There was a new brochure in 2002. It's called "Jehovah's Witnesses & Education." Do you have the CD Rom library? It's on there if you do.

wasblind - I know someone who has been DF'd because of an alcohol problem. He had been going to AA meetings for a long time and the elders told him to stop. Fortunately this guy refused to stop going and told the elders he needs to go to the AA meetings to keep his problem in check. Apparently the elders were ok with it when he told them he replaces their idea of "God" with "Jehovah."
I think it is so stupid that untrained elders can encourage an alcoholic to stop seeking help when they can't offer real help in return.

Have you read In Search of Chrisitian freedom? That really helped me not be afraid of Armageddon or anything like that. The whole religion fell to pieces.
And reading posts on here are helpful for deconstructing phobias and JW teachings.

Your wife is only 6 months postpartum? She may be having a difficult time caring for 2 children or struggling with PPD. This on top of everything just adds to her stress. I know that this is not your fault, and you need to be true to yourself. But just so you can see where she's coming from. She's just protecting her kids the best she knows how, just like you want to. She's totally blinded by the cult. I know you love your wife, so I think you really need to stop before she does something really crazy.
I know you're both hurting right now, and I hope that you can patch things up to make her see that your family is #1, despite your differering views.

The Society, having lost its younger generation, now appears to be doing its darndest to lose the older ones as well
by sir82 infrom all the "annual general meeting" notes floating around, one quotation stands out in particular:.
many older ones already are telling the younger ones how they regretted not getting an education, pursuing a lucrative career, saving up money or not having a retirement plan.
the sad truth is that such ones are like the murmurers of israel when coming out of egypt.. what does this remark tell us?.

They are crazy! My husband's grandma is 85 and she was saying how she wasn't supposed to grow old in this system. She's been living alone for over 40 years, and she said it was too long to be alone. My heart broke for her. She dedicated her life to the Borg, and now they're calling her a "murmurer." They are showing who they really are.

Children have basic human rights, why does the US ignore this right in regards to JW's Blood Doctrine?
by sabastious ini can't physically or sexually abuse my child, at least legally.. why?.
because my country, and others alike, have adopted a code of ethics surrounding children.. ...they have basic human rights.... these rights transcend the family unit and it's jurisdiction.. that being said, how do jws hide behind "freedom of religion" when sentencing their children to suicide?.
why can't i start a religion that says it's ok to murder people?

"I think sometimes the courts get fooled by the Witness lies that their adherents are "informed".
I agree with Wobble. There was a case last year in Canada where a teen sued because she was forced a blood transfusion. The province had to pay her $450,000 court fees, and ruled that her rights weren't violated. But they said that lower courts from now on need to consider the maturity and decision-making skills of minors before they force medical treatment on them. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/06/26/supreme-blood026.html
I feel this is so wrong. I was taught at a young age from the platform how to refuse a blood transfusion, and what to say if I needed to argue my viewpoint in court. The same reasoning I was taught was used by the teen in the above case: "I don't want to die, which is why I went to the hospital for treatment. I just wanted the best medical treatment without blood." I was taught that same line, word for word, 15 years ago. The witnesses can fool the court, making them believe they know what their choice means. But it took me 28 years to realize that the WT is not God's organization. Obviously my thinking ablitliy and decision-making skills weren't functioning properly until I woke up and realized I'd been sadly mislead my entire life. I would have fought to avoid a blood transfusion without fully understanding why, or how the scripture I would quote was taken out of context.
