A question regarding district convention finances

i don't recall ever hearing a financial report at one of the big summer conventions.

do i have blocked memories, or are they even more secretive about money at that level than they are at the circuit events?

i'm doing a little research on the instructions for handling circuit assembly accounts and that got me curious about the bigger conventions.

It's the exact same announcement and form used for assembly's.

The major difference between a convention and an assembly is that few flinch with the convention costs. Usually only a couple of selected brothers know the true cost. Because they find convention facility's cheapest point of the year many times I've seen the travel b budget greater than the rental cost. People would be surprised.I did notice that last year the total costs were up but no idea why, it's possible the per publisher charge was added then.

I've heard some brothers say that conventions are the real funding for the org besides #1 charitable planning.

Just think of the bad press alone if they produced the documents. Protecting the money train will likely mean a larger default judgement. And a another appeal.

i am so bad at being worldly, it's not like i gave it a good try, we are just not good at it my husband and i, i see him light up as he has started to read the bible again.

i'm good at being a witness, i am accepted, and hold the same beliefs, i have tried to find somewhere else, if there is a place, why hav'n't jehovah and the angels directed me to it?

thank you for all the loving posts, some of them have been just what i needed.

All of us desire to be individuals, not worldly. Worldly is just a way of saying one is not bound to rules and regulations of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.

For many that do leave that does not preclude them from having faith or even reading the bible. I know many individuals whom were never Jehovah's Witnesses and yet the read the bible daily, meditate on it and have great faith.

If the son of man had no where to lay down, should we assume the same? Just as leaving_quietly so eloquently stated its whom.

I'm sorry that some made you feel mocked, and or named called. Its not civil. Religion can bring a lot of emotions to the table for many. After all many feel that they are only one with real knowledge.

If they didn't believe it, they likely would not keep hammering or doubling down on control. They are afraid to loose what they have. If you had everyone else telling you were the King of Saipan, over time you'd likely believe it as well.

Delusion goes multiple directions.

Reminder about language and content

while the vast majority of posts that the majority of posters share are perfectly fine (which we appreciate) i've noticed we have a few cases where bad language, crude innuendo and outright misogyny is creeping in.. this is not acceptable.. we're not certainly not prudish and neither are we going to enforce puritanical rules - sometimes a politically incorrect joke is funny as hell and sometimes strong language is justified.

but often times content is completely out of place and cannot be justified.. so, please don't post crude content or use expletives just to be "shocking".

it's childish and immature and won't be tolerated.. thank you to all the people this has nothing at all to do with..

While there is a time and place for everything, sometimes swearing is the only easy way for us to diminish the pain that has been inflicted on us by the Borg. As this place is as much to heal as much as it is for new ones to visit. I would agree that misogyny has no place anywhere.

Tough to please everyone isn't it.

out for a long time

my husband and i have been out for a long time, maybe fifteen years, i must say we are in a bit of a nowhere land spiritually, we find it impossible to attend any other church.

we really resent so much of how they messed up our and our children's lives.

we can't get back all those 25 years we were in.

Its quite possible that what you are missing is a support network, not a spiritual experience.

A good support network will likely provide the good habits, maybe even the singing and fellowship you desire.

As GoneAwol stated - its always the JW way or the highway. Don't let self-deception of longing for things you enjoyed deceive you from the the truth about the truth. Living a lie is not an easy thing to deal with, and comes at great emotional cost.

so, cra has fixed the glitch whereby they had probably posted the annual return of a small congo.. at first glance, there was disappointment that the gb's begging has been paying off.

so, donations are at an all-time high, up by 10% (line 4500).. more staggering, gifts from other charities exploded to $33.5 million (line 4510).. as a result, total revenue is at a staggering $83.3 million (line 4650).. however, expenses are still high, with supplies increasing by $5 million (line 4891).

(really explains the push to digital, and discontinued publications.).

LT investments were probably loans to KHs.

It would also explain increase in donations from other charities as they are no longer loan payments coming in.

I'm with you OTWO.

The memorial is pure power control. Watch everyone pass the wine and bread so that you all acknowledge someone is in charge of you, and controls you. Its us the GB. The exercise does nothing more than support the class structure they have developed for themselves.

Maybe it will die out when the overlapping generation that overlapped the last overlapping generation. But they would have to kill the control structure or make it different say, only the anointed should touch the bread and wine, so that its a video/live link to a bethel memorial. Would give them control over number of partakers as well. (Don't steal my idea without credit WT).

Can you imagine the excitement of all getting to watch TPT and the rest of the GB slurping away. It would make them even bigger gods in the eyes of most JW.
