maybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?

in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.

one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.

I think I am going to change my phrase of "drinking the Koolaid" to drinking the Eggnogg!

(BTW I bet Koolaid HATES that phrase? Do you think? Or is it a lil joke at the Koolaid Corp, like when a mean boss hands out a stupid memo, do the workers roll their eyes and say "gotta drink the Koolaid Koolaid")

My husband and Myself were for 12 years depressed never good enough JW's after this summers District Convention, we drove home and were like WTF.....?????? Generations did what, are you kidding me? right this is a joke? right? are you serious? And now less then 6 months latter we are freeing ourselves, physicaly and mentaly!

We have been speechless in the cong, but our actions speak for themselves!

Seriously I will not drink the eggnogg any more!

Do you feel sorry for the family members who shun you?

as each instance of shunning happens to me, it seems even more ridiculous than the last.. this weekend i took our kids to the park - wife opted out, understandably - and we let our daughter call my parents to inform them we'd be there.

this was my first time in the presence of my parents since our df announcement two weeks ago.. my mom and dad were 10-20 feet away much of the time and yet they never said a greeting or.. well anything.

at one point my daughter, who is aware of the shunning, mistakenly thought my mom called my name and shouted excitedly, "mawmaw, were you talking to daddy??

and for that I am sorry too.

how about pringting 2 or 3 selected pages from ks book say from judicial section.

make 3 or 4 copies of those pages and plant them in diffrent spots in the kingdom hall.

then watch.

this is totally out of my usual realm of posting but i really would like some input, please (may you all have peace!).

i have supervised many employees over the years and have dealt with all kinds of issues, except this one... although i know it's not uncommon.

i have a staff member who has the worst halitosis.

My vote is you just talk honestly. I have worked for some pretty passive agressive bosses before, and they would have written an entire office memo, about offensive odors, bad breath personal hygyene ect ect.....

Givivng this issue on to the DR sounds like it might work, but if it is tooth decay you are otta luck and will have to have that convo.

In one place I worked we had an eval that had a personal hygine/dress code section. It made it really easy for the managers to bring it.

so i've been working out of town the last month and i'm back home for a couple of weeks to attend a conference and some business meetings.

my mom while i was away has been concerned about my meeting attendance (haven't gon in almost a year, except memorial) - even when i was home she was concerned.

so today, when we met up for dinner - inevitibly, my meeting attendance came up as a topic of concern.

Please help me on my JW father who WILL NOT leave me ALONE

i need your suggestions on what to do.. my father is elderly and his health isn't good.

still, he pioneers.

oohhh a perfect hobby for him. My husband has an uncle who buys old hand held computers, and puts the WT library on them for the pioneers and well evry one in the cong. It is great he spends hours on ebay trying to win them cheap and then hours fixing them up so that the lovely pioneers have the cd rom at their finger tips while out in the ministry.

(the one he made me is a dell axim...very cool wt toy i used it at all the meetings to play solitare, pretending I was following along in the bible...the elders never asked me to stop. when they got after my mother inlaw for using it instead of the actual books durring the meeting....she told them she has bad arthritus, and it is hard to carry around all the books, and that these hand helds are a blessing to the baby boomers plus baby boomers they love techi stuff and will use it. and she asked the how they will put their library in there emergency kit?hahhaaha)

lol just tell him you joined acult and now you need to shun him!!!! I feel for you!.

Hi Skeeter!

I agree with the other posts, and love the idea of you cracking your father.....but it sounds like you have done your best already. On a very simple note could you help your father find a hobby? And even a hobby that has an online chat forum? Sounds like he loves to write and chit chat and if he had a group to talk to about his new obssesion it sound like it could make everyones life better including him. There are a couple of sisters here who are Farmvile (on fb) addicts. They are on like all they time....I even overhead them talking about what they wanted eachother to help with on their farms during a service coffee break. Playing games online with others is fun and you can chat and be involed, something you could do together with out the WT.

Model airplanes....trains.....wood carving? Oh my father loves puzzles....

Ok, I want to get opinions on this!

3 years ago i was in a very deep depression.. i had recently gotten diagnosed with bipolar disorder 2 as well as a bad case of ptsd.. i was on the verge of suicide, i thought about it every day, every hour it seemed.. then something extraordinary happened.. it was the middle of the night, 2am.

i had been having bouts of insomnia for months now and was up very late.. just for the hell of it, i googled my full name: alex strait.. i found a recent news article that came up.. turns out just a few weeks earlier a 23 year old man named alex strait had been found in a park after he committed suicide.. that was pretty freaky.. the next day i get an email from someone.. turns out his fiance found my website (i am a web developer by trade) that gave a description of my ailment and journey (through random googleing).

she emailed me through my website and asked if it was her alex strait that had killed himself.

I think when enough time, and actual work has past (therapy, reading ect I will find life is not fun in just black or white. To go from I have all the answers in life (JW) to There are NO answers is a harsh reality to live in. I think Normal Healthy Critical Thinking People, are moved touched and effected by things like this, even smaller signs or ommens. But I can see how some can never believe in anything, but then maybe something like this happens?
