The title of the article Vanderhoven posted is Accountable to a Governing Body?
Once again they have neither answered yes or no but instead use smoke and mirrors. On face value it looks like they are saying no but are in fact arguing yes.
.
i know the anointed never get consulted.
but is it true that the governing body has modified the definition of the faithful and discreet slave to exclusively apply to themselves and to not include the thousands of other anointed..

http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/scandals/103353/1/the-news-is-bigger-than-dateline-bbc-cbc-etc.
as many of you know, i made the "big news" statement when kerry louderback-wood's scholarly article about watch tower's blood misrepresentation that was published in the journal of church and state was just about to be published.
i was excited about it because lives were at stake and weve never had such an article before to be able to use to show how the watch tower misrepresents the blood issue through its literature and people die because of it.
It is the Big issues like these that remind us of the danger in putting our faith and trust in man. Although they believe they are accountable to God this accountability will only ever occur at a later date. It is people like you Barbara, who actively fight, that make them accountable now. The results are evident.
This whole blood issue is getting beyond rediculous, being able to now accept fractions is astonishing, something strange is happening within the organization to make this change. Although it has been prompted by human accountability it demonstrates a great lack of direction.
I don't know how widespread this is but the congregations in Australia appoint a person to be available for the members to appoint them as their medical power of attorney. I haven't seen the wording of the legal document that is signed but it is so frought with problems for both parties. I would imagine that it would go as far as directing the appointed attorney to act in accordance with the principles prescribed by the Governing Body. None of those involved are experts in the medical field. The reprecussions alone on being sued is great.
What really annoys me is the waste of valuable resources. This blood issue has now become so complicated that much of the medical professions time is wasted on dealing with issues. Not only is it time consuming but also costly and that puts at risk other peoples medical treatment.
jehovah's witnesses say center would have big impact.
a planned 3,000-seat educational center will have a substantial economic impact on orangeburg county over the next five years, jehovah's witnesses officials say.. .
the center could generate $264 million in revenues over a five-year period, with the added benefit of more than $18.4 million in new sales tax revenues for the local area, church spokesman bill sims said.. .
The center could generate $264 million in revenues over a five-year period, with the added benefit of more than $18.4 million in new sales tax revenues for the local area, church spokesman Bill Sims said.
With each person spending an estimated $66 per day, there will be a total annual revenue of $52.8 million, Sims said. With a sales tax of 7 percent, the total annual sales tax collections will be about $3.7 million with a five-year total sales tax projection of $18.5 million.
Officials project there will be about 40 two-day events held at the center annually with an estimated total attendance of 160,000 visitors a year.
There is something seriously wrong with their calculations. 160,000 attendees per year spending $66 each per day = $10,560,000 for the year then multiplied by five years = $52.8 million revenue. But they state that the $52.8 million is for one year, not five years and then gone ahead and multiplied that by 5 again (which totals 264 million).
Note also that they say the center will generate this revenue which means they would have included the initial building costs, the income (donations) that they would recieve, the running costs of the centre such as power ect and the spending an individual would make on such things as food, petrol etc. and then they have broken that down to $66 per individual per day.
the jws side of the story:.
police side with mob in attack against christian women in indiadavanagere, indiatwo women were attacked by an angry mob in karnataka state after comforting a grieving neighbor who had lost her husband.
one of the women was beaten, and both were detained by police.. two women who are jehovahs witnesses were invited into the home of their neighbor in the city of davanagere, located in central india, on the morning of december 20, 2010. the witnesses had met the woman a few years ago and were seeking to share a positive thought from the bible with her after learning that her husband had died.
Good points Onthewayou.
where the women were forced to sign papers that they were not allowed to read
No detail is provided about how they were 'forced'. As there is no comment by the org about the wrongness of signing something without reading it maybe it's now considered a good 'out'. I can only think in horror at the possibilities of many different statements they could have signed that would have brought great dishonor to God (and you think the org would be concerned that they could also have brought dishonor to their congregations)
i remember whilst being on holiday my jw inlaw, him looking at me with utter disgust that simply because he couldnt see images such as these, he felt that they were demonic & therefore i should not be having anything to do with them.
he said in no uncertain terms that i was to quit touching the unclean thing.. i was allowing satan into my mind !!!
lol.
Your inlaw sounds like a guy who is very narrow minded and just sees in black and white. He must believe that anything that is outside his realm of conception must be satanic and he certainly has his guard up. If he took the time to have someone explain how it works he would have been more acceptable to this imagery.
It was nice of him to be protective of you, unfortunately this type of paranoia tends to be fed by some JW teachings.
has anyone had a jw rant to them around christmas time about how "horrible" it is to be a "worldly" person at that time of year?.
certian jws love to use the infamous black friday shopping riots that tend to occur as examples to back up this argument.
now, while those incidents are indeed disgraceful, they are hardly isolated to the "world".. among my "priveliges" was to be an attendant at a few district conventions.
I'm surprised that priority is not given to the elderly and disabled.
i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".
Would I choose to associate regularly with
someone who has been disfellowshipped
or who has disassociated himself
They write such mixed messages. This would indicate that it is okay to associate with a df'd person but not on a regular basis.
feb 11 webcast: do the bible prophecies about israel apply to the jehovahs witnesses?.
in our february 11 webcast, ken rawson discusses whether bible prophecies about israel apply to the jehovahs witnesses.
is the watchtower organization the witnesses of jehovah mentioned in the prophecy of isaiah 43:10?.
Yes, all prophecies usually relate specifically to the annointed class and so as not to leave them out they sometimes relate to the GC as well.

If in your community there are others interested, then 4 or 5 of you, or more, can get together, for study, that would be a good thing
