you really can't make this stuff up.

but an organization like the wt society bent on controlling virtually every aspect of the typical jehovah's witness life - would make this up to keep their control through the use of fear and guilt.

so- i thought i'd share what i thought was the strangest, most offensive, weird language dealing with what the wt society calls " disfellowshipping offenses " .

Could perhaps an elder or former elder answer this question....... Why would a woman need to report being raped to the elders? If a woman were raped and didn't report it, and it was later found out, how would that be handled normally?

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the WTS thinks a woman who is raped (or a man for that matter) would need to report it. If it were a child reporting being molested, they claim they need two witnesses. I don't get it. could someone answer what the WT viewpoint is on this?

Anyone still feeling apprehensive about celebrating Christmas?

just go ahead and do it in some way if you like.

put off the wts thinking and enjoy your family and life.

Although I've been DF'd for about 8 years now, I've never really celebrated it. I am married to a "worldly" woman who loves Christmas. She tells everyone that this is my first Christmas. I really don't care one way or another about it. I put the tree up one day when I was off work and she was at work. She was thrilled. Personally, I haven't really understood what is so wrong about it since there is absolutely nothing pagan about what we are doing. Even if it has pagan origins, and I'm sure some of it is, there is nothing about bringing honor to Marduk or any other pagan god.

i am a da'd dub circa 1993 (born in).

i have been an extremely successful business owner over the years but about 6 months ago augered in from about 60k feet.

my jw parents have been aware of my situation.

Don't assign ulterior motives. Your dad loves you! My dad allowed me to stay with him for a while too when I was DF'd. We were close. He was still a faithful JW, but we were close. He passed away a 4 years ago this past Monday. I wouldn't trade a minute of the time I was able to spend with him.

I suggest you take him up on his offer. You won't regret it.

Here are the clues:

1rst clue: I'm thinkin about a name...he played a dangerous game.

When the pressure was high...his ballskills would not lie... Clue: this guy was one of the greats of the game...thou he is dead now...its no shame..... Clue: crowds watched him in n.y.c. He broke records and ran free...sometimes he was hard to see... Clue:spent time near lambeau field...he was the real deal.... Clue: He ate so much apple pie,he gained a ton of weight...so early retirement...became his fate!!!!.... Clue: John Candy Clue: I think he was a preacher but lord I can't recall his name.He was runnin out of wind but talkin to me just the same.5willgetya10..game Clue: And here she's acting happy,inside her handsome home..and me I'm flying in my taxi...takin tips and gettin stoned,,,... Today's Watchtower study shows how desperate they are

it seems as though at least one article in every issue of the study watchtower is devoted to reinforcing the governing body's authority.

I think the WTS and the GB have painted themselves into a corner with the F&DS doctrine. They have to maintain control as the GB and have to speak for the F&DS in order to maintain control and ensure all doctrine is cleared through the members of the GB.

On the other hand, they can't say that only the GB is the F&DS because the account of Paul in the first century clearly shows he did not answer to anyone other than Jesus. They point that he met with a group of older men who acted as a "Governing Body", but that was only after Paul had been commissioned to preach by Jesus.

Therefore, they can't assume total control of the F&DS or they would clearly be puting themselves in the place of Jesus. Conversly, they have to assume control of doctrine and allow it to only come through them in order to keep control of what all members believe.

It's going to be quite a conundrum going forward. Especially with all of the articles pointing to the governing body as distributing spiritual food instead of the F&DS class.

it's the co's visit this week at "my" hall.

i've been dreading this week and now the nightmare is starting to unfold :s the co just called wanting to know how i'm doing.

It's not necessarily "Fake love." I think it's wrong to assign wrong motives to people just because you don't believe they have the truth. The fact is, CO's are just as much capable of Christian love as anyone else. In the JW world, if you stop attending meetings, you are spiritually weak, and they think that means you won't survive armageddon. We all know this. Most of us have thought the same way when we were in.

I agree with ele-lux. Be polite, and kind. Just say thanks, but you won't be able to meet. Don't lie.

Why don't JWs celebrate Thanksgiving

My dad, who was a faithful JW until his death had an interesting viewpoint of it. He said that if we refuse to eat turkey on thanksgiving, or refuse to visit with family who we would normally visit just because it's Thanksgiving day, we would actually be observing the holiday and therefore displeasing Jehovah. He said just do what we would normally do that day, and don't give it anymore signifigance than we would any other day. I can't agree with a lot of what JW's believe, but my dad sure tried to be balanced on things.
