Having lived in the southern State of Victoria, I wouldn't say greed was the motivation. The weather is pretty awful, even Tasmania is better.

Lovely video and some important questions are asked.
He makes the statement that there is greater awe in reality than there is in fantasy. Believing in a higher being is not fantasy but anyway I prefer this more profound statement'
Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when one contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure
of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day." - Albert Einstein

CAN WE SOLVE THE MYSTERY of why Watchtower doctrines changed when they changed?
by Terry inif a person gives a police report of a traumatic event, but later changes their facts during cross-examination, these changes are used to impeach the honesty of the witness.. this impeachment flows from a logical understanding facts must match reality without contradiction.. lets examine the history of the watchtower corporations leaders with a view to the harmony of.
true teaching over a period of years from 1879-1942.. "even though christmas is not the real anniversary of our lord's birth, but more properly the annunciation day or the date of his human begetting (luke 1:28), nevertheless, since the celebration of our lord's birth is not a matter of divine appointment or injunction, but merely a tribute of respect to him, it is not necessary for us to quibble particularly about the date.
we may as well join with the civilized world in celebrating the grand event on the day which the majority celebrate - "christmas day.

Alexander Hislop and his book 'The two Babylons' are quoted 47 times in the WT library. Hislops motive was to discredit the Catholics and mentioned numerous practices of theirs as being from pagan origin. He had his own set of weird and whacky ideas, which were not factual.
It would seem that the WTBTS in it's own motive of discrediting the Catholic religion picked up on this book and ran with his ideas. It fitted their needs of pointing at other religions and demonstrating that they were still pagan. Of course, that required ridding their own organization of those pagan practices that they they would choose to condem.
The WTBTS last quoted Hislop in 1985.
Hislop's writings have been discredited.
Hislop believed the Protestant religion was the true religion and he also believed in the Trinity. Having researched his writings the WTBTS would have known this. So why would they even quote someone whom, according to their own beliefs, was lying? Surely if the WTBTS has any credibility they would not quote from a person who's basic doctrines were a lie and from Satan, how could they even put trust in anything he was saying? Yet they continued to quote him time after time.

How would you respond to this defense made on behalf of The Watchtower's Child Abuse lawsuits?
by adjusted knowledge indetails of the society's child abuse policies have been published in jehovah's witnesses' publications, although more specific guidelines are only made available to elders, or on request.
press releases issued by the watch tower society's office of public information confirm that if a person accused of molestation repeatedly denies the charges of his victim, and there is no other witness to the incident, "the elders cannot take action within the congregation at that time", but would report to authorities if required by local laws.
our families jehovahs witnesses and child protection.

Have they put their foot in their mouth with this statement ?
They won't be using their handling of pedo cases as an example to prove that they are the one true chanel and they cannot claim that they have been guided by God's holy spirit in this matter.

the elders receive proper legal direction to ensure that they comply with the law. Additionally, the victim may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.
They say that they take these issues very seriously. Then why do they provide access to the legal department to elders only? What actual support do they give members who want to report the issue to authorities? Although they have changed their actions by not hindering the member to go to the police they are doing nothing to actively support the member, whereas they are actively helping the elders in dealing with the matter even if it is to a limited extent. These are members that have come to them to help deal with the matter, I doubt any JW would expect that the elders dealt with the matter on a spiritual basis only but they don't realize that they are not getting any practical help whatsoever.

I don't think this is the usual process. You could ask them if their fund has been sanctioned by the elders in the congregation and whether they have registered this fund with the appropriate authorities.

Xanthippe, I didn't pick up on that, sorry.
I hope that he is here and that he takes your advice. Having children is a very important time to reflect on what one hopes and plans for that child. Certainly the JW religion restricts many things that we may otherwise aim for on behalf of our children.
I know of some JW families that are not preventing their children from higher education but when the father is in a prominent position they are not likely afforded this opportunity. The father can lose his position if he allows his children to recieve higher education.
I don't know if your nephew does hold any positions in the religion and if he does, or may in the future, he should consider how much time this will take away from enjoying a full family life. My father was an elder and we saw so little of him, he was usually sitting in his office and working on various JW duties, including study, public talk presentations and various other responsibilities. We had very little fun times, just doing things together.
We weren't allowed to do any out of school activities like sport and it was probably just as well as he would not have had the time to drive us around let alone watch us.
It is worth the time to investigate the religion, both its past and its beliefs as he now has the responsibility of teaching his own child.

Sorry, but there is no way I would send this letter, there is too much bible bashing and it is not going to reach out to a JW.
