what an interesting group here!
i have a question to toss out to those of you who were once active jw's that are now born again.. i was a "zealous" jw - raised as one and was an aux pioneer, etc.
my whole family is jw's (elders, etc.).
Welcome aboard Dawn,
I have been out for about 20 years now and have either investigated or have been involved with many different organizations. I still have not found the right one nor do I beleive now that the true religion even exists. It seems that whenever a teaching is being shoved down my throat that I questioned, I was aways told to "Pray About It and God will show how it is true". After being told that by several different organizations, I realized that it was a type of mind conditioning by that church.
Other things to look at is the fact the Holy Bibles was once a pile of individual books and letters. After the time of Christ, someone took all these documents. At least the ones that survived time and assembled them into a group. Then it was decided (by man)which ones to keep and which to set a side. The ones kept were compile to what is now our bible. This was done long after Timothy said in 2Tim 3:16 about "all scriptures". I wonder if the letters and books tossed aside were once the ones considered benifitial by Timothy? This book is now considered to be God's word and reinforced this belief by quoting 2Timothy. But the scripture I like the most is 2Cor 11:12-15. Remember that one while at someone's door talking about a different religions!
To sum it up Dawn, if you are happy, then go for it. But be very carefull and don't get caught into some you will be sorry for.
Good luck in your search....
well, i was tempted but i decided not to go to the most bizarre religious ritual of modern times....how about you?.

There is an active JW at my company. We spoke briefly for a while and when I started to leave, he was shocked when I wished him a good time tonight. As for me, I will find the biggest cigar that money will buy, open an ice cold molson and watch the Thursday night double feature of "JAG".
it seems to me that there have been a lot of posters on board of late and many only started in recent weeks.
we're glad to have you aboard.. we usually like to acknowledge the first posts of newbies but i fear that because of the huge number of posts being made many of us have not been able to keep up with everything that's happening.. so i'd like to take the opportunity of saying a special "welcome!
' to all those i've missed in acknowledging.
Hi Ozzie,
I've been out since 1981 and tried to go back several times. For years their teachings have effected me in many ways along with one attemped suicide soon after I left. I always thought the problem was me. Soon after I found this site and reading other peoples stories, I found that the problem was the Society and it's mind control over millions. Everything soon started fitting in place and I feel like I now belong to special group of friends.
Thank you Ozzie and to everyone else on this site!!
for some time now i have been reading numerous indivisual life stories relating to their experience with the jws and one obscure ( or at least not directly elabourated upon) detail keeps popping up.. it would appear that whenever a person leaves the organisation by da/df/ia that people take it upon themselves to start spreading "nasty rumours" about the person in question.. it always seems that so much of these said rumours that were frabicated and then propagated throught the local jw community that the poaster almost never seems to have time to goint any detail about what exactaly was said about them in detail.. i would like to invite the posters here on the board to shed some light on their experience regarding their reputation after leaving the kh.. it would appear that once disfelloshipped that the jw community must make it abundantly clear that the person is of absolutely deplorable character inorder to justify their inhumane treatment of the df'ed indivisual.
saying that there is no honourable way to leave the oragnisation this seems to be rather common place.. i am also informed that even if the df'ed person were permitted to return that their reputation within the jw community would never be the same due to the tarnishing of their name and the stigma attached to being df'ed.. i may not be entirely too shure about this one but it would seem that if while still in good standing should the indvisual to become "publicly reproved" or "marked" that this would also be an invitation for the local jw community to begin the same process of defaming the character of the person in question.. would anyone care to discuss your personall experience relating to any private information which became public knowledge after you left the jw community or any half truths that were deileberately propagated to tarnish your name in the vacinity of the kh.
and even worse yet blant lies that were imagined and promoted about you inorder to permanatently damage your character.. i would also be interested in who exactly you think were responsible for the iniation of these rumours.. was it the elders?
When I was disfellowshiped, I was in good standing with all the membership. I just wanted out of the organization. I went off to college and joined a fraternity for the time of my life. I periodicly bumped into old friends whom would keep me up to date with the activities and gossip of my old Kingdom Hall. To the best of my knowledge, there were no rumors about me. As I write this, I realize that the people were actually nice to me.
After graduation I moved to another state and years later decided that I wanted to come back. I contacted a kingdom Hall near my house and started to attend meetings. I would sit in my car until the music started and then enter the hall. As I entered, most of the people whom were comming in late would smile and nod at me. (Of course they would look around for any Elders first). I attended for several months. During this time several Ministerial Servants would stand in the back of the hall, sometimes behind me and wisper. When ever I turned around, I got nasty looks from them. I figured that I could take anything that they could dish out to me because I felt that it was the "Truth".
One particular Sunday during the W.T. meeting, the topic of "this generation" was announced along with their lame excuse for it's new meaning. I was shocked and looked around the hall. There was no reaction from them as they sat there like blind sheep. The wheels started turning.
The following Thursday, I attended the Theogratic School meeting and had to leave early to cover an evening shift at work. I stood up and those same A**HOLE Servants and an Elder were standing in the back giving me nasty stares again. It was dark out and as I approached the glass door to leave, the reflection off the door was like a mirror. I slowed my pace to the door as I focused on the reflection of "Jehovah's chosen shepards". The Elder was pointing at me and gigling while the other Sevants were covering their mouths and wispering and chuckling. I walked out the door for work and never returned.
This was about 6 years ago and I bet they are still laughing at me.
hi all i was thinking about this the other day and how the elders say that they have gods direction when they have judicial meetings, if that is the case and gods spirit is directing their decision then why do they have the allowance for an appeal, after all if god is supposed to be directing them there would be no mistake in the decision right?
any thoughts people?
Several years after I was disfellowshipped, I bumped into a person from the Hall. We started talking and he informed me of several elders that had been disfellowshipped shortly after I was. It was interesting that one elder was booted out after his wife learned that he had been having a long time sexual affair with a woman at work. Upon hearing this, I started laughing because he was one of the elders that was always on my case about not going out in service. He was also one of the the elders on my committee. How could this man have God's direction in disfellowshipping me, when he could not keep his pants zipped! Also the other elders that were disfellowshipped after me. How many months before I was kicked out were they out of Jehovah's favor? I was disfellowshipped for donating blood to a dying person. If the Society ever changes their view on blood, will I then be undisfellowshipped and welcomed back with open arms?
do you remember the times when you felt so good because you had done your bible study for the week.
that you not only had pleased god but you were obediant to the faithfull and discreet slave class.. that you thought that you belonged to a wonderfull organisation and you would do anything to show your loyalty, even if it meant death?.
well these poor women are under the very same cult mentality.
This pic reminds me of a sister years back. She was rather husky in size and when in field service, would loudly thump on the doors with her beefy fist. I remember we approached a home and the people inside ignored her knocks. She proceeded to hit the door so hard that the door and door frame would flex with each blow. The funny thing was she actually thought that the quicker she could get the message out, the faster Jehovah would murder the wicked and she would be relaxing in paradise for eternity.
years ago i remember reading an old book about the life of charles t. russell.
as a young man, russell was indignant with the major churches and at night used to write scornful letters and placed them on the buildings for the public to see.
he used harsh phrases such as "off spring of vipers" and "harlots".
GOZZ....
I never knew that Russell and Rutherford were disfellowshiped posthumously. Sort of like the Mormons baptizing the dead, but only in reverse. This "new light" stuff if new to me. I resently obtained the new Daniel book. I went from page to page trying to find the formula that results in the year 1914. I could not find it printed and this "new light" business is explaining a lot.
Thanks for the information

About 25 years have passed by since I read that dusty old book. As I sit here now, I remember how I used to explain to people at the door that Jehovahs Witnesses are separate from the world, just like the first century christians. (Boy was I wrong)
The more I hear about waivering on doctrines, mind control, lying, shunning and now getting in bed with the U.N., the more I feel that the Organization is no different than the churches that Russell used to despise. Yup, Mr. C.T. Russell must be real proud of his his church now!!
i like molson canadian, except when i`m out of the country.then i only drink imported beer...molson canadian.
Anything with "ICE", i.e., Bud Ice, Molson Ice or Icehouse. They are 5.5% vs. the normal 3.3%. That means more of a buzz for your money!! Oh and let's not forget Red Wolf.
