  after the general small talk of new cars, exotic vacations and sports we often get into the "why" we are xjubs.

  he is a well educated publisher who holds a phd in child psychology.

  this is going around the kingdom halls now, i thought it was a hoax but are not all the end time dates produced by the organization some hoax or con?

  the reason why the end did not come in 1975 was the watchtower society had not put eve's creation in their equation.

  i was told when we had a "meet and greet" if "we knew the date of eve's creation we would know the year jehovah was going to destroy the earth.. it's been 40 years since 1975, can you believe it's been 40 years since "stay alive till 1975!"?

  As usual there are several crazy reasonings on this idea.

  It doesn't matter how many years passed between the creation of Adam and of Eve.  In their theory they think Eve must have been created at the very end of the 6th day but the bible doesn't say this.

  Another point is that the idea is based on each creative day as being 7.000 years long and they no longer teach this.

  Poster country flags and privacy

  the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).

  before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.

  first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

  If the flag is going to restrict what some posters would otherwise write it is not a good idea.  Also if it is going to help in some way to identify somebody it also is not a good idea.

  It doesn't bother me personally but I would also vote no.

  Early Morning Informal Witnessing, Yay!!

  how many of us would get up and "start your time" by 6:00am or earlier?.

  i sure did my fair share and convinced many others to join me semi-regularly.. we'd stand out in front of "somewhere/something", you remember?.

  donut shop, 7-11, liquor store ( genius ), driving to laundry rooms or coin-op's, etc... anyway, this past sunday i was pumping fuel for the long trip home early in the morning out of l.a. to norcal, when i spotted a young, energetic version of myself 20 years ago.

  Kairos, was that a keying error, was it really 6 hours?  I'm interested to know what kind of impression you may have left him with.  Your wife is so patient, you are a lucky man.  I also wonder why she didn't hop out of the car and come and join you but I think I know why and it would seem that she really does know TTATT.

  I stopped and talked to a JW elder in a Hong Kong Mall earlier this year.  We had a great discussion and he was interested in listening and naturally added his reasoning on matters.  He wanted my phone number in the end so I gave him my email address but he still has not emailed.

  I am wondering what your motives are for wanting to find another 'traveller"?  I assume it is because you acknowledge you don't have all the answers and want to share ideas with another like minded person.

  If you have found the right path then why aren't you trying to share it with as many as you can?  I assume that is because if you found this path on your own (that is, without the knowledge shared by other humans) then it is not something  another person can learn from another human being.  Therefore it makes my first comment pretty pointless because you are not going to learn from a like minded person.  If it is God who has enlightened you then surely he will keep you on the right path and share with you as much as you need to know.

  What you have really done is learn from the Watchtower to a degree that you feel ready to accept, that is why you don't want to take them down, they served you a purpose and you think they may do the same for others.  You've chosen to move onto a different path because you don't agree with everything they are teaching.  This makes them false teachers and they are misleading millions.  Why you would not want to take them down even though you believe you have secret knowledge that would enable you to do it easily.  Would God really sanction an organization that allows 8 million people to be blinded for the sake of enabling a dozen or so to find the right path?  Would God make it that difficult?

  i heard about a new video where the watchtower has a single mother and her child eating millet or rice with almost no material possessions worried about donating to the world wide work.

  now most religions are trying to donate to third-world countries, not the watchtower profit enterprise, they are willing to take a families last milk cow so their leaders can spend those funds fighting pedophile lawsuits!.

  every place the watchtower builds you read about the angry citizens having to pick up their tax bills because the watchtower only takes!

  The video the OP mentioned speaks for itself.  The widow/fatherless woman fed her growing children rice only at the start of the movie.  After being visited by two elders whom she told how she was struggling financially the only help they gave her was so called spiritual food.  The family are shown at the end eating only rice.  Children need more than that and the woman was given no financial assistance, in total disregard of Christian duties.

  It looks like the GB have been on their Xmas holiday break, the January video is still not up.

  he is a real gifted man with and the most amazing thing is that he has never been a jw but is deeply concerned about their teachings.

  It is a long video but he has so many interesting and unique comments.  He is a real gifted man with and the most amazing thing is that he has never been a JW but is deeply concerned about their teachings.  He hopes to wake up his JW brother and other JWs.

  research impossible

  so, now that nearly all of the past knowledge that jw's has had is slowly being deleted, how does anyone do any research on any subject?.

  meetings are pretty boring as it is, all they do is parrot the society's writings.. how is this going to work?

  i have to wonder , what point is the service meeting , once you know how to walk up to a door and hand someone a magazine.

  Goingthruthemotions, we don't really know what they are saying because they keep contradicting themselves.  For instance, they say that they have dropped the idea of using types and antitypes unless it is clear from scripture that they should apply it, however even their date of 1914 is based on antitypes and they're sticking by that idea.

  Just look at the confusion in the recent thread about when the FDS was appointed, they say 1919 but this is also based on some antitype determination and they just aren't specific about how they get that date.  They are really being obscure in their recent new light so it appears that in some ways they want the sheepies to think that these dates are built on a solid basis but they aren't substantiating how they got those dates. 

  So it seems that it is pointless to research because we have no idea if they still believe what they taught in any particular teaching.
