Last year during the CO visit I noticed that the CO's wife had an iPad or something, and she was looking up each scripture on it. She even used it to pull up scriptures fro her comments.

Overheard JW Phone Conversation
by new light ini was sitting down to lunch yesterday when i heard the man at the table behind me say into his phone "yeah, it's going to be hard since they want us to pioneer in april.".
of course, i was all ears at this point.
next thing i could pick up over the din of a crowded restaurant was "he has to go to the meetings for a year before he can come back.

Good observation, Palimpsest. I remember as a single brother, I was expected to do more in the congregation - more hours in service and so on. Meanwhile, a married brother did not have to do his laundry, shopping, cooking, cleaning, or anything else except work the same number of hours I did. He at least had a stay-at-home wife who would do these things for him.

Interesting that he said, "...they want us to pioneer in April..." rather than, "...I would like to pioneer in April..."

laverete, I would take it seriously. If you don't know his identity, why not ask him his name? Perhaps ask the class some questions, audience participation style. As you call on each one, ask them their names. Then if he takes the bait and raises his hand, call on him and ask his name.
Also, maybe you can discreetly get a photo of him with your cell phone.

I was walking my dog and JWs told me about some good news!
by moshe inwell, it was a nice morning to take my dog for a walk and about a mile from my home i met a car load of jws working the condos.
two brothers hit on me before they went back to their car.
apparently they hadn't been able to talk to anyone this morning -10:30am, so they were eager to find a stooge who would listen to them.. i immediately decided i wouldn't talk about their doctrine, so i jumped on the flood of noah after they got the intros out of the way.

I was walking my dog when some sisters came along. One set her bookbag down on the sidewalk while she offered literature. My dog lifted his leg and peed. The pee went inside the bag.

One Sunday, when I had given the public talk, a visiting sister came up to me after the meeting and said, "I want you to f*** me."
A few months later I gave the "special talk" and kept looking in the audience.....

Holiday field circus: From both sides of the door
by WTWizard inhere is what it is like to those on the inside of the door:.
the children got up about an hour earlier than normal.
obviously, they are anxious to start opening up the presents under the tree (and most children are not going to want to sleep in on christmas morning).

I would never go in service on holidays because I knew the people would be busy celebrating, and even have family members visiting, so it would be rude of me to interrupt them.
Telemarketers don't call on holidays, so why would we go out in field service on those days?
I am not a sports fan but I had enough sense not to go in service during the Super Bowl.

Hi and welcome.
Yeah whenever I met sisters they always were concerned with how much money I made. Not because they wanted a husband to support them so they could pioneer, but because they wanted a husband to support them so they could spend his money. I actually had sisters showing up at my front door because it was well known that I made a lot of money.

Ever Disturbed by Something an Elder Said to You Personally?
by Cthulhu ini used to go out in service with this particular elder and after a while he developed a habit of saying...disturbing things.
i remember one occasion where he reminisced in rather graphic detail about a handjob some other guy gave him in school.
i recall another service venture when we passed a woman out walking her dog and he asks "do you ever wonder how many women who own dogs have sex with them?

I guess that means that if an elder's ADULT child goes to college, the elder has to kick him out of the house if he wants to remain an elder.
