible prophecy!
What is in Bible prophecy:
No Christ, No Peace
Know Christ, Know Peace
