  do you think that jw are more stressed out than worldly people.

  like feeling that they are not doing enought to please jehovah, not doing enought field service and not attending enought meeting etc.

  if this is the case on top of most jw suffer from depression.

  Spade an you explain how their interpretation of the blowing of the trumpets in Revelation 8 and their connection to 1920s conventions harmonizes with the whole of the bible in its entirety? Seems to me that this scripture is plucked out in a singular method and made to fit their own construction of events.

  This is wonderful news and makes my heart sing with joy. Thanks for sharing that fantastic news JM. Our scholars have become much better equiped and informed and it is a great work that they are undertaking.

  It stands to reason that God has allowed the bible to remain vertually intact for well over 2000 years and is willing to see that it remains so. It is his word, from him and belongs to him and there are many dedicated people who respect this to the utmost degree. There is no reason to think he would guide his holy spirit to allow only a select few JWs to maintain it's integrity, quite the opposite given the very limited distribution that occurs.

  Let's see how the GB views this new version and how willing they are to humble themselves and adopt it.

  i'm a good listener as my friends will tell you.. i am a born in jw, inactive for at least 2 years now.

  i originally joined this forum to find out what my husband was "up to".

  That's funny FF, I loved the bag with wheels bit.

  When you consider that they have been doing this witnessing month after month and year after year for a looong time it makes the idea of having to go out in fs with the most current magazines a lot of nonsense, especially if they only cover the same territory once every few months.

  my mom has been telling me since i was a kid stories about how my grandparents got divorced and amazingly enough the court awarded custody to my grandfather.

  he was a hardworking lumberjack, and a drinker.

  he was also irish catholic.

  If this was their reasoning then certainly they would be prepared to do anything outside man made laws.

  What an interesting story, I would write to the society and ask them to provide you with any details that they have. They may say those sorts of records have been destroyed so include in your letter a question about their reasons for not keeping any records if this was in fact the case.

  if you had to convince a prospective jw why this religion is not the true religion, and you could only use one reason to persuade them, what would it be?.

  They identify themselves as the one and only true religion where the GB is the only mediator between man and the heavenly kingdom and no-one else can worship God by any other way.

  how would you respond to the assertion that 7.2 million members of the jehovah's witness religion are not under any sort of mind control?.

  the argument being that every one is responsible for their own actions and cannot blame the indoctrinator for what he says and does.

  how could they possibly be under mind control?.

  It would be interesting to ask a JW exactly what would it take to stop putting trust in the GB, I doubt many could answer that as it would be a hypothetical situation to them. The bible warns that the faithful slave can become wicked and it is something that a JW should be able to identify.

  I don't know how taxes work in America but here in Australia tax is only payable on a net profit and Capital Gains. The net profit is the difference between the amount of income earnt and expenses paid. A capital gain is made when a property is sold for more than the amount that was paid for it (with concessions). So taxes are paid only on earnings over and above that expended. For a religous organisation to be required to pay taxes on this basis should be no huge burden but would mean they have less money in the bank or valued in assets held. The biggest hinderence would be that they have less money on hand to invest in future projects.

  so we've all heard the ramblings of obves and larsinger about the coming end of the world this year or next.

  i want to know what you think the exuses will be when they do not come.. harold camping is the one proclaiming may 21, 2011 as the time of the rapture and october 21, 2011 as the end of the world.

  when no one disappears on may 21st, what do you think his excuse will be?

  We were just testing you to see if you were awake up to the fact that no-one knows the 'day nor the hour'. As we personally truelly believe this we give you a stark reminder to heed this as the bible says there will be many false prophets in our time. So don't fall into this trap again.

  i was wondering what the gbs latest views were on the un given all the controvesy.

  they have quantified their views of the scarlet coloured wild beast as being only elements within the un.

This means that they don't view the whole of the UN to be targetted for distruction. (Sounds as confusing as the blood issue where some elements can be considered okay to transfuse). Is this drawing at straws to appease the UN or a genuine attempt to say that they have been too general in the past by labelling the whole of organisations as subject to destruction? If it is the latter then we may see in the future that there may only be elements of Christendom that will be destroyed.

  Something similar is about to take place in our day. Elements within the United Nations will be involved in the execution of divine judgment. Just as the Roman armies of the first century

  There is an interesting comment in the 2009 W 2009 9/15 which states the following -

  Kingdom and proclaiming the day of Jehovah’s judgment?

  The second quote is a newer quote than the first one and is not quantified as to there only being elements of the UN that make up the wild beast that will be

  destroyed but interestingly the scripture they quoted mentions not making partial distinctions, which is what they had done in the first quote.
