Yes, what you call 'sowing' is what the JDubs call "incidental witnessing" ! lol. I like to throw a bomb whenever I get the opportunity.
I feel there is a large class of JW's who are simply lazy when it comes to examining the religion they have found themselves labeled with. A nicer way to say it would be that many people find life itself such a challenge that the inertia that keeps them in the cult is easy to live with.

It's soooo hot!
by talesin init's 27 degrees celsius today = about 35 in my flat, which is about 95 degf for the americans.. .
my friends in tx say it's been over 100 degf for about 2 months ... i don't have ac, but a fan on me .... .
how do you deal with the heat?.

Swamp (evaporative) coolers work beautifully in a dry climate. They don't work well at all in high humidity.
When it cools at night open windows and even doors (if you feel secure). Close everything up at dawn and draw all window coverings. If your shelter is fairly well insulated or shaded by trees you can beat the heat for several hours. Fans give off heat from the electric motors so keep them off unless you are in the room. If it gets unbearable the fan and spray bottle, dampened clothes, etc. can help.

The effect we are having on the Watchtower is HUGE
by jwfacts ini was inspired by a recent thread i know i aint gunna crumble the wt, but a girl can dream to look at the effect we as individuals are having on the watchtower society.. 3dogs1husband quoted a story to show that even helping only one person is worth it.. it is encouraging to note that the one person you may have helped has lead to millions being helped, due to the power of compounding growth.. compounding growth is well illustrated by the rice on a chessboard problem.
if you start with 1 grain of rice on square one, and double it to 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fourth, by the last (64th) square there would be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains of rice.. likewise, if you help one person out of the grip of the watchtower this year, then next year you help one more and they help one, in a few years that is going to have a formidable result on the number of jehovahs witnesses.

Idle question about Abraham and Human Sacrifice
by corpusdei ini don't have my usual resources in front of me, so i can't fact check this, but there's been something bothering me.
one of the things mentioned quite often as evidence of the wickedness and evil practices of the false religion that surrounded ancient israel is the practice of child sacrifice (baal and molech being the frontrunners as i recall).
but ...... didn't god tell abraham to kill his own son isaac as a human sacrifice?

Isaac was bound before the almost murder. Jesus was nailed to a cross to be murdered. No volunteers in the scenarios. It goes on and on. Utter ignorance. Great example of the mental gymnastics and suspension of reason that is required to embrace life after death cults.

Isn't the real point here that the Abraham/Isaac tableau is the germaine foreshadow of CHRISTianity and it's foundation on the actual bloody sacrifice of God's son? Since God could have stopped the crucifixion as he did with Abraham, isn't he the real weilder of the "knife"? Not the Romans or the Jews.
It is all so obvious that Christianity is just another Baskin-Robbins flavor of mankinds long history of bloody, simpleton concepts (religions) of a "God". It is all about rejecting the concept of actually dying with nothing beyond.

My 9th Year On Here........

i joined this board 9 years ago today......i can't believe it's been that long.
i miss alot of the ones that were on here when i first joined: unclebruce, dr. jekyll, gumby, kw13, littletoe, xena, simplesally, dansk, bendrr, englishman, ozziepost, luna, brummie, juni, buttlight.......we had a lot of fun on the board but it's nice that there's alot of newbies on here too.......plus, i ain't the only old timer on here!

By chance, yesterday began the local 3 day "Sternwheeler Days" event (Google it). Every year they convert Thunder Island into the Mountain Man Festival. These folks really get into the old days with authentic costumes, tents, blacksmith shop and lots of black powder musket and cannon shooting. We live very close by and the sounds fit into the narrative I'm reading. This morning we walked down to the encampment and I was allowed to shoot an original Civil war era .72 caliber musket. Loud! Lots of gun powder smoke.
