  Did you ever shun people when you were a dub? How did it feel?

  okay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!

  it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.

  i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.

  Ding, I'd wondered that too. I would give a nice warm smile and a nod of the head to say hi. I think it was in protest to all those smug bastards at the back, so cold and judgmental. I think it was probably to try and subconsciously jolt them into realising that after all we are supposed to be Christians first and foremost. I'd hoped that they would notice that I had no problem with it, so why were they making a big deal about it, and why couldn't they show some warmth?

  I'm convinced that the DF'd persons were so racked with guilt, that they probably had thrown up a kind of blind barrier, impervious to any communication. Now that I'm an inactive person, I'm getting the thousand yard stares too. Not had a greeting from a dub in maybe a year. Whenever I see a dub I stare at them to wait and see if there is a flicker of recognition. Nothing.

  Nicolau, that was a beautiful story. Really great that you were persistent with her. Thanks for sharing it. It took a lot of guts to admit that you were wrong. Amazing that you hugged, and didn't know each other so well.

  Okay, I don't know lots of people that were DF'd, but of all the times I've encountered DF people when I was a Dub, THEY actually blanked ME! It was always something that I had fixed in my mind that the JWs had dead wrong, even when I was an uber Dub. I remember several times when I used to arrive late at meetings, and I'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step. Every single time I got the poker face with no acknowledgement at all. Even this one time in a shop, I passed a sister I knew well, she saw me and put her eyes to the floor and walked away quickly. (WTF? Not even at the KH?) I have always been dead set against bullying of any kind, always getting into fights protecting vulnerable people. I used to physically feel sick when I saw the way DF'd were treated at the KH, and wanted to hurt the ones doing it.

  My question is, have you ever done it, and how did it make you feel? Did you get remorse afterwards, or did you just not think about it? Did you actually convince yourself that you were doing the right thing?

  I just don't see how Dubs could ever push aside feelings of compassion for somebody who was repentant. It never did sit right with me, and had I ever been challenged over the matter, I think I would have been DF'd myself over a refusal to conform. Did anybody else ever feel like that?

  I've just finished watching it. Some really interesting stats about morality in 'this time of the end'. If you're a lurker, you HAVE to watch this. It will blow all that WT bullshyte about the last days out of the water.

  The particular theme is 'sin'. He talks about masturbation, and how it's practised more within religious groups (practise makes perfect). Also, some crazy stuff about muslim women getting hymen-replacement surgery so they don't shame their family when they get married. As I say, the stats about morality are the most eye-opening. For instance, rape is down by 80% in the past 50 years!

  It's a pity this hasn't had the coverage it ought to have had. It seems to have gone under the radar.

  A wife's submission

  i'm relatively new to the faith, and struggle with many concepts and teachings.

  i am getting married soon.

  part of the teaching i've experienced is that a wife must learn submission to her husband.

  it's just a thought right now, but one of those thoughts where i have that itch.

  it's that same itch felt before i purchase something major.

  i'm just wondering what i might be getting into based upon others experiences in this regard.

  I'm virtually veggie now. I say that because we have to keep meat in the house as we have 3 dogs. (they won't eat tinned meat, and it ends up in the trash). I just eat mainly veggie for health reasons. I also don't eat bread or pasta, as it just bloats you up. I eat lots of potatoes, beans, chickpeas etc. Lots of curries, salads, fish, eggs, cheese.... I also take a multivitamin supplement, cod liver oil/hemp oil and slow release vitamin C. I'm in my early forties, and feel pretty good health-wise. No different to my twenties.

  If you want to stay veggie, and don't want to fall of the wagon- STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM BACON. I know lots of other veggies who treat it like kryptonite.

  Here's my prediction. When Rick's preggy wife goes into labour, it will be twins. Like Cain and Abel...one will be holding onto the other's foot coz it's a deady!

  I also think there'll probably be more infighting and killing now they've hooked up with the prisoners. This episode they really went for it with the splatter fx....even the slightest incidental detail in the distance. Hopefully this season will be better than the last.

  My Near Death Experience

  hi y'all, just wanted to let you know i was out for a stroll on my bicycle for exercise last week and got hit by a car 100 yards from my house.

  it was a hit and run.

  i got up with only minor bruises but felt really dizzy and asked one of my roommates to take me to the hospital as i was dizzy and felt i was going to pass out on the spot in the middle of the street.

  Wow! I have personal experience of crap hospital care in the UK too. The only bike I use these days is an indoor exercise bike. The roads these days are way too dangerous. I got hit by a drunk driver once.

  Hope the aches and pains go away soon.
