  jesus verdict on john (matthew 11:7-17).. 7-9. johns preaching had created a sensation.

  ... jesus now show(s) the real significance of john.

  Thanks Doug for putting some prospective on this. It makes the JW message look miniscule in relation to this, or at least their idea that Russell depicted John the Baptist.

  It would seem that according to the WTBTS that Russell was the 'prophet' who declared that Jesus was now enthroned as King in that Kingdom of heaven in the year 1874. He gave this message and died believing it, even though many years later the Faithful & Discreet Slave declared that Russell's message was wrong and Jesus was enthroned in 1914.

  If there is a paralle then Russell was never part of that Kingdom of Heaven with Jesus reigning as King, although it supposedly occurred when he was still alive. It become very hard to make sense of this.

  ok, so, brother morris seems to have gone out on a limb with his comments about tight pants.

  yup, he's an opinionated man.

  but, i fully expect that there will be some reference to the scientific wisdom behind his words.

  I don't know if they will defend him on a scientific basis because then they would have to defend his other comments on the same basis. I expect they will at least write an article on modest dress, even citing previous articles that they have written on the subject. To justify the coloured socks comment they may suggest that it is not appropriate to dress in a way that makes them stand out from the crowd. They may even talk about designers, without a homosexual comment, but to suggest that they are worldly designers ready to entrap people in wearing inappropriate clothing.

  The article will probably come out sooner rather than later, or at least not their usual practice of taking months to bring out an article on something they want known.

  Millions now Living Will Never Die

  this is the title of a watchtower book published 95 years ago in 1920 by j f rutherford.

  it still gets an occasional mention at meetings about how it was a turning point in the history of the watchtower.

  but how many witnessess today can answer this question.who are these millions of people alive in 1920 that would never die?

  My understanding is that at that time (1925) those who were JWs/Bible Students were all anointed and they had the special heavenly hope.

  the juice of fresh grapes or cooked raisins,

  so as not to tempt those “weak in the flesh.” However,

  wine was provided for those who felt that

  “fermented wine was meant to be used.” The Bible

  Students later understood that unadulterated

  red wine is the proper symbol of Jesus’ blood.

  The above quote from the magazine is blaming the 'Watchtower' for it's incorrect understanding. It wasn't the fault of the faithful & discreet slave at all.

  i was head over heels for this girl, but when i realized i was in a self destructive cult i realized tieing the knot with her would screw up my future.

  this makes me think of the highschool sweethearts i turned down that were worldly.

  Is the WTS effectively 'pimping out' sisters?

  i can't remember the topic with the discussion about the talk where they suggested that sisters should only consider ministerial servants as potential marriage partners but think about the implications more.. are they trying to use the potential affections of sisters to enourage brothers to do more and work harder?.

  isn't this a form of 'pimping out' the sisters by limiting their attention to the people contributing to them?.

  it seems to cross a line to me but i guess it's not vastly different to "only marry another jw".. what do you think?.

  This only confirms that it is all about appearences. This is not about doing things such as becoming an MS because you have a desire to serve God in this way, but rather because there is some sort of reward associated with it and the GB are responsible for developing this desire.

  It doesn't make a marriage any better if a bloke aims at becoming an MS so that he will be more attractive to the sisters. This is not spiritual, it promotes greediness. Once a sister realizes that the man she married isn't as spiritual as she thought he was it will do more harm to the marriage.

  No wonder there is so much depression in this organization, because there is no reality. The aim for real spirituality is being overshadowed by appearances and false goals. The r&f is being led up the garden path, being misled into believing that what they are doing is spiritual when in fact it has no relation.
