Rodney Spinks' Performance
by maksutov init seems like there has not been as much discussion here about the rc testimony on day 6 (4th august) as there has been about previous days.
i was quite surprised by rodney spinks' testimony, which was a marked contrast to the bungling and inarticulate testimony of the elders that appeared before him.
spinks seemed reasonably co-operative, and a lot more willing to concede points than anyone else has been.

A real asset to the bethel branch. Ha ha, he said he was the longest serving in his department. Seems like everyone else left. -

There's no need for Jackson to attend, he could ask any of the other GB members to attend as a replacement. I can't see the commission not accepting that arrangement.

The commission has been very generous in not sending a subpoena for Jackson to turn up in true gentlemanly fashion. They've ignored this generous invitation. It's made it possible for them to select a different GB member who isn't under the same strain as Jackson. They've just proved how unhelpful they are to the commission and demonstrated that they have no intention of really cooperating.

Was that 289 reports of abusers or incidents of abuse in the last 10 years? If it is abusers then this compares very badly to the number for the previous 55 years, being the remainder 717 of 1006, -

URGENT URGENT URGENT
Hi Anonymous1 and everyone else,
I am a producer at ABC Television in Sydney. We would very much like to make contact with Geoffrey Jackson and try and get an interview. Anonymous1, you have said in your post that he will be attending meetings at the Harristown Congregation. do you know when??
If anyone has more details of where he is staying or a contact number please call me asap. Any information will be off the record and will be confidential. I do not need to know your name, if that is a concern.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards
Alison

Bombshell - because of their own internal process of JC's they are hiding known child abusers.
The Commissioner told Spinks that because they make a detailed examination and have their own internal process of dealing with abuse cases, they have therefore made themselves responsible for the need to report. Spinks confirmed that they think it is the individual's right but the Commissioner pointed out that the elders themselves have made a decision as to whether a person is guilty or not and therefore have this responsibility of knowing that they have identified a criminal
There are laws that deal with people who are hiding a criminal or are fully aware that there is a known criminal and they would clearly know if the abuser confessed.

The Jehovah's Witnesses, the Royal Commission and the Catholic Church
by OrphanCrow ina catholic forum has a discussion thread: "jehovah witness now appear with the royal commission".. i have made the comment before that dr. applewhite's appearance in support of the jws is not surprising if you consider that the royal commissions' findings will impact the structure of the cathoilc church as well.
the catholic church has a vested interest in the jws' hearing - if the jws are forced to change their organizational structure, so will the catholics.. the following post is an excellent discussion on the similarities and differences between the catholic church and the jws structure.

The pedophile is in better position than the apostate
by opusdei1972 ini know that in english there are better pages exposing the organization, but here i updated the page (in spanish) with an article untitled "la organizacion jehovista oculta el abuso sexual" (the jehovist organization hides sexual abuse) based on the last news on "child abuse" in australia, and quoting watchtower's articles in which you can note how in this organization, the penitent pedophiles are in better position than the "apostates" who denounce the organization's absurdities .. http://jehovismo.com/.
for instance, i quoted the watchtower 1997 jan 1 p.29, where it is said that it is permitted for the penitent pedophile to preach door to door:.
if he seems to be repentant, he will be encouraged to make spiritual progress, share in the field service, even have parts in the theocratic ministry school (the watchtower, january 1, 1997).

The case regarding BCH and BCG is very complicated and confusing and we need to remember that these are real people we are talking about.
We need to be careful about labelling these people and not border on defamation.
Unfortunately when we are talking about child abuse and incest it is possible, if not probable that the abusers have very serious mental issues.
Why they even leave these issues to unexperienced elders to deal with is inexcusable.

Royal Commission - Clarification of 1,006 unreported abusers
by Listener inknowing that many here like to relate information as accurately as possible i just wanted to make a clarification regarding the unreported abusers in the australian jw religion.. it is not correct for us to state that there are 1,006 cases of unreported abusers in australia since 1950. .
this is what the commission has reported in the opening address .
those documents include 1,006 case files relating to allegations of child sexual abuse made against members of the jehovahs witness church in australia since 1950 each file for a different alleged perpetrator of child sexual abuse.

Knowing that many here like to relate information as accurately as possible I just wanted to make a clarification regarding the unreported abusers in the Australian JW religion.
It is not correct for us to state that there are 1,006 cases of unreported abusers in Australia since 1950.
This is what the Commission has reported in the opening address
Those documents include 1,006 case files relating to allegations of child sexual abuse made against members of the Jehovah’s Witness Church in Australia since 1950 – each file for a different alleged perpetrator of child sexual abuse.
Evidence will be put before the Royal Commission that of the 1,006 alleged perpetrators of child sexual abuse identified by the Jehovah’s Witness Church since 1950, not one was reported by the Church to secular authorities.
Note that the Commission investigations showed that of the 1,006 alleged abusers that the Australian Branch WTBTS advised them of, none were reported to secular authorities (including police) by the Elders or the Branch.
There have been cases reported to police but it hasn't been by the organization so would have been by the victim or their parents.
What this also means is that the organization is relying on the victim or parents to report the abuse when their is mandatory reporting. As they aren't reporting any themselves then they must be actively seeking the co-operation of the parents/victim to report it. In other words, they are actively passing on the responsibility to report (where there is mandatory reporting) to the parents/victim.
Although we knew this already, thinking about it makes their comments that they don't discourage parents from reporting look stupid when you consider that they actively encourage them to report when there is mandatory reporting. Their reasoning for not encouraging parent/victims to report is because they believe it is their absolute right to make a decision on this matter. -

Blondie is far from a 'self-assuming heavy' on this forum. Her years on this forum and contributions has meant that many of us put her in high regard. She has spent thousands of hours assisting us with her research work and her educated evaluation of WTBTS material.
The post doesn't make sense but I don't think she's addressing poopie but a poster by the name of apropos, but it's spelt wrong.
To suggest she is on meds is a bit hard to swallow.
