Slandered At the Circuit Assembly & My Letter To My Mother
by headisspinning inon saturday, my ex husband went on the platform at the one day circuit assembly and slandered me in front of 800+ people.. my jw family is even up in arms because he basically lied and ruined any last bits of my reputation that i had left, the worst part is this was elder sanctioned.. i am really exhausted from all the upheaval so i will get right to the point.
the following is what i sent to my mother:.

The whole situation sounds aweful!
I noticed one other poster mentioned a seeing a lawyer. I gathered from your OP that you comitted adultry (correct me if I am wrong). If your ex husband, or anyone for that matter, publically stated details of such in front of 800+ people, then you really might want to see a lawyer. If you have a recording of the program, then that would be best. But if you can't get it, then I don't think you'll have any shortage of witnesses to what was said.
Did your Ex-husband give details of these "issues" on stage? Did he mention you personally? Or by clear titles like: "my Ex-wife?"
Don't post any details here - I'm not fishing for details, and I wouldn't expect you to talk about them on a furm such as this. However, I would think the amount of detail given on stage is directly proportinal to the strength of a slander case.
If you have a good case and you called WT legal, I would expect them to want to handle it in-house. That's like calling an insurance company after an accident and asking if you can work it out with them. Knowing they can be on the hook for a lot of money, they'll try to dangle a few carrots in from of you and try to settle the matter for cheap.
Personally, I would want to get a recording of that program and take it to a lawyer.

Terry's not the only one.....
by journey-on in...that can ask "what would you choose" hypothetical questions.
i hope he'll answer mine.. what would you do if science proved beyond any doubt that there is an afterlife where one's consciousness gets uploaded to another dimension at the time of death and your "soul" carries on (like a caterpiller morphing into a new form as a butterfly) in that new dimension.
wait....i'm not through:.

It certainly does work in reverse. A JW is goaded into bad behavior or shaky statements and then is ridiculed. Sauce for the goose, indeed.
Actually, I don't think a JW needs to be goaded into bad behavior for #6 on your list to apply. From what I've seen of JW appologists, they can stay far clear of bad behavior and stick strictly to doctrinal matters and it comes out bad for them. I believe its because there are internal logical contradictions with WT doctrine (for example, FDS should be 2000+ years old as a class, but Russel broke free of all groups and explicitly states so. Also, supposed events surrounding their anittypical Babylonian captivity circa 1918). And I think the WTS know it. All it takes is a JW to come on and present the facts as the WTS spins them, in a non-emotional and calm way, and the it makes them look rediculous.
But I digress... I have also considered that Jonny the Bethelite is an insider. I mean, what if JTB is really a Bethelite, at brooklyn, and does have a valid ID, and even is sanctioned by the WTS in some way. I'm sure this is what you were getting at in your post above.. (correct me if I am wrong). If JTB is an insider with the goal of disrupting the apostate community, then he has successfully done so all the way from #1 to #6.

@ Terry: Interesting.
And this, IMO, is why the WT would like active members to stay away from internet forums like this. Not because the individual WT follower might be convinced the WT is wrong, even though that's what the WT would like the average JW to believe. Rather, it is because when they respond to the objections to their doctrine, policies, and Biblical interpretation, it just makes the WT look even worse!

Were the WT thinking of abandoning the 607 B.C.E date back in 2000?

Where does it say this?

Do you think its probable Jonny has a real bethel id card? I would say YES.
Why?
- What if Jonny is a real bethelite, just calling in and taking us all for a ride. In this case, he would have an id card. But the content of his statements are still wacky.
- What if Jonny is NOT a real bethelite, rather he knows somebody that is a real bethelite. This is where he gets some of his knowledge about everyday life, yet he's taking us all for a ride - making stuff up. If this were the case, then he very well may have copied the bethel id of his friend or buddy that's still in.
The bethel id is just a distraction. He could be a real bethelite just messing with us. Its the content of this statements that we need proof of.
