My 2... It's really not worth it... that would be like an employee (of the worst company ever) not showing for work in over 8 years and then finally handing in a resignation letter explaining his reasons for leaving... pointless.
BTW... Don't worry about reversing your baptism... (just let Jesus take care of it).
the june 15 study edition talks about scrolls, we all know the silly picture of the dude hauling scrolls around that the wt has put into a few of their publications.
this paragraph in the new wt states:.
the well-known dead sea scroll of isaiah is almost 24 feet (7.3 m) in length.
Assuming the 2 rods weighed about 2 pounds each and the 24-foot scroll of paper weighed about 2 pounds, that's about 6 pounds per scroll. If Paul were to carry the entire Old Testament he'd have to be strong enough to carry approximately 225 pounds for several miles at a time. I wonder which scrolls he chose to leave behind when he travelled...
I think we all know the reason behind this: The WT leadership have no other choice but to trap the kids from the current cult members... that will be their NEW focus while they regroup... its obviously getting tougher for them to find new recruits in field service since people are a lot better informed than they were just 10 years ago... Facebook and the internet are changing everything...
I really don't care for people who are too judgemental or think too highly of themselves in the "spiritual" sense. However, as much as some JWs try not to be judgemental, it is really impossible for them not to be since they are constantly reminded by the WT that they're a part of a small group chosen by God to his work. Also, they're constatntly bombarded by WT literature that trashes other religions and other lifestyles so they actually become mentally conditioned over time... not all JWs of course (some JWs are just naturally judgemental)
One of the last Public Talks I heard before finally waking up last year was about the proximity of Armageddon relative to the completion of the "worldwide work". The elder giving this talk kept stressing how close we were to the end and mentioned that we should not be overly concerned about countries with few JWs covering densly populated areas (like Bangladesh) because we now have the internet which is a tool we can use to reach the remaining people who deserve to discover "the Truth"... He was adamant about the fact that everyone on earth would eventually be witnessed to one way or the other so that no one would have any excuse when Armageddon finally arrived. I immediately imagined a poor 90-year old widow living in a shack in the middle of the woods where there are no roads, internet or electricity... that was when I turned to wife in the middle of the talk and said: "I'm leaving"... she begged me not to make a scene and I stayed. Afterwards we went to about 3 or 4 more meetings and then mutually decided never to return...
if this doesn't make you angry, nothing will.... you say that "at a blood transfusion the person receiving the blood is in great need of it; the transfusion is not undertaken because he is greedy for it".
for when a doctor tells a patient that he must have a blood transfusion or else he cannot get well and live, what does the doctor create in the patient but a greed for the blood of another human creature?
-watchtower may 15, 1950 page 159. so, according to the wt, people who accept blood transfusions (because they want to live and be there for their children) are greedy!
You say that "at a blood transfusion the person receiving the blood is in great need of it; the transfusion is not undertaken because he is greedy for it". How can you say this? For when a doctor tells a patient that he must have a blood transfusion or else he cannot get well and live, what does the doctor create in the patient but a greed for the blood of another human creature? -Watchtower May 15, 1950 page 159
So, according to the WT, people who accept blood transfusions (because they want to live and be there for their children) are greedy! WTF!!!
so i was posting on the forum and 2 neatly dressed jws came.
they didnt know who i was so i opened the door.... .
they started with their regular fear inspiring statements that god will destroy the "world", so i asked if he was gonna destroy me..... and thats where the fun started.
If they're your typical Jay Dubs, they probably ran back to their group conductor afterwards (at the donut shop) to brag about this wonderful experience and how Jehovah helped them find the appropriate Biblical texts to convince an atheist that the Bible was written by God... after which the group conductor will probably have them comment on this "experience" at the next service meeting... They'll say something like: "thanks to the holy spirit we were able to defend Jehovah's inspired Word" or some other dub-speak...
It’s interesting how the WT “humbly admits” their lies errors in something as tucked away as an Index (which they know that very few JWs will pay any attention to anyway) but then they’ll blatantly lie or whitewash their history in a high-budget video production such as the DVD distributed at the last District Assembly (Faith In Action).
For example, the index refers to 1874 as the year once held to be the start of Christ’s presence. Yet the DVD paints a different picture when the narrator (referring to an Article that Russell wrote in 1876 about the end of the Gentile Times) makes the following statement:
“What would happen at the end of those years? They (the Bible Students prior to 1914) reasoned that since Jesus is the only one qualified to assume the throne of David, then Christ himself would begin ruling in 1914.”
This is completely F A L S E… The Bible Students didn’t reason anything! They were taught (as the tucked-away index mentions) that he assumed the throne in 1874 and it wasn’t until the late 1920’s that Rutherford changed this to 1914.
But the DVD (Faith In Action) subtly squeezes in this false information again, right after GB member David Splane makes this absurd assertion:
“This is not a work of man. This is a work of Jehovah God. It’s evident that Jehovah had already chosen this organization because of the faithfulness and the sincerity of the men who were behind it.” (excuse me while a barf for a second)
Then the “anonymous” narrator continues:
“Rather than giving in to the disappointment over what did not happen in 1914, the Bible Students kept their minds open to the significance of what had taken place. The world war and its aftermath had become the world shaking events proclaimed by Russell almost 40 years earlier. The Bible Students were coming to the realization that Christ’s presence began in 1914 and that the last days were underway.”
False, false, and false…
1. The Bible Students didn’t keep their minds open to anything… they weren’t allowed to
2. The Bible Students didn’t come to any realization regarding Christ’s presence, they just went along with whatever “present truth” was shoved down their throats… in this case, they were told that Jesus presence began in 1874.
3. And they certainly didn’t come to any realization regarding the last days as they were taught that these started in 1799.
My point is… the WT will occasionally “come clean” about their past by cleverly tucking away truthful information in rarely-referred-to printed info (such as an index or the rarely-read Proclaimers book). In doing so, they can always say “You see, we DID admit we were wrong”. But where they would stand to get the most exposure (in a DVD, for example) they will use verbal gymnastics to whitewash or even blatantly lie about their past and what they in fact predicted. Unfortunately, the rank-and-file are totally oblivious to this and the WT uses this to their advantage…
