How does the watchtower get simplified? Have they turned it into a colouring book?

New JW.org video - using the simplified Watchtower to "teach" children
by cedars inwell, now that the new jw.org website is up and running, the videos keep coming thick and fast.. this latest highly-polished production shows an asian family, evidently living in america (or some other developed country), explaining how the watchtower in simplified english benefits them.. here is the link.... http://www.jw.org/en/news/by-region/world/video-clip-helping-children/.
the first thing that struck me was the boys playing football together at the beginning.
it seems playing soccer in pairs (as with the ministry!

A new hope in the fight against superbugs
by oldlightnewshite injust managed to download this week's episode of bbc's horizon science programme (which is always bloody brilliant, you can catch it on the bbc site, on iplayer, or on torrents), which was about the fight against bacterial staff infections in hospitals.
it's a thing i've been worried about for a long time, as i've been aware that doctors recently are lamenting that antibiotics are becoming less effective, and they can't create new ones quick enough.
stories were going around that in the very near future we won't have any antibiotics left in the fight against bacteria.. one way they've discovered is to use a particular virus which wipes out bacteria by invading it, and replicating itself inside the cell until it dies.. also, it turns out that scientists in a lab in noo joisey have discovered that bacteria communicate among one another using chemical signals.

NOLAW, I thought that, but apparently it happens naturally in nature all the time. I think they're just doing specific tinkering with it to target specific bacteria.
The program was scary. Apparently, In India, poor people will buy 1 antibiotic tablet for crazy stuff like a headache, or something. Hence, the emergence of the Super-Bugs. Something needs to be tested and put out there quick, time is running out.

A poignant comment on JWsurvey.org from a nonJW regarding Sparlock
by cedars ini woke up this morning to find the following comment had been left on jwsurvey.org on my article entitled "watchtower's new 'toy story' - what parents need to know".
it read as follows.... .
my grandson, who is 3, was telling me magic is bad several times a day.

Our Cult spidey senses aren't over-heightened. The average person on the street sees it too. Christ on a bike. What will the next generation of Dubs be like? They're gonna churn more of this cartoon brain-cleanser out, too.
There are certain Disney films LPs that I listened to as a kid, and I could probably still at 43 write out the script word for word.
gawd 'elp 'em.

They STILL might be DFing me soon for apostasy...
by RayPublisher inbig news - i met with the elders last night.
they were not arrogant and they were not mean spirited, but of course we all know they also would not budge from the jw brainwashed beliefs they are sworn to uphold.
i let my light shine, and within two minutes of sitting down with them was no longer nervous.. .

I have to use the word 'encouraging', it's such a Borg buzzword. I was thrilled to hear what you've done. Good for you. You never know- maybe one of those elduhs might wake up after what you said. For the lurkers, it might spur them on to do the same one day, and stand up for the truth.

Don't know what purpose it serves, but Marvel comics has a lot to answer for. The original idea/excuse was thought up while the GB was sitting around reading the Fantastic 4.

One way they've discovered is to use a particular virus which wipes out bacteria by invading it, and replicating itself inside the cell until it dies.
Also, It turns out that scientists in a lab in noo Joisey have discovered that bacteria communicate among one another using chemical signals. Once they multiply to a critical mass, that's when they attack, after releasing the signal. After finding this, they have found a way to use an inhibitor, which doesn't kill the bacteria, but rather jams it's way of signalling to the other bacteria, thus stopping a full-blown bacterial infection. They think this knowledge will help them in the mean time to be able to eradicate the bacteria using other methods.
Currently, the only more effective antibiotics that work against the superbugs from the subcontinent are older ones which are highly toxic.
Zombie apocalypse postponed for the next 10 years at least.

Did guilt force you into relationships with negative or selfish people?
by HelpMeBelieve inhow much force did guilt play into your relationships with other witnesses?
we wasted so much of our lives chasing things that are not real, love that was highly conditional and relationships with people that evaporated once we started to fade away.. .
i would force myself to talking with nutty brothers who seemed to be "short their rent each month, never able to catch up".

I guess you could sayI was a shit magnet at the hall. Because I was too kind to brush off friendly advances from the uber-crazy or KH fleabags, I was beating them off with a stick. I estimate that of all my friends in the troof, I would probably have remained friends with approximately around 5% of them IF they weren't JWs right now.

September 11, 2001- Where were you?
by SophieG ini work at a major airline in the in-flight training department.
i was sitting at the desk on the computer, i kid you not... writing the security (hijacking) curriculum for 2002, when someone came in and told me a plane flew into the wtc.
we all thought it was one of our planes.

That day I walked in the door at 14.00 or 14.30 UK time, after going to the funeral of a good friend who had committed suicide, she was only 26. My head wasn't really in the right place to do anything. Immediately I got a phone call from one of my clients. He said 'turn on the TV right now- a plane has flown into the WTC! It's like some kind of disaster movie, but it's actually happening NOW!' I turned on CNN on satellite, and really couldn't believe it. I admit I had to turn away when the people started jumping out of the windows. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so disturbing. It makes it worse when you're watching it live. I admit that I thought about this being a catalyst for the great trib. I think some dubs were excited by what happened, it just made me mad as hell with religion and religious people. It did contribute to me re-examining the usefulness of faith. A year later i stopped going to the hall.

With this weekend being 9-11 I have a question to ask all of you.
by TotallyADD inwhen flight 93 went down in shanksville pa it was due to the fact the passagers stood up against the terrorist and overcame them and brought the plane down so it would not do any harm to anyone else.
what if flight 93 was full of jw's going to a convention instead.
would they have fought off the terrorist to stop them from harming anyone else?

I really tried to imagine my congregation on board. We'd have been boned. The only time I've seen dubs take positive forceful action was at a convention, when an angry 'opposing' husband ran onto the pitch and called us all a bunch of effing wankers. he was crying too, poor guy. A bunch of brothers appeared like the CIA and tackled him within seconds.
Hmmm... what might have happened with a plane full of apostates?
