Personally, I never play a game of Chess without a rifle across my lap.
We'll see if those little mutherf-----s who call themselves my family can humiliate me this time around!

awake 1973 3/22 p.12 "...the spirit of competion between players can lead to unplesant circumstances...most families manage to keep the conflicts that arise in games to the chess board.
but in some homes tensions linger long after checkmate.
chess has been a game of war since it originated...a play substitute for the art of war....a danger of stirring up competition with one another even developing hostility towards another, something the bible warns christians to avoid doing...what effect does chess have upon one?

3 months ago one of my friends emailed me that.
he was invited to a jw "get together" to have some.
fun.
Chess is frowned upon?
this is an excerpt from awake!
march 2011 page 22. it's an experience of jw who used to be a real shepherd and he is talking here about real sheep.
why is it reminding me of something and why does it give me shivers?:.
People often forget that even the best shepherd doesn't shepherd the sheep for their own welfare - he does it for his. And eventually all of those sheep wind up as mutton.
my eldest son (40) and his jw mom (in here 60,s) can not have a. decent conversation before he storm off in anger.
all famlies have their problems, we are no different.
but for years.
@ MrsJones, I just meant the real extras.

I have to say that I don't think there's anything wrong with requiring your kids to pay for extra stuff and pay for their bills as early as possible. That's just a good life lesson about not assuming that you're owed something.
Otherwise you can wind up like my little cousins who have a spineless mother and ZERO respect for her. One day, my aunt and my mom were driving and my aunt said she was going to start bicycling. My cousin told her, "Mom, you're too fat to bicycle." My aunt said nothing, but my mom slammed on the breaks and pulled him bodily out of the van (and he was 17 at the time.)
it seems as if they have survived it all.
bad press such as articles on molestations, neutrality, blood, defections of high ranking officials, crazy changes in doctrines, financial stresses, passage of a 100 years without one prophecy coming true.
yet they are still going strong with new members being recruited at a faster level than those who leave.
The people who say it's never gonna fall point out that it's been around for 130 years. But all of those scandals happened in the last 35 years. This is a recent thing, and the problems are accelerating. The lack of elders and the fact that 2/3rds of young people leave will doom it. They don't make converts, they are losing most born-in membership, and the entire organization is built around being ... an organization. Once they lose the infrastructure to maintain branch offices and the whole Catholic-esque hierachy, they fall apart because they won't survive the transition to decentralized groups.
i'm 19 and trying to get a job.
my dad won't pay for my college if i don't pioneer.. if i get a job, i can't pioneer while in college.. i can supposedly work and study, but i need a good way to get rid of pioneering (it was never my idea in the first place - blame the parents with their social coercion).. if i stop pioneering, i will be told by my parents that i don't love jehovah (not that i care what they say).. how can i do this as painlessly as possible?.
i want to move out someday and have enough money to do this.. by the way, if you read my started topics you will see my situation in more detail and that my dad is the coordinator of the boe..
Dude, forget all of this stuff about fading or faking. Hit the road and don't look back or you'll spend a very long time as a slave. Go get a job somewhere, move if you have to, find a place to live, and then worry about the rest.
well, i know its a bit self-serving since i allready posted this in jwfacts thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/199939/1/watchtower-images-required, but i think its quite funny and things have been kind of serious around here for the past couple of weeks.. it seem to me that when jahs chanel have desided (im kidding, they has been told) the one and true god really hate christmas and will kill you in nasty ways if you go ahead and celebrate it, it provide a pretty compelling case for not celebrating christmas.
but the governing body can make an even stronger case than that: not only will jesus cry and clice you up if you celebrate christmas, you will also have a really bad time.
wow!.
Oh, and someone said that was bad photography work. But consider how it makes you feel. What are the unspoken messages in the skewed camera angle, etc?

Has anyone on here ever had the thought that Jesus became an apostate and was not only disfellowshipped by the Faithful and Discreet Slave of his day, the "Pharisee class," and was eventually killed by them?
I don't mean this as some snarky point - I'm being rather serious. Jesus went up against men who, by all the accounts in the first century, were chiefly concerned with making absolutely certain that they did not contravene the Law, but who did so by adding on so many extra obligations that no normal man could keep them, and he was expelled for doing so. Consider if Jesus came to the Kingdom Hall today - he wouldn't turn in service hours, rather helping people he found; he wouldn't play the gossip game; he wouldn't comply with all of the minuatiea and regulations added on by fallible men who neither enter into the Kingdom of Heaven themselves nor allow others to go in.
my forever true-believing, born-again-jw mother just sent this to my daughter.
i love how this is saying "jehovah please murder 6 billion humans so i can be happy.
" remember, folks: things are worse than they ever have been in the entire span of recorded human history, and you can't possibly hope to endure.
I seem to have remember Jehovah being a better poet in the Psalms than when he replied to the "poet" who wrote this.
