Thanks for sharing. No wonder they haven't changed this method of WT literature teaching.

The role of the Home Bible Study arrangement in JW brainwashing
by MrMonroe ini've just started reading "year of doom, 1975: the inside story of jehovah's witnesses" by english author j.c. stevenson.
it was published in 1967 as basically a memoir of his years in the dubs, including time as a pioneer, and an explanation of the methods used by them to make the organisation grow.. it's not the best "insider" book i've written, but there is a section i've uploaded below that makes some interesting points about the home bible study procedure and why it is so effective at turning interested people into baptism candidates.
reading through this, i see myself back in the mid-80s sitting there getting led, week by week, into the trap.. this section is from chapter 2, "the seed is watered" in which he explains the typical process following a few return visits.. .

Does Jehovah hate beards?
by brotherunsure inhas the watchtower ever rationalized their obsession with depilation or claimed there was a biblical basis for banning beards, or is it simply because jehovah's corporation/faithful and discrete slave says so?.

This has been discussed recently and is a good topic. They don't want to be part of the world and see beards as being a bit out there, that is, stepping outside the norm or conservative.
I don't know how old you are but in the 70's it was pretty much a fashion statement, up to the minute type of thing to do and was wrong for a JW to draw attention to themselves in such a way. Others have mentioned that bow ties probably do that and more.
I'm from Australia and beards are not viewed in any of those ways these days and really just comes down to a personal grooming choice, just like various hairstyles.
I don't know what the viewpoint is on this in countries where it is expected that a lot of guys will have beards. We have so many immigrants here that it would be unreasonable to expect a person to conform to a no beard policy if they were from certain countries.
There may have once been a principle behind this policy but it just shows how out of touch and inflexible the org is.
An issue could be made of females and the expectation not to wear pants in fs or at meetings.

Quendi and Wontleave, as someone already mentioned, thanks your thoughts are particularly well said.
Wontleave said - It's as though, somehow (by Jehovah's Holy Spirit, perhaps) they are compelled to tell the truth, even when they're about to lie. And their blinded minds don't even realize they give themselves away to anyone who is willing to see it.
I would appreciate it if you could expand on this. Do you think that even though they are stuck with some old beliefs and it limits them in being more accurate with bible teachings that somehow they get it fairly close to the truth?

As others have mentioned how are they able to prove it? Moses was appointed by God and he knew this without a doubt, God's messages were clearly conveyed to him by what we would call miraculous ways. How is it that the GB sure they were appointed without them just saying so? How has Jesus conveyed this message to them?

Thanks for your contribution Murray Smith. You have used excellant logic in your example
Consider this . . . would it be appropriate for an Israelite to "milk" blood from his animals, being careful not to kill them, for the purpose of pouring it on
the altar as a sacrificial offering? . . . I think not. It would hardly be regarded a "sacrifice" because the "life" it represented would still be within the
healthy animal.
One could also discuss the shedding of Jesus' blood similarly.

HELP Why dont we hear God/Angels
by frigginconfused inive heard time and time again that the gb does its best because "as we all know" god doesnt talk to us anymore.. so my question is this...is there and scriptual evidence that god has said he will be cutting off all communication to us.
all prophecy is done and the bible is the end all be all?.
unless the bible specificly states that god and the angels are silent then thats a huge game changer.. how is the food gonna be fed to us at the propper time unless we get new communication..

However, these miraculous manifestations of the spirit were to cease: “Love never fails. But whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away with. When I was a babe, I used to speak as a babe, to think as a babe, to reason as a babe; but now that I have become a man, I have done away with the traits of a babe.”—1 Cor. 13:8-11,
NW.
The purpose of these miraculous gifts upon the infant church was to get it started and established, to show God’s transfer of his spirit from the Jewish Mosaic Law organization to the new Christian system of things. After it had grown out of its infancy and maturely stood on its own feet, these miraculous gifts would no longer be practiced. They would not be needed. That is why the miraculous gifts are not with the Christian organization today. Without such aids the mature church, fortified with advanced Scriptural knowledge and fulfillments of many prophecies, can preach a convincing message and make progress with those having hearing ears. It still has the holy spirit upon it, but that spirit is manifested in a different way, primarily by love and all the other associated fruits mentioned in Galatians 5:22, 23 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Apparantly it's an 'evidently' conclusion
W 2009 5/1
[Footnote]
Evidently, with the death of the apostles, the transmittal of the gifts ended, and the miraculous gifts of the spirit ceased altogether as those who had received these gifts died.
Paul didn't indicate when these gifts would be done away with and if it was to help serve in proving the message was from God/Jesus then it would be possible that it hasn't been done away with yet -

Koolaid Man said I am making preparations to go to Brooklyn NY. and meet Johnny and find out for myself if indeed he is who he says he is. Johnny told me he would be willing to allow me to make a You Tube video to prove is validity.
Surely it's not that hard to prove his validity by other means. Get his real name, if you haven't already, and call him at Bethel, they're allowed to take personal calls and if not they will leave a message for him to call you back.
Get him to send you some photo's and background history, which congregation he came from etc. etc. Surely he can trust you and you don't need to reveal his personal info.
What will the You Tube video prove, you'll black out his face anyway? There's no question that he's a real person although there might be the odd one on here that comes up with the theory that he's alien.

May 15 WT sisters support your husband.....or else!
by hoser inthe new study watchtower page 9 explains how sisters should be happy to be servants to their elder husbands.. "co-operate in financial matters".
"joyful to see her husband active in the congregation".
if he makes a decision you disagree with "she displays a quiet and mild spirit and cooperates with him to make his decision work".
