January 2020 Watchtower - the anointed
by Listener init's very odd that the jan. 2020 watchtower was nearly 3 weeks later than normal.
another odd thing about this watchtower is that it has two articles (about the anointed) that is very similar to two articles they wrote only four years earlier.the fact that they have even reprinted two articles that are only four years old suggests that they continue to have numerous problems surrounding their teaching's of the anointed and problems with those claiming to be anointed.here are a few of the differences between both the 2016 and 2020 articles -2016 watchtower states.
anointed christians need to be taught by jehovah just like everyone else.. 2020 watchtower statesof course, anointed christians need to be taught by jehovah through the congregation just like everyone else.. four years ago, they acknowledged that it was only jehovah who were teaching the anointed but the newest watchtower now states that it is through the congregation.watchtower 2016 states there will be 144,000 ruling with jesus in heaven.

2020 Watchtower statesOf course, anointed Christians need to be taught by Jehovah through the congregation just like everyone else.
Four years ago, they acknowledged that it was only Jehovah who were teaching the anointed but the newest Watchtower now states that it is through the congregation.
Watchtower 2016 statesThere will be 144,000 ruling with Jesus in heaven. But the Bible speaks of “the remaining ones” of the anointed who are still on earth in this time of the end. (Revelation 12:17) So most of the 144,000 have already died and are in heaven.
They've left this out in the 2020 Watchtower which is interesting because they don't know exactly when the 144,000 began to be resurrected.
Watchtower 2016 statesIf we do not treat anointed ones as more important than others, we also protect ourselves. How? The Bible tells us that there might be “false brothers” in the congregation who may even say that they are anointed. (Galatians 2:4, 5; 1 John 2:19) Also, some anointed ones might not stay faithful.

The thought that there may be anointed "false brothers" in the congregation has been removed. No doubt the GB has decided that putting ideas like that in the minds of followers is not such a good idea.
These are not heart warming articles but instead, they are judgmental and tell both the so called anointed JW and the 'other sheep' exactly what they should be feeling, thinking, how to treat one another and what they are allowed to talk about and not talk about. -

It's funny how you put it like that Zeb. It does hurt the pay packet and it's a good reminder to start budgeting.

Sisters
by truthlover123 induring the first talk tonight, the brother giving the talk indicated that now comments were to include sisters!
previously mostly only brothers were mentioned in most prayers or comments - has anyone else heard this tonight?.
the meeting seemed to be positioned directly to and about sisters.

If it's a new policy, it's not reflected in the latest Watchtower.

Normal Family Relations Continue...My Arse....
by HiddenPimo ini think that the big issue here is the double standard based on the location of the family members - if they are 'immediate' meaning they live at home in the same dwelling under the same roof then it's ok but if you are like me and living on your own, your family will absolutely avoid contact with you as that is the real jw policy..the old canada court trial and recent swedish news are totally out of context and the jw attorneys are complete tools and filthy liars....

They constantly lie about it when it suits them.
Even if you are living at home, it can be a problem. It's horrible to be shunned in your own home.
It shows their doctrine to be complete nonsense when they one treatment for a child or marriage partner living at home and another when a family member is not living at home. If the child is old enough to live away from home, the expectation is that they leave.
They break families up.

But Pete Zahut, look at your descriptors and tell me where they don't apply to the GB. I'll concede that they are not automatically evil, that has been shown over time and also that they are not the cause of most of the worlds problems, just their own little world.
On that list should also be fatherless. I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on what that equates to as well Pete Zahut. 😀

I Wonder if Tight Pants Tony Helped to Write this on Sobriety in between sips of malt
by Slidin Fast infrom the official agm report: are you completely sober?.
brother geoffrey jackson made practical application of texts in the christian greek scriptures that use a term that literally means “sober.” he also stressed the importance of continuing to ‘keep our senses completely’ (literally “being sober perfectly”) during these last days.—1 peter 1:13.. .

It wouldn't surprise me if someone was having a go at Tony, knowing that he would be attending. I would be surprised if Jackson thought up this himself.
They are always having little niggles at each other during the AGM. This one would have topped them all. I can't wait to see whether this unnerved him but you can never tell what state of mind he his in anyway.

This is your first post here Tracy and I am wondering what your agenda is by bringing up this post about Barbara Anderson.
Barbara Anderson has worked for many years on Child Abuse and the JW organization. She is highly respected here and by many ex JWs. She has proven to be a serious problem for the organization and she has been discredited by them in the past.
You state that there is "some really good info sharing" in the link you provided which makes the claim that it is the victims who are the real hero's, whereas Barbara Anderson got something wrong. Could you please advise what this really good information is, rather than providing a link?
The link you do provide is from a poster that has only made three posts. Two of them are an attack on Steven Unthank, who was pivotal in highlighting JWs and their dealing with child abuse within Australia, well before the ARC was formed. The third post is the one you link to and is an attack on Barbara Anderson.
Whether or not the Elders in Australia were breaking the law by not obtaining a Working with Children clearence certificate is certainly up for debate but Steven Unthank was prepared to challenge this in court. Since the Australian Branch decided to comply with this law eventually then there was no further action required on his part to challenge their inactivity in this aspect. For the most part, it has become a non issue but it appears that there is someone or some people (JWs?, the Australian Bethel Branch?) who want to undermine the work of Steven Unthank and now Barbara Anderson.
I would think that both of these activists have much more important work involving JW child abuse activism than dealing with individuals who want to undermine that work. They are still both working very hard at attaining further reforms within the Watchtower. Their work has ultimately provided a better platform in which victims are better able to have their cases dealt with, either through personal support, reforms, and various other methods.
Again, could you please advise what this 'really good information' is?
Personally, I am of the opinion that this personal attack is nasty and somehow vindictive.
I haven't bothered to read the two reports written to undermine the efforts of Steven Unthank but it would come as no surprise if it did not include the very important work that he did on his submission to the Victorian Royal Commission on Child abuse and their review of the JW religion within Australia. Also, Steven Unthank provided a great deal of information here on this forum over the many years of his work in Australia (in real time) and included many documents and links to information as well as court proceedings.
