Even if the organization was more holy than though, the Elder was not being Christian in speaking so disrespectfully to the Minister. Shame on him.

Not that my father could not have afforded it but there is no way he would have us stay in a Motel during an assembly. It was always Caravan Parks for us. He had an old campervan that 7 of us would stay in.
Could someone advise if this is an option in the United States or the U.K. and don't JWs do that anymore?

Interesting that this new idea was first brought up at the 2010 annual general meeting. I wonder if there was any new light brought out in the 2011 AGM.
Mad Sweeney said
"Here's the information from the April 15 Kool Aid version of the WT article about holy spirit (not The Holy Spirit) with the setup lie and the erroneous conclusion based upon that lie in bold:
13
Third, holy spirit is at work in bringing Bible truths to light. (Prov. 4:18) This magazine has long been used by “the faithful and discreet slave” as the primary channel for dispensing increased light. (Matt. 24:45) For example, consider our understanding of those who make up “this generation” mentioned by Jesus. ( Read Matthew 24:32- 34....."
They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for saying that this garbage they speak was due to the holy spirit being at work.

Try phoning and asking for your money back and find out on what basis they will not return it to you. If they simply tell you their legal rights, that you voluntarily gave them this money and that they have no requirement to pay you back then discuss this further with them.
Explain to them that this is not a legal issue but rather a spiritual and moral issue and on what basis biblically do they feel they have no obligation to return the money to you even though you are asking that they do so. If you feel that they took your money through deceptive means and promises then tell them so.
I believe that the true christian would return money given freely to them if the giver had a change of heart and felt he was truelly being wronged by. The true christian would not want to be the cause of stumblying this man or be the cause of ill feelings. The true christian would also know that they were not dependant on this man's money but would rather put faith in the fact that God will provide.
Let's say there was a man who donated half his land and built a Kingdom Hall on it then titled to deed over to the local congregation. One day in the future he is disfellowhipped because he is not considered repentent enough. The man is shunned by all the JWs and his parents move out of his house. They continue to use the hall which is right next to the house. This man feels dishonored and used and asks for the congregation to return ownership of the land and hall back to him. Although they have no legal obligation to do so and do believe that the right thing to do would be to return it to him or to appropiately compensate him.
Unfortunately, religious organizations aren't generally interested in doing the Godly thing when money becomes involved.
If you do call, it would be great if you could record it.

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

It must hurt to read her response Winston, spending the time to give you one excuse after the other means she is hiding something or you are hitting a nerve with her and she can't ignore it, although she is trying. She isn't sure of herself in replying to you. You've given her a lot of things to consider and she has promised you she is going to do that. Don't feel too badly because it sounds like she really will consider things closely.
Personally, I would write to her sooner and really take issue with her not informing you of going overseas. Even if she believes the WTBTS is correct in their shunning doctrine they still allow communication on a 'need to know basis'. You obviously love and care for her very much and she is deliberately withholding this from you. It's not right and this just demonstrates how the shunning doctine leads to other unnatural and unloving behaviour. If the shunning doctrine was christian then we would see only good things and good behaviour resulting from it. I just don't understand why your mother would not let you know that she was going overseas and not allow you to come to their assistance if there was a need.

Qualifications for Gods Sole Channel--interesting article from the meletivivlon site
by Jon Preston inqualifications to become gods channel of communication[this article was contributed by apollos].
the new teaching of the appointment of the faithful and discreet slave has arguably made 1919 an even more important date to jehovahs witnesses than 1914. appendix b1 of the revised nwt bible shows a time line of the message of the bible in relation to gods rulership.
it is of note that the official doctrine of the establishment of gods kingdom in 1914 is not even mentioned only that satan was cast down around that time.. ever since the 1919 doctrine was announced at the 2012 agm, and subsequently published in the july 15th watchtower 2013, the appointment of the slave seems to have become a much more prominent topic in our teaching, and indeed in general discussion among witnesses.. of course we should remind ourselves that this new level of interest really has nothing to do with the date, and everything to do with the nature of the appointment.

Why would Jesus have chosen this man above all other men in the World? Oh that's right, he basically owned the WTBTS and without the WTBTS there would be no church today.

To feel the need to publish a photo, even a fake one, of their popes witnessing, speaks volumes in itself.
