Facebook-Jehovah's Witnesses
by Lunatic Faith inso, i have been mysteriously added to a facebook page for jw's.
i didn't join and it is supposedly a closed group.
i went to their page and found a dozen others who were wondering how they became a part of a group they never joined.

If you have your own facebook page, put something in your profile under "religious views", like "formerly Jehovah's Witness, now [whatever]" or just "ex-JW" or atheiest....anything that makes it clear you are no longer a JW.
I did that on mine. Some JW "friended" me, exchanged one or two messages, then apparently (or should I say "evidently"?) saw my "religious views" in my profile and quietly unfriended me.

I also have questions about field service...
by losthobbit ini never was a jw, so please excuse my lack of knowledge here.... after reading some posts on this forum it seems i've realized that i don't fully understand what field service is.
it seems that field service is the following (and please correct me):.
- something jw's have to do for a specific number of hours per month.

losthobbitt, why not invite us for a meal? We'll bring the beverages. hee hee hee
When I was an active witness, occasionally a co-worker or a neighbor would ask me privately what it was like to go in field service. They weren't interested in scriptural reasons or beliefs, but just what is was like. I always enjoyed those discussions.

losthobbit, in many cases, participating in a conversation with the witnesses when they come to your door might lead them to believe there is some degree of interest on your part. In other words, they'll make a point to come back again and again. However, this may not be so bad if you do enjoy conversing with them.
It also depends on the individual witnesses. For example after going door to door for an hour and either finding no one home, or having a few homes where people were nasty and told me to get lost or to go to hell, if I came across a friendly person, I would welcome the little "break" and not want to ruin it by being too pushy. I know of other witneses who would do this too. If the householder had a classic car, we'd chat about that. I'm a dog lover and naturally would chat about dogs if there was a dog there. Some people would just want to ask us about our beliefs, but are not interested in the literature. I figure, we are neighbors, we see each other in the grocery store and around town, why not be friendly and interested in others in the community?
Other witnesses I knew would only want to get to their point, and if you didn't want the literature they would leave. They're on a "mission". Maybe that type is not worth talking to anyway.

Where to JWs park their cars when going door-to-door?
by bradp ini am a christian and have handed out tracts all over my neighborhood,.
i'm ready to go to a new neighborhood and am trying to determine where to park my car without it getting towed.. is there a jw publication available that covers this kind of info?

If parking is permitted in the street, park in front of a house where no one appears to be home. Or else right at the border of two properties.
If there is no parking allowed on that street, try parking around the corner, or on the next block. There could be a small parking lot there - perhaps for a bank or church - or an empty lot.
When choosing a neighborhood to work in, you can drive around first to determine where to park. You might end up parking in one street, walking 2 blocks away, and working your way back toward your car.
Watch out for dogs. If confronted by a dog, DO NOT look at its eyes. Look over its head. Never look at its eyes; to a dog that is a confrontation.

JWs who do a "disappearing act" because of damaging gossip and trouble in the hall
by LongHairGal ini know of a few jw friends who from time to time have to do a disappearing act from their hall.
one jw finds a "reason" to leave town to visit relatives and another jw would go to "visit" another hall in a nearby vicinity.
in all honesty, they are fleeing from the strife in the kingdom hall when they are in the spotlight.

And for those of you who are still in the organization, I will tell you, anything said behind closed doors to a committee of elders, or a judicial committee, is then leaked to the whole congregation. The elders joke about it in car groups with the MS, they tell their wives and family members. They even make fun of the situations and people involved as if it's some kind of joke.
I knew of a teenage son of an elder who knew everything that went on in the elders' meetings - which person got counseled for what, how they responded, and so on.
I knew of a mother of an elder who also knew everything and she made sure to spread it around.
The elders also make comments (within the elder/MS body) about sisters' boobs and other things.

You'll lose your life and that of your children if you don't come back
by truthseeker init was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

Dj, are you sure you are on the right website? None of us come hear to read the Society's viewpoint. If we wanted the Society's viewpoint we'd be reading the Society's literature. Are you trying to compete with the Society? Do you think you can do a better job at "adjusting" us than the Society can? If so, why not discuss that with your body of elders rather than with us. (which = throwing pearls before swine)
The fact that you have even read postings on this site - let alone post here - shows that you have rebelled against the Almighty One and His Son and His Son's appointed representatives. After all, whoever says a greeting to us a sharer in our wicked works. Now it's just a matter of time and your grave sin will have to be brought to light, lest Jehovah remove His Spirit from the congregation you have now contaminated. Your entire congregation will eventually know that you have associated with apostates. You have cast Jehovah's Spirit off from you and have offered yourself to Satan and his organization. This puts you in direct opposition and defiance to Jehovah's Universal Sovereignty.
Throw yourself at Jehovah's feet and implore Him to forgive you so that He may once again find you fit for use in His sacred service. You cannot be partaking of the table of Jehovah and the table of the demons.

Tell her she is not being submissive. She is being brazen by rebelling against the Divine Headship principle.

You can also say:
I haven't left Jehovah at all, and He has not left me. I have simply left a man-made organization. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus did not say, "No one comes to the Father except through my 11 faithful apostles and 143,989 others who will follow in the future."

December 15th WT gives example of sister who quit her job so she could go to an convention.
by life is to short ini was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.

They SHOULD quit their jobs and get their asses to the convention. That would create job openings for the rest of us.
