Ignorance is bliss, but for the people who deal with the ignorant it's hell.

in case any of you wondered why those two poor women who were attacked by the pit bull and probably ignored warning signs of a dag being in the yard and posted signs went to the door anyway.. here it is from the latest april 2013 km front page titled "take as a pattern the prophets-jonah".
paragraph #3 "when jonah realized that his bad decision had jeopardized the lives of the mariners, he was willing to sacrifice his life.
(jonah 1:3, 4, 12) later, when fulfilling his commission in nineveh, he walked deep into the heart of the city, perhaps looking for a suitable location to proclaim the judgment of jehovah.
So Jonah and Job are having a beer-
Job : Okay, okay, the whale story? spare me or I'll show you my boil scars again.
Jonah : look out, here comes that philistine looking for his foreskin!
isn't this guy like the greatest anti-hero of all time?.
as the series wears on it is getting more and more difficult to sympathise with the guy.
but i must admit i stuck with him pretty far.
Walt was a sympathetic character until he let Jessie's GF choke to death. After the boy on the bike at the trestle I am now rooting for good 'ol Hank
Saying bye is sometimes the best option, rather than trying to force an old relationship that is long gone.
and to think i was told that armageddon would be here before i was 13!.
happy birthday heather .
Happy birthday, young lady!
(mom, you have my sincere condolences)
heres the real quote from this weeks book study .
"real joy and satisfaction in life are unattainable if we live independently of our creator".
jeremiah book chap.
...and, don't forget...under these "subtle" reminders to JW's as to the WTB&TS authority over their lives, is the iron fist in the velvet glove.
Shunning has varying degrees of impact on each individual, but my guess is that the vast majority of JW's simply cannot afford to risk the threat that their very lives can be hugely impacted, if not destroyed, by being cut off from family, spouses and friends. It is a trap. You will either quit struggling and go along or you WILL pay a price.
Those of us who paid the price of freedom can now post on JWN, etc.
I have a little different take on this.
I think it is nothing more than a rather shabby excuse to get you to go to a JW propaganda talk. We all know what JW memorials are all about.
Sorry for anyone who has had their life cut short by cancer surgery.
"when a person does what he always does, he will get what he always gets.".
wise words, those.
i have discovered after six-and-a-half decades that those who say they have found the truth, the way, the path for themselves and for all mankind, they are full of shit.
As someone, like yourself, who has been chewing over the big question, "What is the meaning of life?" for just a tad over 6 and a half decades, I appreciate your thoughts above.
Here is the Readers Digest version of your essay:
Q - What is the purpose/meaning of our existance?
A - I don't know
and that's just the way it should be. Many, many people take the first answer offered, like born-ins who are now in their 80's and never once relaxed the death grip on it.
The closest to an answer I have ever arrived at to cut it back to the basics. I think of the simplicity of other forms of life, animal and vegetable -
Birth - growth- blossom- procreate - declineand pass into death.
If there is a god "it" knows how to contact me if "it" wants to. Meanwhile, I am content with the above described cycle.

Big Foot, UFO's, ghosts, same stuff people enjoy scaring themselves and others with as demons.
I see they are exploiting this fascination with special TV shows on these subjects and drawing large enough audiences to make a lot money selling advertising.
BOO!
i posted a link on fb that lead to a topic here.
i then had one of my 'friends' start having a go about how bitter everyone is here....fact he said.
(he used to be a jw elder but left a while back, not sure why he left or if he has even researched the faith since leaving) the more i tried to reason with him that actually it is a support forum, the more he lashed out that everyone here bad mouths the jw's and only attack the jw's.
I wouldn't describe myself as bitter. The JW life I lived from birth to about age 40, including the after effects of being DF'd, has definitely left a bad taste in my memories.
I think some folks should "walk a mile" in others shoes before they pigeon hole everyone as "bitter". I think "justifiable righteous indignation" is a better way to put it.
