Good vid sab,
This actual theme is what bothered me for a long time in my last few years as a witness. The crux of the JW idea of the 'theme of the bible', that being sovereignty, just didn't cut it with me. I saw genesis as being the clay feet of a very flawed book. Also, with your arguement about the book of Job, I kind of saw the whole thing being like the plot from Eddie Murphy's 'Trading Places'. Mankind being the pawns in a big bet.
I really couldn't get my head around the idea that such a perfect creator could just abandon his first creations with a manslayer. Jehovah didn't think to appear and save his creations from a manipulative liar.... the whole thing smacks of a cobbled- together myth from early eastern cultures. Genesis is just way too simplistic and doesn't deal with any important points. It reads like a passive account, in brief detail.
Cheers
