it was a beautiful, sunny day.

i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.

she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

Dj, are you sure you are on the right website? None of us come hear to read the Society's viewpoint. If we wanted the Society's viewpoint we'd be reading the Society's literature. Are you trying to compete with the Society? Do you think you can do a better job at "adjusting" us than the Society can? If so, why not discuss that with your body of elders rather than with us. (which = throwing pearls before swine)

The fact that you have even read postings on this site - let alone post here - shows that you have rebelled against the Almighty One and His Son and His Son's appointed representatives. After all, whoever says a greeting to us a sharer in our wicked works. Now it's just a matter of time and your grave sin will have to be brought to light, lest Jehovah remove His Spirit from the congregation you have now contaminated. Your entire congregation will eventually know that you have associated with apostates. You have cast Jehovah's Spirit off from you and have offered yourself to Satan and his organization. This puts you in direct opposition and defiance to Jehovah's Universal Sovereignty.

Throw yourself at Jehovah's feet and implore Him to forgive you so that He may once again find you fit for use in His sacred service. You cannot be partaking of the table of Jehovah and the table of the demons.

You can also say:

I haven't left Jehovah at all, and He has not left me. I have simply left a man-made organization. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus did not say, "No one comes to the Father except through my 11 faithful apostles and 143,989 others who will follow in the future."

December 15th WT gives example of sister who quit her job so she could go to an convention.

i was beyond mad when i heard this.

it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.

when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.

They SHOULD quit their jobs and get their asses to the convention. That would create job openings for the rest of us.

One time a 92-year-old sister insisted on getting out in service, so I checked out a trailer park territory because there were a lot of shade trees and the houses were close together - less walking. She worked for about 30 minutes and placed magazines at every single door. But obviously the housholders just felt sorry for her - they were probably thinking, "They make even the elderly ones go door to door?...I'm afraid to say No to this old woman, she might have a stroke on my front porch...I'll just take the magazines to be nice to her..." Her presentation was something like, "I have the latest copies of the Watchtower and Awake magazines, [handing them to householder] these are your copies." The people smiled, took them and said, "Thank you," and closed the door.

When do you begin counting time?

for those who were in or still are.. when do/did you begin counting time?

as you left for the house group, or after the meeting was over?

did you count the car trip to and from?

I used to begin my time when the field service meeting ended. Many people would stand around in the hall and socialize. Some would start their time when we got to the territory, or when they knocked on the first door.

I always thought of it like my secular job; I'm there from 9-5. I expect to be paid from 9-5 even if the computers are down or I'm called into a meeting or whatever else happens. I arranged to be there at 9, ready to work. I don't punch out to use the restroom or get coffee in the breakroom at work, so I never stopped counting my field service time when I took breaks. After all, had I not been out in field service at all that day, I would not have been on that break either. The break was part of that activity.

I was always in favor of going out on Sundays. We were already dressed and at the Hall, we already had our literature bags...I always encouraged others to at least make a return visit or do a few not-at-homes after the meeting. THEN go out to eat. But no one did. Every congregation I was in, even the elders did not support Sunday field service - not even the field service overseer. Except during the CO visit of course.
