Elder book....Not the shepared
by itsbeenalongtime ini remember a friend of mine telling me that her husband had a book that were used byt elders only....i am not sure if this is the same book as the topic posted before..but i was wondering if anyone had a copy or knew where i could get a copy.
i am talking about the book that has all the experiences of what to do in a judicial meeting.
i remember when i had mine i could hear one of the brothers reading it and at the end he said those brothers found it grounds for a disfellowshiping..however i was df'ed..but i know that no one is allowed to read it but the elders and for some reason i do not think it is the shepard book.

Never heard of it... as far as I know it's just the Shepherd Book... But what do I know, I only got as far as MS...
The reason I say this is because my elder brother-in-law sent me an email the day saying that I had an attitude that is covered in the Shepherd Book... I came really close to asking him: "Are you referring to the BRAZEN attitude described on page 60?"... of course that would have tipped him off immediately and would give him the power to turn my family against me... I wasn't about to let this arrogant SOB get his way...

Worst Night of the Year
by Quendi inwell, it's that time of year again.
the memorial season is upon us and jws the world over are getting ready for the celebration which this year falls on 17 april.
for the first time since 1975, yours truly will not attend and i couldn't be happier.

You're not alone!
At last year's memorial, I was directing traffic and helping elderly sisters park their cars... this year, I will be no where near a Kingdom Hall and thanking Jesus for allowing me to realize that this is just one perfectly orchestrated scam... Also, I have to wonder if this ritual is, in fact, Satanic... particularly since the blood and body of Christ is passed around and rejected (not consumjed)... just makes you wonder...

Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?
by Alfred in(a little background info before i ask my question...).
my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!
she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

Thanks everyone!
Looks like we have varying points of view on this subject. But it appears that there is certainly some truth to what my sister-in-law ranted about the other day. Personally, I was the one who always volunteered to pay the bill... I usually just told everyone at the table to give my wife their fair share (trusting them completely... how incredibly gullable of me). My wife did tell me a few times that maybe I should let someone else pick up the tab since she believed I was being taken advantage of occasionally. However, my group was usually just 4 to 6 JWs so I never noticed this.
Cyberjesus... I totally get it... No one should have to worry about conducting performance evaluations of employees when they go to a restaurant... most people just want to eat in a relaxed atmoshpere and leave as soon as they're done. But the "unwritten" (and sometimes written) rules about restaurant etiquette do exist and no one should be granted a free pass regardless of their financial situation (especially if they're aware of these rules).
I do have my theory on why this might be happening in some cases... I really believe that some JWs (pioneers in particular) feel that Jehovah will understand if they fail to tip their waitor appropriately so they give themselves permission not to. I also believe that some actually reason that if Jehovah wanted them to tip the waitor, He would have sent some kind of "sign". In the absence of such a sign, they assume that Jehovah has a different purpose for that money (such as contributing to the "worldwide" work)... that's my take based on my 36 years of observing JW behaviour patterns...

He was really covering the "business ethics" portion of the class and illustrating how honorable people should never have anything to hide.

(A little background info before I ask my question…)
My sister-in-law (non-JW), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a Kingdom Hall, just found out that my wife and I have recently “faded”, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day… You guessed it: She wanted us to know that JWs are the worst customers ever! She then told us some really embarrassing stories about how JWs would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a Sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the JWs would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was “diligent” or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway). She explained how her waiters would sometimes argue over who had the last JW table. The very first time she interrupted two of her waiters during their argument (to find out what the fuss was all about), they basically told her that JWs take forever to decide what they want, ask way too many questions about the menu and, after overstaying their welcome, give very low tips.
She also mentioned that she especially dreads “Memorial” night because 35 or so JWs would suddenly show up at 9PM (when the restaurant is cleaning up just prior to closing for the day) and the restaurant employees would practically have to re-arrange the entire restaurant (only to set it up again for the next day). She never understood this since the party of about 35 usually had smaller “cliques” within the group (of about 4 to 5 JWs each) who only conversed with each other all night and practically ignored the other cliques sitting at the table. The only time the different “cliques” actually interacted with each other was when the bill (or bills) came so that one clique would not end up getting away with paying less than everyone else. Occasionally a brief argument would ensue over the tip amount and who should pay for what, but there was always a “father figure” (possibly an elder?) who kept the peace by kicking in a few more dollars (but never enough to reach the minimum suggested tip).
Anyway, she asked me if this is a common ritual among JWs (showing up in large numbers after a meeting or event and then leaving a small tip) or if this was just a “local” issue. Oddly, I didn’t think of this when she asked me the question but I recently read “Apocalypse Delayed” which touched on this subject (on page 87) where it states the following about the famous 1958 Yankee Stadium/Polo Grounds convention:
“But clerks, restaurant workers, and others were often happy to see Jehovah’s Witnesses leave. Their presence caused overwork and they were notoriously poor customers and tippers.”
So it appears that JWs have earned quite a reputation at restaurants over the years. So my question is this: Am I generalizing when I assume this is a wide-spread issue? Also… Does anyone here work at a restaurant which is occasionally visited by large groups of JWs? What has been your experience? Thanks!

Stopping my bible study with the JW's
by salsa girl inthis is my first post after lurking for months.
hopefully i won't make any mistakes while typing and trying to post this so please bear with me!.
i had a bible study with jehovah's witnesses and i stopped the studies with them a couple of years back.

Salsa Girl... your observations have been made by many a witness who have taken the blinders off... appearances DO in fact matter and there IS constant gossip in almost every KH... that's what people do to fill the void in their monotonous lives...
When I used to put in at least 10 hours a month, commented at least 8 times a month, wore the same 3 suits over and over, I wasn't a target. Why? Because this wasn't "super-star" pioneer activity but it was just enough activity to get the heat off me...
Once my hours dropped to 4 hours per month, comments to 1 (or none) per month and drove a luxury sports car, I became "marked" almost immediately... I also became the main subject of all gossip in the congo. How dare I drive up to the KH one Sunday morning with the best car on the lot? (this really blew away one of the "materialistic" elders who was noticeably jealous) Shame on me... It only got worse when I started expressing deep concerns over the WT's ever-changing doctrines, failed prophecies and flawed chronology...
But you're absolutely right... this IS a dangerous religion...

POLL/SURVEY- Why Did You Leave The Organization of JW's?
by PublishingCult inwhy did you leave the organization of jehovah's witnesses, and/or why are you contemplating leaving the organization of jehovah's witnesses?.
i've tried to boil it down to the most likely answers based on all the reasons i have heard over the years from xjw's.
a. because the watchtower bible & tract society does not have the truth.. b. because i had a personality conflict with other members of the organization.. c. because i discovered that the wtbts was not being honest or forthcoming about its history.. d. because serving jehovah was too difficult and i just wanted to be worldly and do wicked things.. e. because the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have proved to be false prophets.. f. because i found just cause to disagree with erroneous jw teachings.. g. because the governing body and/or elders were hypocritical.

Basically, I left after discovering the real truth about 607-1914 and how the Society has blatantly lied about this all these years and continues to lie about this ridiculous doctrine. The "overlapping generation" was just the straw that broke the camel's back...

12 The influence and spirit of this world is to get ahead, to make a name for oneself. Many schools now have student counselors who encourage one to pursue higher education after high school, to pursue a career with a future in this system of things. Do not be influenced by them. Do not let them “brainwash” you with the Devil’s propaganda to get ahead, to make something of yourself in this world. This world has very little time left! Any “future” this world offers is no future! Wisely, then, let God’s Word influence you in selecting a course that will result in your protection and blessing. Make pioneer service, the full-time ministry, with the possibility of Bethel or missionary service your goal. This is a life that offers an everlasting future! –Watchtower March 15, 1969 page 171

Official WT website explanation of refusal of blood. Not much of an explanation.
by ThomasCovenant inthis is the jw-media.org official explanation of why witnesses refuse blood transfusions.
it strikes me as being a little weak in its explanation.
''our view of medical care.

Alfred
Notice how they quickly divert the focus of this sensitive subject towards "non-blood" medical alternatives in a cowardly attempt to get themselves off the hook for causing thousands of deaths... tell that to the JW parents of a child who is dying right now in a 3rd-world country because these "alternatives" are not available within a 500-mile radius... Even if these were available, they probably wouldn't have the money to pay for this treatment anyway and the GB most certainly would not authorize any funds for these hopeless and desperate parents... after all, the GB needs this money to advance "kingdom interests" which doesn't include saving children's lives...
